Transcript

US Version

  • Narrator: Duck and Sir Handel were talking quietly to Culdee next morning at the Wharf, when Spencer stormed up, followed by Dennis.
  • Sir Handel: Hello!
  • Narrator: Chuckled Sir Handel.
  • Sir Handel: Here we go!
  • Spencer: I nearly came off!
  • Narrator: Wheeshed Spencer.
  • Spencer: Those cattle cars pushed me! Sir Topham Hatt says they didn't! He says I kept a bad look out! We have no money to mend you he said! So you will go back to the shed! Why does he pick on me?!?!
  • Narrator: Duck said nothing. He just winked at Sir Handel.
  • Dennis: I felt the same way!
  • Narrator: Dennis snapped.
  • Duck: Don't be mad.
  • Narrator: Chuckled Duck.
  • Duck: My coaches never push me.
  • Sir Handel: When I came to the railway Skarloey and Rheneas worked.
  • Narrator: Said Sir Handel.
  • Sir Handel: I used to think coaches are cattle cars, and I used to insult everything. But after last summer, I was now a wiser engine, and I never did the same ways again.
  • Culdee: I never acted like this.
  • Narrator: Said Culdee. Godred had the same way like this.
  • Duck, Sir Handel, Dennis and Spencer: Who?
  • Narrator: Asked the other engines.
  • Duck, Sir Handel, Dennis and Spencer: Is Godred?!
  • Culdee: Godred was our Number 1 of the railway. (segues to the story about long ago when Godred had an terrible accident)
  • Narrator: Replied Culdee.
  • Culdee: And named after a King. This went into his smoke box, and made him conceited. He never had a good look out. He rolled down the line looking anywhere but at the track.
  • (Godred is seen pushing his coach up the mountain. It fades to Culdee puffing up to Godred)
  • Culdee: You'll have accident, I told him.
  • Godred: Pooh!
  • Culdee: He said.
  • Godred: I have attimontiac brakes and driver says I use them more than I want!
  • Culdee: More sense from you, I say, no engine can stop at once, if it isn't obey's driver's controls!
  • (back to present)
  • Duck: The first thing an engine learns.
  • Narrator: Agreed Duck.
  • (segues back to Godred in the long ago story)
  • Culdee: Godred never learned scents! One morning, he was shunting in the yards. Often, when he was shunting, I warned him not to cause any accidents, but he still won't pay any attention. His driver, fireman and Sir Topham Hatt all spoke to him. They even took him into pieces to see if anything was wrong, they were in the same old way. The next morning, Sir Topham Hatt spoke to me.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: You are to take Catherine to pick up passengers.
  • Culdee: I was pleased, and I set off. On the way, I was going up, and waited at the station for Godred to pass me. As I waited, so it happened. Godred was still not paying attention from his driver and fireman.
  • Godred's Driver: Slow down, Godred!
  • Godred: Who cares?! I am taking my time!
  • Culdee: But he was wrong, as it was too late! (Godred derails)
  • Godred: OH HEEEELP!
  • (Godred slides backwards down the mountain, and tumbles over the edge. By the time a loud crash is heard, his coach is rolling on the rails, as the conductor brakes her to a stop)
  • Culdee: The driver and fireman had jumped clear, and the coach stayed on the rails, and the conductor braked her to a stop. (Fade to the sheds) Sir Topham Hatt spoke to is at the sheds.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: We have not money to repair Godred.
  • Culdee: He said sadly. I am sorry, I sighed sadly, and it was his fault.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: It was his fault, Culdee.
  • (back to present)
  • Spencer: What happened?!
  • Narrator: Asked Spencer.
  • Culdee: It's not nice to talk about.
  • Narrator: Said Culdee.
  • Spencer: But what happened?! Why wasn't it nice?!
  • Culdee: Our drivers used Godred's parts to mend us.
  • Narrator: Awnsered Culdee mournfully. Spencer and Dennis were unusually silent, after Culdee had gone home. Neither Duck or Sir Handel never mentioned that Culdee made the story up.
