This page is used to describe the uses of alchemy and the way it works in Akami more in depth.

Alchemy can be used to create potions that can:

  • Restore health
  • Increase stats
  • Induce buffs
  • Cure ailments

While there is no level requirement to use this skill, herbs are essential to creating any type of potion, in addition to containers to hold your concoctions, whether volatile or not.

In Akami, there are multiple types of ingredients, each with their own, unique properties. Some properties include:

  • Increase mana
  • Regenerate mana
  • Increase health
  • Regenerate health
  • Increase <stat>
  • Cure <ailment>

Vials are what hold your liquids after they are created. These vials can add some properties themselves. These include:

  • Add lead poison
  • Increase stat <number> by <number>
  • Decrease stat <number> by <number>

As you noticed, I mentioned lead poison. That means that if the potion is swallowed, it will cause lead poison, while also adding a three or four points to your lead immunity. If it is applied onto the weapon, it can induce lead poisoning on the opponent, while adding one or two points to their lead immunity.

Quality is a variable that affects multiple parts of a potion or poison.

Variant Causes

Quality varies because of a few things.

  • Chance
  • Professing
  • Quality of Ingredients

Quality can change at a random chance. There is a 1/50 chance of reducing the quality by one, and a 1/100 chance of increasing the quality by one.

If you have selected alchemy as one of your professions, it will increase the maximum quality from 40 to 50, and it increases the quality increase chance from 1/100 to 1/25.

Quality of Ingredients

The quality of the ingredients used in making the item is the basis for quality. The average quality used in the original construction is the original quality of the item.

Quality Effects

Quality's fluctuations, in alchemy, affect three things.

  • Potion effects
  • Value
  • Skill gained

Potion Effects

A potion's effects changes to quality on a 1/3 ratio. That is, 1 point per 3 quality.

Quality can affect vendor- and player-price value, since certain quality levels allow better enhancements to be bestowed through enchanting.

Skill Gained

Quality affects the skill exp gained from creating the item, also. The skill exp. increase is on a 1:5 ratio. That is, 1 experience point per 5 quality.

Alchemy is beneficial in that it can decrease the cost of potions for you. It is also the most flexible of the dependent skills. That is, you can do almost anything with it.

Alchemy's cons are that it requires some of the rarest ingredients, and it is also the most touchy of the dependent skills. That is, it can easily cause as much harm as good to the user.

Benefits of Professing

Professing in this skill means higher level recipes, advanced tool usage, and more visible properties in non-herbal ingredients.

Criteria of Suggesting a Crafting System

In order for your idea on how to make potions in Akami, your suggestion must at LEAST meet this criteria.

  • It must show the various ingredients used.
  • It must have a blueprint showing the required amounts of each ingredient in the potion.
  • It must require some type of measuring.

Other ways to improve your chances of getting your idea accepted include:

  • A colorful path to the vial used.
  • A playable prototype.
  • A humorous way of showing failure.
