[edit] Origins
3 Things is a slightly easier variant of the Indianapolis Comedysportz game 5 Things.
[edit] Setup
[edit] Necessary Equipment
- A sound proof room or hallway
[edit] Performers
This game requires 3 improvisationalists, two conveyers and one guesser.
[edit] Leaving the Room
The guesser will leave the room as the emcee takes suggestions.
[edit] Audience Suggestions
The emcee will ask the audience for suggestions of 3 (hopefully ordinary) activities. He or she will then replace one or two typical aspects of these activities with non sequiturs suggested by the audience.
Example
Suggestion: Playing the Violin
EMCEE: Okay, "the guesser" is playing the violin, but instead of playing it with a bow,
what is he/she playing it with?
AUDIENCE: A chimp
EMCEE:
Alright and instead of playing in a concert hall, where is "the guesser" playing?
AUDIENCE: A pickle.
[edit] Rules
After the suggestions are gathered the audience will call the guesser back into the room by yelling Thingies, Thingies, Thingies!
Once he/she enters the door the 2 conveyors will have 3 minutes to convey the 3 operations to the guesser through the use of only mime and gibberish. When it seems likely that one of the 3 things has been conveyed, the emcee will say: "GUESSER, what are you doing?"
To this the guesser will respond with what he/she believes is the answer, so in the example above they would say:
"I'm playing the violin, but I'm not playing it with a bow, I'm actually playing it with a chimp, and instead of playing in a concert hall, I'm actually playing inside a pickle?"
If the guesser succeeds in guessing all 3 things in under 3 minutes the audience cheers and everything is awesome. If not, the suggestions were likely extremely weird and this game of 3 things may be remembered for all time.
[edit] Traditions
This is traditionally the last game played by the Ship of Fools during a formal show.
