From Scratchpad
This article refers to a section of Fool Lore regarding Benji's Prowess at 3 Things. Eventually a shorter name should be given to this article.

[edit] Summary
Here will eventually be a brief statement describing the overall feeling one got watching Benji play 3 Things over the past 3-or-so years.
(I personally recuse myself of this on account of my lack of eloquent writings skills, and my tendency to over-exaggerate Benji's prowess which may be misinterpreted as an insult of other fools.)
Certainly, while Benji has an amazing talent, the contributions of John "Freshman/Tripod" Tubergen, Ryan "T-Rex" Garwood, and John "Cowboy" Clawson to these feats cannot be overlooked.
[edit] Memorable Things
Many games of 3 Things stick out in the memory of Purdue Improv Regulars. This is likely because it is typically the last game played at weekly meetings and Improv Shows. Some of the memorable games come not so much from Benji's successes, but in fact when he is unable to get one suggestion correctly.
[edit] Mary Poppins
At one point, in the Spring of 2005 (confirm/deny date) Benji was unable to interpret Mary Poppins, despite the best efforts of Ryan "T-Rex" Garwood which included running up the tables of BRNG 2280 with a mimed umbrella in hand and singing her songs in gibberish.
[edit] Jabba-Jabba Jabba-Jabba
Perhaps the most epic and easily referenced 3 Things suggestion (date unknown) was that Benji was doing Ti Chi only instead of doing it on a mat, he was doing it in Chi Tea. T-Rex and Tripod were able to convey that Benji was doing Ti Chi. When trying to convey the Chi Tea aspect, they proceeded stretch out both hands one at a time, saying, "Jabba Jabba" and then switched around the position of the 2 hands again saying "Jabba, Jabba" this time with a different inflection. This gesture has become synonymous with this occurrence and is instantly recognized by the people who were in attendance that night.
[edit] Ruing Ohio
At 'Provstock 05, Benji successfully deduced the clue that he was "ruing his location of Ohio, instead wishing he was in the tundra." This was perhaps the first and best of a series of amazingly complex suggestions that Benji has been able to interpret, and has often been the reason regulars have felt justified in making such suggestions.
[edit] Mitosis or Meiosis
During one weekly meeting the suggestion given was that Benji was going through mitosis. During this game, Benji took the time to distinguish whether the suggestion was mitosis, or meiosis.
[edit] Podium or Lectern
During a different weekly meeting, one suggestion from the audience involved a podium. Paul, the MC for the game, pointed out that despite popular belief, a podium is actually the raised platform on which a speaker stands, and not the object they stand behind (which is a lectern). The audience dismissed this fun fact as irrelevant. However, when Benji's clue-givers mimed the object a speaker stands behind, Benji correctly guessed "lectern" before reverting to "podium".
[edit] AOO 2006
During the AOO Show in 2006 Benji correctly guessed that he was falling off of a balcony made of Jello, being pulled to the ground by faith instead of gravity.
[edit] Hammond Show
During The Towle Theater Performance Benji nearly interpreted not one, but 3 extraordinarily outlandish suggestions:
- Exfoliating his pancreas with turpentine.
- Having his gallbladder removed at Wal-mart.
- Skydiving out of an expensive car, using a roller coaster instead of a parachute.
All this, in 2 minutes and 32 seconds.
[edit] Humid Lands?
Once, Benji was saving the wetlands, but instead of wetlands they were Humid-lands. Tripod and T-Rex attempted to convey the word humid via human pyramid. During this attempt they gave "The Signal" Purdue Improv regulars jumped onto the stage and started to form a Human Pyramid. This was not the intent of the signal, and having to dissolve this structure, John and Ryan did not have enough time to convey the suggestion properly.
[edit] AOO 2007
A memorable suggestion from the 2007 AOO Show was that Benji was having Anna Nicole Smith's baby, only it wasn't a baby it was actually the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Technodrome.
[edit] Hillenbrand
During a performance at Hillenbrand Hall Benji correctly determined that he was putting on North Dakota instead of shoes.
[edit] Proposal
In one of his last games of 3 Things, Benji proposed to his fiancé Corrie in the middle of 3 Things, still knowing actual suggestion of proposing with to Karl Marx with a Ring Pop.
