Better Late Than Never and Other Stories (Mickey and Friends Version)

The Mickey and Friends version of Better Late Than Never and Other Stories is a Disney/Thomas parody of the Thomas and Friends US release of the same name. It features two first season episodes and five second season episodes of Mickey Mouse the Disney Character and Friends narrated by Ringo Starr.

Transcript

Better Late Than Never

Narrator: "The Disney Characters were finding life difficult. Workmen were mending the viaduct on the main road.

The arches needed strengthening. Professor Porter did not want to close the land while the work was done. And so repairs took a long time.

The Disney Characters had to take great care when crossing the viaduct. And the delay often made them late on their journey to the junction where they knew Mickey would be waiting to collect his passengers.

Mickey grew crosser and crosser."

Mickey: "Time's time!"

Narrator: "He grumbled."

Mickey: "Why should I have to keep my passengers waiting while Baloo and Donald dawdle about all day on viaducts?"

Baloo: "Don't blame me!"

Narrator: "Snorted Baloo."

Baloo: "If we hurry across the viaduct, it might collapse. And then you'd have no passengers at all. What would you do then?"

Mickey: "Make my deliveries on time for one thing!"

Narrator: "Retorted Mickey. He hurried away before Baloo could answer.

Tod was impatient too. He was timed to arrive just after Mickey. His passengers found that instead of going straight from their fox to their mouse, they were kept waiting till Mickey arrived.

Soon, Tod grew cross with Mickey."

Tod: "Late again!"

Narrator: "He remarked, as Mickey panted wearily in."

Tod: "We maybe friends, but I thought you could go fast, Mickey. It's time we have another race. I reckon I can beat you now."

Narrator: "Mickey wheeshed loudly."

Mickey: "Rubbish!"

Narrator: "He hissed fiercely."

Mickey: "It's those main road Disney characters! They dither about on the viaduct, and they blame Professor Porter's workmen. It's just an excuse for laziness if you ask me!"

Narrator: "One day, Donald was later than ever at the junction."

Donald: "I'm sorry, Mickey."

Narrator: "He puffed."

Donald: "I was held up at the station, and the viaduct made it worse."

Mickey: "It's lucky for you I'm a guarantee connection!"

Narrator: "Grumbled Mickey. Before Donald could answer, he puffed importantly away."

Mickey: "Come along, come along."

Narrator: "He panted to the ducks. Abigail and Amelia did their best, but Mickey soon found that he couldn't save much time.

Suddenly, Mickey saw Tod ahead. He didn't look well."

Mickey: "What's the matter?"

Narrator: "Asked Mickey."

Mickey: "You should be at the station by now. You're late!"

Tod: "I feel dreadful."

Narrator: "Moaned Tod."

Tod: "All upset inside, and driver says he can't make me better. Thank goodness you're late too. Can you take my passengers, please? They'll never get home otherwise."

Mickey: "Of course."

Narrator: "Agreed Mickey. He now felt sorry for Tod, and promised to get help at the next station.

Mickey set off again. Already, he felt much more cheerful. And Tod's passengers, traveling with Abigail and Amelia, all reached home safely.

When Tod was better, he came to thank Mickey."

Tod: "I'm sorry I teased you about being late."

Narrator: "He said."

Mickey: "That's alright."

Narrator: "Said Mickey."

Mickey: "I'm glad I could help. There are times when being late isn't such a bad thing after all."

Narrator: "With a last cheerful greeting, the two friends went back to work."

Pop Goes the Captain

Narrator: "Robin Hood is proud of being a fox. He talks endlessly about it, but he works hard too, and makes everything go like clockwork. It was a splendid day.

The pirates and flowers behaved well, the passengers even stopped grumbling, but the Disney Characters didn't like having to bustle about."

Robin: "There are two ways of doing things,"

Narrator: "Robin told them."

Robin: "The Fox Way, or the Wrong Way. I'm a fox, and..."

Baloo, Sir Ector and Donald: "Don't we know it!"

Narrator: "The Disney Characters were glad when a visitor came.

He purred smoothly towards them. Professor Porter introduced him."

Professor Porter: "Here is Captain Hook. I have agreed to give him a trial. He needs to learn, please teach him, Robin."

Captain Hook: "Good Morning."

Narrator: "Purred Captain Hook in an oily voice."

Captain Hook: "Pleased to meet you, Robin. Is that Donald, and Baloo, and Sir Ector too? I am delighted to meet such famous Disney Characters."

