At Home with Ernie and Bert is a Sesame Street direct-to-video compilation filled with classic songs and sketches by Ernie and Bert. Adapted from the album of the same name. In the framing segments, Bert and Ernie look at the scrapbook. Released in 1988


  • MUPPETS: After Bert gets mad at Ernie, Ernie imagines what life would be like without Bert (EKA: Episode 1034)
  • FRAME 1: Ernie finished cleaning up his toys and finds Bert looking at their scrapbook. Bert decides to share some memories with Ernie, he asks if he remembers the time they sang about the letter L.
  • MUPPETS: Ernie and Bert sing La, La, La (EKA: Episode 0321)
  • FRAME 2: Ernie then remembers the time it was so hot on Sesame Street that he had to turn on the fan.
  • MUPPETS: Bert tries to write a letter to Mr. Rogers, but finds it difficult when Ernie operates his electric fan right next to him. Bert blows up at Ernie and says he is "hot and bothered," and Ernie has just the thing for that: more cool air. (EKA: Episode 0573)
  • FRAME 3: Ernie then apologizes for bothering Bert with the fan. Bert then forgives Ernie and asks Ernie if he remembers the time he told the audience, "Everybody Wash"
  • MUPPETS: Ernie sings "Everybody Wash" (First: Episode 0001)
  • FRAME 4: Ernie decides to put a pot on Bert's head to make sure he remembered the time he put his pet fish into the cowboy hat. Bert recalls "Yeah, but hey, I look good with the pot on my head!"
  • MUPPETS: Ernie tries to put a pot on Bert's head. Bert asks Ernie why he's doing that, and Ernie says that he broke a cookie jar. Ernie has to put the cookies somewhere, so he put them in the sugar bowl – and put the sugar in the flowerpot, which meant that he had to put the flower in a milk bottle. He put the milk in the soda bottle, and the soda into the fishbowl, and the fish in Bert's cowboy hat. Bert asks, "Now what am I going to wear when I want to play cowboy?" Ernie puts the pot on Bert's head and says, "Ride 'em, cowboy, Bert!" (First: Episode 0279)
  • FRAME 5: Bert glances at his favorite vase and asks the audience if he remembers the time Ernie had to put away the vase.
  • MUPPETS: Ernie can't decide which of the two different shelves he should place a large vase on, so Bert tells him to use his imagination. Ernie imagines the vase falling off the little shelf and Bert kicking him out of the apartment. Then, Ernie imagines putting the vase on the big shelf, and Bert rewarding him with a big surprise party. (EKA: Episode 0310)
  • FRAME 6: Bert's vase falls down, and crashes and finds out that it was just Prairie Dawn playing ball and says she's sorry. Bert remarks he can always get another one. He then hears Ernie in the other room, and he goes to find out.
  • MUPPETS: Ernie calls his bathtub "Rosie" because whenever he takes a bath, he leaves a "ring around Rosie". Bert waits for his bath. (First: Episode 0001)
  • CARTOON: Poor Solomon Grundy washes a different part of the left side of his body every day, but at the end of the week, "he's still half dirty!" (First: Episode 0001)
  • FRAME 7: Ernie finally finishes his bath, and has to dust the shelf. Bert thinks Ernie is stalling, despite Ernie's objections. He just dusts the shelf without even taking the toys off the shelf. Bert just forgot and they went back to looking at the scrapbook.
  • MUPPETS: As Bert takes a nap, Ernie tells the viewer how he knows that Bert is asleep - thus waking Bert up, just to tell him it's time for his nap (First: Episode 0027)
  • FRAME 8: Ernie and Bert then sing "When I Was LIttle" to describe to the viewers what they used to be afraid of. Prairie Dawn pops in at the end and says she's afraid of the dark and she decides to look at the scrapbook too.
  • MUPPETS: Bert goes out to mail a letter, and depends on Ernie to let him in when he knocks. Instead of letting Bert in, Ernie repeats Bert's knocks on the drums  (First: Episode 0280)
  • FRAME 9: Prairie then asks how come the door is never unlocked, Bert replies that they like it that way.
  • MUPPETS: Ernie has heard that somebody in the neighborhood is sick. He looks in a medical book to find out how to tell if someone is sick... not realizing that Bert is the one with a cold (EKA: Episode 0673)
  • FRAME 10: Ernie soon realized that he didn't have time to find out if Bert was sick or not. Prairie Dawn explains it's because he was too occupied with the book than Bert. They then find Bert with The R Machine, and Ernie promptly starts reciting "R" riddles, while Bert protests that he will break the machine. Although the machine eventually explodes, it still responds to the letter R.
  • FRAME 10, cont'd: Ernie, Bert, and Prairie Dawn sing "I Refuse to Sing Along" Then they read the sponsors.
