Narrator: "In the summertime, the stationmasters enjoy a friendly competition for the most beautiful location in TV Land. The TV characters love to help too.

One evening, Mayor Adam west came to the house."

Mayor Adam West: "I want Bart to collect some flower bushes for Springfield."

Narrator: "He said."

Mayor Adam West: "They're at Elwood City."

Bart: "Elwood City?"

Narrator: "Bart said."

Bart: "Y-y-yes sir."

Narrator: "He added nervously.

Bart chuffed anxiously through the thickening fog. He doesn't like traveling to Elwood City at night. The road passes through a junction next to a spooky old quarry mine.

Bart hoped the light at the junction would be green. He didn't want to stop next to the mine. But the light was red. He had to stop.

Suddenly he saw something."

(Chimney sinks into the ground)

Bart: "Bouncing feet!"

Narrator: "Cried Bart. His driver hadn't seen the old chimney sink into the ground. The light changed. Bart was so scared, he raced away as fast as he could.

The next day, Bart was telling Mario and Luigi about the disappearing chimney."

Mario: "It's the naughty gnomes!"

Narrator: "Teased Mario."

Luigi: "Wee fat men with big feet. They make strange things happen."

Narrator: "Said Luigi."

Luigi: "It's legend. They steal your feet and pinch your head!"

Narrator: "Bart didn't want to believe them, but he wasn't sure.

Mayor Adam West was waiting for Piglet at the park."

Mayor Adam West: "I want you to collect some goombas from the abandoned mine."

Narrator: "He said."

Bart: "Y-y-yes sir."

Narrator: "Bart answered. But he really didn't want to go there again.

Bart hoped he wouldn't see anything else disappear. He slipped into the sidings and buffered up to the pirates."

Bart: "Spooky!"

Narrator: "Stammered Bart. Suddenly, another building at the old mine sank into the ground."

(Building sinks into the ground)

Bart's Driver: "What was that?"

Narrator: "Shouted his driver."

Bart: "Double bouncing feet!"

Narrator: "Shrieked Bart. He was so scared, he lurched forward and rammed the goomba."

Bart: "Naughty gnomes!"

Narrator: "Cried Bart. He raced away faster than before, all the way back to Springfield.

Bart's driver told Mayor West what they had seen."

Bart: "It's the naughty gnomes!"

Narrator: "Cried Bart."

Bart: "They like to cause trouble. It's legend!"

Mayor Adam West: "Nonsense!"

Narrator: "Said Mayor Adam West."

Mayor Adam West: "The old buildings are collapsing at empty mine shafts. That's all."

Bart: "But I saw the gnomes!"

Narrator: "Protested Bart."

Mayor Adam West: "Of course you did."

Narrator: "Said Mayor West."

Mayor Adam West: "Garden gnomes."

Bart: "Garden gnomes?"

Mayor Adam West: "To decorate Springfield."

Narrator: "Mayor West said."

Mayor Adam West: "They're not scary. Garden gnomes bring good luck."

Narrator: "And he ordered Bart to return immediately and get them.

Bart was scared, but he knew he had to be responsible. So he carried on."

Bart: "I'm not scared, I'm not scared."

Narrator: "He waited for something else spooky to happen. But it didn't, and Mayor West was right. The garden gnomes weren't scary at all.

His driver and fireman had collected the gnomes, and Bart took them straight back to Springfield.

Later that week, the stationmaster thanked Bart."

Stationmaster: "We wouldn't have won our competition without your garden gnomes."

Narrator: "Bart was very proud."

Bart: "You were right, sir. Naughty gnomes can be lucky after all."