Narrator: "The silly Disney Characters were flattered."

Piglet, Donald, Baloo and Sir Ector: "He has very good manners."

Narrator: "They murmured."

Piglet, Donald, Baloo and Sir Ector: "We are please to have him in our yard."

Narrator: "Robin had his doubts."

Robin: "Come on!"

Narrator: "He said. Captain Hook purred after him."

Captain Hook: "Your worthy Porter..."

Robin: "Professor Porter to you!"

Narrator: "Ordered Robin.

Captain Hook looked hurt."

Captain Hook: "Your worthy Professor Porter thinks I need to learn. He is mistaken. We captains don't need to learn. We know everything. We come to a yard and improve it. We are revolutionary."

Robin: "Oh?"

Narrator: "Said Robin."

Robin: "If you're revo-thingummy, perhaps you would collect my pirates while I fetch Sir Ector's flowers."

Narrator: "Captain Hook, delighted to show off, purred away.

When Robin returned, Captain Hook was trying to take some pirates from a siding. They were old and empty. They have not been touched for a long time. Captain Hook found them hard to move."

Captain Hook: "Pull! Push! Backwards! Forwards!"

Pirates: "Oi! Oi!"

Narrator: "The pirates groaned."

Pirates: "We can't! We wont!"

Narrator: "Robin watched with interest.

Captain Hook lost patience."

Captain Hook: "Grrrr!"

Narrator: "He roared, and gave a great heave. The pirates jerked forward."

Pirates: "Oh! Oh!"

Narrator: "They screamed."

Pirates: "We can't! We wont!"

Narrator: "Some of their joints snapped, and their legs jammed in the lower body."

Captain Hook: "Grrrr!"

Robin: "Ho ho ho!"

Narrator: "Chuckled Robin.

Captain Hook recovered and tried to push the pirates back, but they wouldn't move. Robin ran quietly around to collect the other pirates."

Robin: "Thank you for arranging these, Captain Hook. I must go now."

Captain Hook: "Don't you want this lot?"

Robin: "No thank you."

Narrator: "Captain Hook gulped."

Captain Hook: "And I've taken all this trouble? Why didn't you tell me?"

Robin: "You never asked me. Besides,"

Narrator: "Said Robin."

Robin: "You were having such fun being rev-whatever it was you said. Good-bye."

Captain Hook: "Grrrr!"

Narrator: "Captain Hook had to help the workmen clear the mess.

He hated it. All the pirates were laughing and singing at him."

Pirates: "Pirates are waiting in the yard, tackling them with ease'll show the world what I can do, gaily boasts the Captain, in and out he creeps about, like a big red weasel, when he takes the wrong pirates out, Pop goes the Captain!"

Captain Hook: "Grrrr!"

Narrator: "Growled Captain Hook, and scuttled away to sulk in the house."

Captain Hook's Devious Deed

Narrator: "Captain Hook, the new Disney Character, was sulking. The pirates would not stop singing rudely at him.

Robin Hood was horrified."

Robin: "Shut up!"

Narrator: "He ordered, and bumped them hard."

Robin: "I'm sorry our pirates were rude to you, Captain Hook."

Narrator: "Captain Hook was still furious."

Captain Hook: "It's all your fault! You made them laugh at me!"

Baloo: "Nonsense!"

Narrator: "Said Baloo."

Baloo: "Robin would never do that. We Disney Characters have our differences, but we'd never talk about them to the pirates. That would be dis... dis..."

Sir Ector: "Disgraceful!"

Narrator: "Said Sir Ector."

Donald: "Disgusting!"

Narrator: "Put in Donald."

Baloo: "Despicable!"

Narrator: "Finished Baloo.

Captain Hook hated Robin. He wanted him to be sent away, so he made a plan; he was going to tell lies about Jiminy.

Next day, he spoke to the pirates."

Captain Hook: "I see you like jokes. You made a good joke about me yesterday, I laughed and laughed. Robin told me one about Sir Ector. I'll whisper it.

Don't tell Sir Ector I told you."

Narrator: "And he snickered away."

Pirates: "Ha ha ha!"

Narrator: "Guffawed the pirates."

Pirates: "Sir Ector will be cross with Robin when he knows.

Let's tell him and get back at Robin for bumping us!"

Narrator: "They laughed rudely at the Disney Characters as they went by.

Soon, Sir Ector, Baloo and Donald found out why."

Sir Ector: "Disgraceful!"

Narrator: "Said Sir Ector."

Donald: "Disgusting!"

