Narrator: "Babs is a rabbit who lives in a burrow on Acme Acres. she is a cheeky little rabbit, with six big toes, a short, stumpy tail, two long ears, and a small pink nose.
She's a fussy little rabbit, too. Always bringing swans about, ready for the bigger animals to take on long journeys.
And when animals come in, she brings the swans back home so that the animals can go and rest.
Buster thinks no animal works as hard as he does. He loves playing tricks on them, including Melody, the biggest and proudest annoucer of them all. Babs likes whistling rudely at her."
Babs: "Wake up, lazy bones! Why don't you work hard, like me?"
Narrator: "One day, after taking the swans on a journey, Melody arrived back at the altar, very tired. She was just going to sleep when Babs came up in her cheeky way.
Babs: "Wake up, lazy bones, do some hard work for a change!" You can't catch me!"
Narrator: "And off she ran, laughing.
Instead of going to sleep again, Melody thought how she could get back at Babs.
One Morning, Babs wouldn't wake up. Her animator couldn't make her start. Her stamina was low and there was not enough strength. It was nearly time for the express. People were waiting, but the swans weren't ready.
At last, Babs started."
Babs: "Oh, dear, oh, dear!"
Narrator: "She yawned.
She fussed into the station, where Melody was waiting."
Melody: "Hurry up, you."
Narrator: "Said Melody."
Babs: "Hurry yourself!"
Narrator: "Replied Babs."
Narrator: "Melody began making his plan."
Narrator: "Said Melody,"
Melody: "I will."
Narrator: "And almost before the swans stopped moving, Melody reversed quickly and held the first one's hand."
Melody: "Get in quickly, please."
Narrator: "she whistled.
Babs usually pushed behind the swans to help them start, but they always let go of her first. This time, Melody started so quickly, they forgot to let go of Babs. Melody's chance had come."
Melody: "Come on, come on,"
Narrator: "Puffed Melody to the swans.
The line went faster and faster. Too fast for Babs. she wanted to stop, but she couldn't!"
Babs: "Hey, hey! Stop, stop!"
Melody: "Hurry, hurry, hurry!"
Narrator: "Laughed Melody."
Swans: "You can't get away, you can't get away!"
Narrator: "Laughed the swans.
Poor Babs was going faster than she had ever gone before. she was out of breath, and her feet hurt her, but she had to go on."
Babs: "I shall never be the same again."
Narrator: "she thought sadly."
Babs: "My feet will be quite worn out."
Narrator: "At last, they stopped at a station.
Babs let go, and she felt very silly and exhausted.
Next, she sat on a turntable, thinking of everyone laughing at her.
And then she ran onto a path, out of the way."
Melody: "Well, little Babs,"
Narrator: "Chuckled Melody."
Melody: "Now you know what hard work means, don't you?"
Narrator: "Poor Babs couldn't answer. She had no breath. She just puffed slowly away to rest, and had a long, long drink.
She went home very slowly, and was careful afterwards never to be cheeky to Melody again."
