  • Mr. Conductor 4: On the Island of Sodor, everyone agrees that is very important to keep the railroad tracks in good and safe condition. But sometimes, tracks get damage and they become buckled and bumpy.
  • Henry: Trembling Tenders! This is the bumpiest track I've ever seen!
  • Percy: Wobbling Wagons! My packages are being bumped and bounced all over the place!
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Thomas was taking Sir Topham Hatt and his family on a visit to upstate castle when they came to a very bumpy section of track.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Whoa! Whoa! Thomas, stop, stop!
  • Thomas: Cinders and Ashes!
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Hmm, oh dear. This bumpy track must be repaired as soon as possible. Carry on, Thomas, but slowly now.
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Soon, workmen started repairing a bumpy track. Each day, Sir Topham Hatt came by in Winston, his inspection car to see how the work was progressing.
  • Winston: Whoa!
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Ahem. Sorry, Winston.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Sir Topham Hatt was still not used to driving Winston.
  • Winston: Don't worry, Sir. Early days, early days.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: As he and Sir Topham Hatt left the other day, Winston was very patient.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Easy does it.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: But Winston could hear the other engines laughing at him, as they went pass.
  • Henry: (laughs) Here comes Wobbly Winston!
  • Gordon: Stop, start, stop, start, make up your mind, Winston.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: The next day, Sir Topham Hatt and Winston arrived again, to inspect the work on the track.
  • Winston: Don't forget to put on my brake, Sir.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Yes, I was just going to do that, Winston.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Sir Topham Hatt was always forgetting to put on the brake, and Winston always having to remind him.
  • Percy: What's going on, Winston? You look sad.
  • Winston: (sighs) It's Sir Topham Hatt. He's not a very good driver.
  • Percy: I expect he's still learning.
  • Winston: Well I wish he'd learn a bit faster. Sometimes I wish I could go off without my driver.
  • Percy: Don't be silly, Winston. You need a driver.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Off we go, Winston. Good day, Percy.
  • Percy: Goodbye, Sir.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Sir Topham Hatt drove on a little further. He stopped again to inspect more repairs.
  • Winston: Uh, don't forget to...
  • Mr. Conductor 4: But this time, Winston didn't remind him to put on his brake and Winston started to roll forward.
  • Winston: Without my brake on, I'm wearing on my very own. Whoo-hoo!
  • Workmen: (gasps)
  • Sir Topham Hatt: (gasps)
  • Winston: This is fun!
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Winston!
  • Winston: Faster, faster!
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Winston, come back here! Thomas, stop, stop! Follow that inspection car!
  • Thomas: Cinders and Ashes!
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Let's go!
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Winston: Whee-hee!
  • Emily: Look at that! It's Winston! And he has no driver!
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Come back, Winston, come back!
  • Gordon: Young Winston is heading for trouble. Big trouble.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Winston was having a time of his life. He was rolling down the line all on his own. But Thomas and Sir Topham Hatt were far behind.
  • Winston: Ha ha! No driver!
  • Mr. Conductor 4: When the signalman saw that Winston had no driver, he tried to switch off the main line. But he accidentally switched Thomas and Sir Topham Hatt instead.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: No, Thomas! Not this way!
  • Mr. Conductor 4: The signalman made an emergency call.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: There he goes! Faster, Thomas, faster!
  • Mr. Conductor 4: The second signalman received the message. He switched Thomas back on the main line.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Ha ha! We're catching up! Well done, Thomas!
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Meanwhile, Bertie was pulling up to a nearby crossing. He didn't know Winston was coming.
  • Winston: (gasps) Oh, no! The gates! Bertie! Sorry, Bertie, sorry.
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Thomas: Watch out, Bertie! Coming through!
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Stay where you are, Bertie! Don't move!
  • Bertie: All right, I won't move then. I wonder how long.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Winston came speeding up to a junction, when he saw Paxton up ahead. Winston's signal turned red. But he couldn't stop.
  • Winston: Watch out, Paxton!
  • Paxton: Whoa!
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Paxton put on his brakes. He stopped just in time.
  • Winston: Whoa!
  • Paxton: I wonder what the big hurry is?
  • Winston: I don't like this anymore. I wish I wasn't going so fast. I wish I could stop. I wish I had a driver.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Winston was racing towards Tidmouth Sheds. Then there was trouble. They were cars ahead and Winston couldn't stop.
  • Winston: Oh, no! I'm going to crash! Oh, no, oh, no! Oh, now what's happening?
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Winston was starting to slow down, slower and slower and slower, until he came to a stop.
  • Winston: What's happened?
  • Sir Topham Hatt: What's happened? You've run out of gas. That's what happened.