Narrator: "Said Donald."

Baloo: "Despicable!"

Narrator: "Said Baloo."

Baloo, Sir Ector and Donald: "We cannot allow it!"

Narrator: "They consulted together."

Baloo, Sir Ector and Donald: "Yes,"

Narrator: "They said."

Baloo, Sir Ector and Donald: "He did it to us, we'll do it to him, and see how he likes it!"

Narrator: "Robin was tired out.

The pirates had been cheeky and troublesome.

He wanted a rest in the house.

The three Disney Characters barred his way."

Donald: "Keep out!"

Robin: "Stop fooling!"

Narrator: "Said Robin."

Robin: "I'm tired!"

Baloo, Sir Ector and Donald: "So are we."

Narrator: "Hissed the Disney Characters."

Baloo, Sir Ector and Donald: "We're tired of you. We like Captain Hook. We don't like you. You tell tales about us to the pirates."

Robin: "I don't!"

Baloo, Sir Ector and Donald: "You do!"

Robin: "I don't!

Baloo, Sir Ector and Donald: "You do!"

Narrator: "Professor Porter came to stop the noise."

Sir Ector: "Robin called me a galloping sausage!"

Narrator: "Spluttered Sir Ector."

Donald: "Rusty white scrap iron!"

Narrator: "Put in Donald."

Baloo: "I'm old square feet."

Narrator: "Fumed Baloo."

Professor Porter: "Well, Robin?"

Narrator: "Robin considered."

Robin: "I only wish, sir,"

Narrator: "He said gravely,"

Robin: "That I'd thought of those names myself. If the hat fits..."

Professor Porter: "Ahem..."

Baloo, Sir Ector and Donald: "He made pirates laugh at us!"

Narrator: "Accused the Disney Characters.

Professor Porter recovered. He'd been trying not to laugh himself."

Professor Porter: "Did you, Robin?"

Robin: "Certainly not, sir. No fox would be as mean as that!"

Narrator: "Captain Hook lurked up."

Professor Porter: "Now, Captain Hook, you heard what Robin said."

Captain Hook: "I can't understand it, sir. To think that Robin, of all Disney Characters... I'm dreadfully grieved, sir, but know nothing."

Professor Porter: "I see."

Narrator: "Said Professor Porter.

Captain Hook squirmed, and hoped he didn't."

Professor Porter: "I'm sorry, Robin, but you must go to Hercules' station for a while. I know he will be glad to see you."

Robin: "As you wish, sir."

Narrator: "Robin trundled sadly away, while Captain Hook smirked with triumph."

A Close Shave for Robin

Narrator: "Robin Hood puffed sadly to Hercules' station."

Robin: "It's not fair!"

Narrator: "He complained."

Robin: "Captain Hook has been telling lies about me, and made Professor Porter and all the Disney Characters think I'm horrid."

Narrator: "Hercules smiled."

Hercules: "I know you aren't, and so does Professor Porter. You wait and see. Why don't you help me with these pirates?"

Narrator: "Robin felt happier with Hercules, and set to work at once.

The pirates were silly, heavy and noisy. The two Disney Characters had to work hard, pushing and pulling all afternoon. At last, they reached the top of the hill."

Robin: "Good-bye!"

Narrator: "Whistled Robin, and rolled gently over the crossing to the other line.

Robin loved coasting down the hill, running easily with the wind whistling past. Suddenly, it was a conductor's warning whistle!"

Pirates: "Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah!"

Narrator: "Laughed the pirates."

Pirates: "We've broken away! We've broken away! Chase him! Bump him! Throw him off the road!"

Narrator: "They yelled."

Robin's Driver: "Hurry, Robin, Hurry!"

Narrator: "Said the driver. They raced through Hercules' station, but the pirates were catching up."

Robin's Driver: "As fast as we can, then they'll catch us gradually!"

Narrator: "The driver was gaining control."

Robin's Driver: "Another clear mile, and we'll do it!"

Robin: "Oh, glory, look at that!"

Narrator: "Donald was just pulling out on their line from the station ahead. Any minute, there could be a crash!

Robin's Driver: "It's up to you now, Robin!"

Narrator: "Cried the driver.

Robin put every ounce of weight and strength against the pirates."

Robin: "It's too late!"

Narrator: "Robin groaned, and shut his eyes. He veered into a siding where Pete the Cat set up shop. He was shaving a customer."

(CRASH!)

"The silly pirates had knocked their conductor down, and left him far behind after he had whistled a warning.

