In 2003, the Carling Weekend was held on the 22nd of August until the 24th. Headlining the festival was Linkin Park, Blur and Metallica, with Blink 182, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and System Of A Down filling in the previous slots. Other notable bands that played were The Darkness, Good Charlotte, Franz Ferdinand, Razorlight and The Libertines. This year marked a new beginning for Leeds, as it was Bramham Park's debut year after moving the site from Temple Newsam which was plagued with violence and anarchy in previous years.

[edit] Notable Events
- Good Charlotte suffered a bottling due to people deeming them as 'poseur punks'. However, they remained on stage until the end of their set.
- Jay Z pulled out of his early evening slot, to be replaced by The Darkness, who were originally 8th from the top on the day Blur headlined. Previous to that, they were set to play the Carling Stage but their increasing popularity was alarming to the managers, so they moved them to the Main Stage in case the small tent got packed out and resulted in injuries.
- The White Stripes, supporting their recently released Elephant album, were set to play before Blur. However, Jack White broke his finger in a car accident and so they were replaced by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
- During System Of A Down's set at Leeds, a massive mosh pit managed to push the security barriers over, resulting in twenty-two injuries.
- The Libertines played without Pete Doherty, who was in jail for burglary. Taking his place was future Dirty Pretty Thing, Anthony Rossamando.