  • Winston: Phew. I think I was going to crash.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: That was very irresponsible. Going off without me and dangerous, too.
  • Winston: But it wasn't my fault, Sir. I mean, you forgot to put on the brakes, Sir.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Oh my.
  • Thomas: Oh my.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: I see. Of course, you're absolutely right, Winston. I should have put on the brake.
  • Winston: But I should have reminded you, Sir. I realize now that I do need a driver.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Oh well, no harm done, Winston. Early days, early days.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: All the engines were happy when the work on the line was finally finished.
  • Gordon: New tracks. That's better.
  • Percy: So, no more wobbling wagons.
  • Henry: No more shatters and shakes.
  • Thomas: Unless you're Winston, that is.
  • (Sir Topham Hatt and Winston laughing)
  • Mr. Conductor 4: The engines all laughed, but Winston didn't mind. He was glad to have Sir Topham Hatt back in the driving seat once again.
  • (Wayward Winston ends)
  • Mr. Conductor 4: So that's why Winston had a wild adventure.
  • Yugi: Wow, that's amazing.
  • Virgil: You'd be leaving right?
  • The Conductors: Yep.
  • (The Conductors disappear)
  • Ash: Let's all have a big party.
  • Others: Okay.
  • (Inside the Jukebox)
  • Tito: We Will Rock You, sung by me.
  • Didi: Sure.
  • Tex: Ye know what Tito says?
  • Rex: It's time for our new song.
  • Grace: Let's hit it, guys.
  • (Tito starts to sing We Will Rock You, with the others doing the instruments)
  • Tito: Buddy you're a boy make a big noise Playin' in the street gonna be a big man some day You got mud on yo' face You big disgrace Kickin' your can all over the place Singin' We will we will rock you We will we will rock you Buddy you're a young man hard man Shoutin' in the street gonna take on the world some day You got blood on yo' face You big disgrace Wavin' your banner all over the place We will we will rock you (Sing it!) • Mel: On A Journey Today is going to be exciting.
  • Penny: Guide us to the Anything Tunnel.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: You're on.
  • (We zoom to the Anything Tunnel and On A Journey Today starts)

  • (On A Journey Today ends)
  • Mr. Conductor 4: So journeys are journeys and we mean it.
  • Ash: Thanks for the offer.
  • Rikochet: Everything's in fine shape now.
  • Mr. Conductors 1, 2 and 3: Oh yes.
  • Mitchie: I remember my exercises.
  • Annie: And Thomas?
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Not really, but he had to take a shortcut here. Let me explain.
  • (Mr. Conductor 4 blows his whistle and Thomas' Shortcut starts)
  • Mr. Conductor 4: It was a sunny day on the Island of Sodor. Thomas was pulling Annie and Clarabel on his rout.
  • (Bertie's horn honks)
  • Mr. Conductor 4: They met Bertie coming along the road.
  • Bertie: Hello, slowcoach.
  • Annie: He warned him, Thomas.
  • Clarabel: He's teasing again.
  • Thomas: But you're not slowcoaches. You can go very fast.
  • Annie and Clarabel: He's not talking about us. (laughing)
  • Thomas: Look at that, two minutes early.
  • Bertie: Good thing I've hurried you or you would've been late.
  • Thomas: That's not true. I always get my passengers to the station on time.
  • Bertie: It must be slowing down though, Thomas. Lately, I've seen to be you on the level crossing every time.
  • Thomas: I'm not slowing down. I'll show you. Let's race again.
  • (Conductor's whistle blows)
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • (Bertie's horn honks)
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Thomas and Bertie think racing is great fun. Sometimes Bertie is quicker, especially when Thomas has to wait for sheep on the line. And sometimes Thomas is quicker, especially when Bertie has to stop for workmen repairing the road.
  • Annie: Slow down, Thomas. You'll burst your valves.
  • Clarabel: Your rattle and axles loose.
  • Thomas: I'm going to win, I'm going to win.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: But lately, every time they have a race no matter how fast Thomas puffs.
  • Thomas: Oh, no.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Bertie manages to win.
  • Bertie: You really are very slow these days, Thomas. (laughs)
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Thomas couldn't understand it. Why was Bertie always there first?
  • Thomas: I was going faster than ever.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Later, Thomas met Bertie again, but he wasn't sure if he was happy to see him.
  • Bertie: Hee-hee. Don't be cross, Thomas. Should I tell you my secret?
  • Thomas: What secret?
  • Bertie: I've been rerouted. Now I take a short cut so my rout is my quicker.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Thomas was very surprised. He didn't know Bertie could take a shortcut. That night, Thomas was very cross.
  • Thomas: It's not fair. I like to race Bertie, but he was rerouted.
  • Percy: What does rerouted mean?