But the pirates didn't care. They were feeling very pleased with themselves."

Robin: "Beg pardon, sir."

Narrator: "Gasped Robin."

Robin: "Excuse my intrusion."

Pete: "No, I won't!"

Narrator: "Said Pete."

Pete: "You've frightened my customers! I'll teach you!"

Narrator: "And he lathered Robin's face all over. Poor Robin.

Mickey was helping to pull the pirates away, when Professor Porter arrived."

Pete: "I do not like Disney Charcters popping through my walls!"

Narrator: "Fumed Pete."

Professor Porter: "I appreciate your feelings,"

Narrator: "Said Professor Porter."

Professor Porter: "But you must know that this fox and his crew have prevented a very serious accident. It was a very close, um, shave."

Pete: "Oh!"

Narrator: "Said Pete."

Pete: "Oh! Excuse me."

Narrator: "He filled a basin of water to wash Robin's face."

Pete: "I'm sorry. I didn't know you were being a brave fox."

Robin: "That's all right, sir. I didn't know that either."

Professor Porter: "You were very brave, indeed."

Narrator: "Said Professor Porter."

Professor Porter: "I'm proud of you."

Narrator: "Professor Porter watched the rescue operation, then he had more news for Robin."

Professor Porter: "And when you are properly washed and healed, you are coming home."

Robin: "Home, sir? Do you mean the yard?"

Professor Porter: "Of course."

Robin: "But sir, they don't like me. They like Captain Hook."

Professor Porter: "Not now. I never believed Captain Hook, so I sent him packing. The Disney Characters are sorry and want you back."

Narrator: "A few days later, when he came home, there was a really rousing welcome for Robin Hood."

Sir Ector Takes a Dip

Narrator: "Sir Ector was resting in a siding."

Sir Ector: "Sometimes,"

Narrator: "He thought."

Sir Ector: "It's very tiring to be such a large and splendid man. One does have to keep up appearances so."

Baloo: "Peep, peep, peep, peep! Hello, lazybones!"

Narrator: "Whistled Baloo."

Sir Ector: "What cheek!"

Narrator: "Spluttered Sir Ector."

Sir Ector: "That Baloo is too big for his feet. Fancy speaking to me like that. Me, who has never had an accident."

Piglet: "Aren't jammed whistles and pulled muscles accidents?"

Narrator: "Asked Piglet innocently."

Sir Ector: "No, indeed. High spirits, might happen to any Disney Character. But to come off the road like Baloo did, well I ask you. Is it right? Is it decent?"

Narrator: "Then it was Baloo's turn to take the express. Sir Ector watched him getting ready."

Sir Ector: "Be careful, Baloo. You're not pulling the Flying Kipper now. Mind you keep on the road today."

Narrator: "Baloo went off in a huff, and Sir Ector yawned and went to sleep. But not for long."

Sir Ector's Driver: "Wake up, Sir Ector."

Narrator: "Said his driver."

Sir Ector's Driver: "A special load's coming and we're to take it."

Sir Ector: "Is it flowers or pirates?"

Sir Ector's Driver: "Pirates."

Narrator: "Said his driver."

Sir Ector: "Pirates?"

Narrator: "Said Sir Ector."

Sir Ector: "Pooh!"

Narrator: "Sir Ector's body was slow to start. So Hercules had to help Sir Ector to the turntable to get him facing the right way."

Sir Ector: "I won't go, I won't go!"

Narrator: "Grumbled Sir Ector."

Hercules: "Don't be silly, don't be silly."

Narrator: "Puffed Hercules.

At last, Sir Ector was on the turntable. The movement had shaken his body. It was now moving nicely.

Sir Ector was cross and didn't care what he did. He waited till the table was half way around."

Sir Ector: "I'll show them, I'll show them!"

Narrator: "He hissed.

He moved slowly forward to jam the table, but he couldn't stop himself and slid into a ditch."

Sir Ector: "Oosh!"

Narrator: "He hissed."

Sir Ector: "Get me out, get me out!"

Sir Ector's Driver and Fireman: "Not a hope."

Narrator: "Said his driver and fireman."

Sir Ector's Driver and Fireman: "You're stuck you silly great man. Don't you understand that?"

Narrator: "They telephoned Professor Porter."

Professor Porter: "So Sir Ector didn't want to take the load and ran into a ditch?

What's that you say? The special's waiting? Tell Hercules to take it, please. And Sir Ector? Oh, leave him where he is. We'll get him out later."