  • Edward: It means to go a different way to the one you usually go on.
  • Percy: What's wrong with that, Thomas?
  • Thomas: Bertie takes a shortcut now, so we always wins.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Then, an idea flew into Percy's funnel.
  • Percy: So, why don't you take a shortcut too, Thomas? Then you could be rerouted just like Bertie.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Thomas thought that was an excellent idea. But Annie and Clarabel didn't.
  • Annie: But there's no shortcut on your branch line, Thomas.
  • Clarabel: If you go another way you could miss the station. Or make your passengers late.
  • (Conductor's whistle blows)
  • Mr. Conductor 4: But Thomas was determined.
  • Thomas: If Bertie could be rerouted, so can I.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Thomas arrived at Dryal Station just as Bertie was arriving too. Some passengers got off and some more passengers got on. But as soon as he could, Thomas was rushed away again.
  • Thomas: Bye bye, Bertie!
  • Bertie: See you soon, Thomas.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: He didn't want to lose another race.
  • Thomas: If Bertie could be rerouted, so can I.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Thomas came to a junction where the tracks were already switched.
  • Thomas: Maybe that's a shortcut.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: But he only ended up running along the loop siding and coming back onto his branch line again.
  • Thomas: Oh.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Then, Thomas found another track that led away from the branch line.
  • Thomas: Maybe that's a short cut.
  • Annie and Clarabel: We don't think so, we don't think so.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: This time, Thomas ended up in an old goods yard.
  • Thomas: Oh dear, that's not a shortcut either.
  • Annie and Clarabel: We told you so, we told you so.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: The passengers were grumbling, but Thomas didn't want to give up. Finally, Thomas spotted an old track that led him to the woods.
  • Thomas: This must be a shortcut.
  • Clarabel: There is no shortcut, Thomas.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Bertie was waiting for Thomas at the level crossing.
  • Bertie: He never usually takes this long.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Bertie's passengers were starting to grumble too. So Bertie went on his way. Thomas pushed his way along the overground track. Annie and Clarabel were not happy.
  • Annie: Thomas, please!
  • Clarabel: Where are we going?
  • Thomas: Don't worry. This shortcut is going somewhere. We'll be out of this woods soon and then...
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Thomas biffed along the buffer in the undergrowth and his wheels had come right up the track.
  • Thomas: Oh no, I can't back up! I'm stuck!
  • Mr. Conductor 4: The passengers were not happy. Now they were going to be very late indeed. Thomas felt terrible. And then, he saw his friend Bertie.
  • Bertie: Hello, Thomas. What are you doing in there?
  • Thomas: I was trying to find a shortcut, Bertie, but I've come off the rails and now my passengers will be late.
  • Bertie: (chuckles) Oh, dear. Heh. But maybe, I can take your passengers for you.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Thomas' passengers thought that was a very good idea indeed. But Thomas was still very silly. It was almost dark when Harvey came to shunt Annie and Clarabel out of the way before lifting Thomas back on to the rails again. Sir Topham Hatt was very cross.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Your passengers don't like to be late, Thomas. You have caused confusion and delay.
  • Thomas: I'm very sorry, Sir. I was hoping to find a shortcut, but I will stick to my branch line from now on.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: A few days later, Thomas was back on the track. He arrived at Knapford Station to pick up Annie and Clarabel.
  • Annie and Clarabel: Thomas, welcome back! We've missed you!
  • Thomas: Thank you, Annie and Clarabel. I missed you too.
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Thomas promised to stick to his branch line in his future. He wouldn't try taking shortcuts again.
  • Bertie: See you later, slowcoach.
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Mr. Conductor 4: But he and Bertie still like to have races, and sometimes...
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Mr. Conductor 4: Thomas even wins.
  • (Thomas' Shortcut ends)
  • Mr. Conductor 4: So that's why Thomas learned to never use a shortcut.
  • Mitchie: Gee, what's gonna happen next?
  • Annie: You'd be leaving, right?
  • The Conductors: Right.
  • (The Conductors disappear)
  • Ash: Well, it's all in good order.
  • Stacy: That's right, Ash.
  • Harry: We're happy to feel free.
  • Billy: And we deserve it.
  • Mel: I knew it's fun.
  • Penny: Exactly.
  • (Mel and Penny high 5 each other as the episode concludes)
  • (The end credits then show the train from the same opening)
  • (While they roll, Thomas, You're The Leader plays)
  • Chorus: It's Thomas (Thomas), You're the leader (leader). They're two, they're four, they're six, they're eight, Shunting trucks and hauling freight. Red and green and brown and blue, They're the useful crew (that's who). All with different roles to play 'Round Tidmouth Sheds and far away.