Narrator: "On the other side of the ditch, some little boys were chattering."

Boys: "Cool! Doesn't he look silly? They'll never get him out."

Narrator: "They began to sing."

Boys: "Silly old Ector fell in a ditch, fell in a ditch, fell in a ditch! Silly old Ector fell in a ditch, all on a Monday morning!"

Narrator: "Sir Ector laid in the ditch all day."

Sir Ector: "Oh dear!"

Narrator: "He thought."

Sir Ector: "I shall never get out."

Narrator: "But that evening, they lifted Sir Ector, and made a roll of sleepers under his feet to keep him from the mud. Strong ropes were fastened to his back end, and Donald and Baloo, pulling hard, managed to bring him to safety.

Late that night, Sir Ector crawled home, a sadder and wiser man."

Down the Mine

Narrator: "One day, Mickey was at the junction, when Sir Ector shuffled in with some pirates."

Mickey: "Phew!"

Narrator: "Remarked Mickey."

Mickey: "What a funny smell.

Can you smell a smell?"

Abigail: "I can't smell a smell."

Narrator: "Said Abigail."

Mickey: "A funny, musty sort of smell."

Narrator: "Said Mickey."

Sir Ector: "No one noticed it till' you did."

Narrator: "Grunted Sir Ector."

Sir Ector: "It must be yours."

Narrator: "Not long ago, he had fallen in a dirty ditch. Mickey enjoyed teasing him about it."

Mickey: "Abigail, Amelia, do you know what I think it is? It's ditchwater."

Narrator: "Before Sir Ector could answer, Mickey puffed away.

Abigail and Amelia could hardly believe their ears."

Abigail and Amelia: "He's dreadfully rude, I feel quite ashamed. I feel quite ashamed, he's dreadfully rude."

Narrator: "And to Mickey, they said,"

Abigail and Amelia: "You mustn't be rude, you make us ashamed."

Narrator: "But Mickey didn't care a bit."

Mickey: "That was funny. That was funny."

Narrator: "He chuckled. He felt very pleased with himself.

Abigail and Amelia were deeply shocked. They had great respect for Sir Ector the Man.

Mickey left the ducks at the station, and went off to a mine for some pirates.

Long ago, miners digging for lead had made tunnels under the ground. Their rooves are strong enough to hold up pirates, but not the weight of Disney Characters. A large notice warns them not to enter the area.

Danger! Disney Characters must not pass this board."

Mickey: "Silly old board."

Narrator: "Thought Mickey.

He had often tried to pass it, but had never succeeded, but this morning, he made a plan.

The fireman went to throw the switch."

Mickey: "Now for my plan."

Narrator: "Thought Mickey.

Bumping the pirates fiercely, he jerked his driver off the footplate and followed them into the siding."

Mickey's Driver: "Come back!"

Narrator: "Yelled his driver."

Mickey: "Fire and smoke!"

Narrator: "Said Mickey."

Mickey: "I'm sunk!"

Narrator: "And he was."

Mickey: "Oh, dear."

Narrator: "He said."

Mickey: "I am a silly mouse."

Professor Porter: "And a very naughty one, too. I saw you!"

Narrator: "Said Professor Porter."

Mickey: "Please get me out, I won't do it again!"

Professor Porter: "I'm not sure. We can't lift you out with a crane. The ground's not firm enough.

Hmmm. Let me see. I wonder if Sir Ector could pull you out."

Mickey: "Yes, sir."

Narrator: "Said Mickey, but he didn't want to meet Sir Ector just yet."

Sir Ector: "Down a mine, is he? Ha, ha, ha!"

Narrator: "Laughed Sir Ector."

Sir Ector: "What a joke!

All right, little Mickey, we'll have you out in a couple of puffs!"

Narrator: "Strong cables were fastened between the two Disney Characters."

Professor Porter: "Are you ready?

Heave!"

Narrator: "It was a lot harder than they all thought, but at last, Mickey was free.

Mickey: "I'm sorry I was cheeky."

Narrator: "Said Mickey."

Sir Ector: "That's alright, Mickey. You made me laugh."

Narrator: "Replied Sir Ector."

Sir Ector: "I'm in disgrace."

Mickey: "So am I."

Narrator: "Said Mickey."

Sir Ector: "Why so you are, Mickey. Shall we form an alliance? You help me, and I'll help you."

Mickey: "Right you are!"

Narrator: "Agreed Mickey."

Sir Ector: "Good, that's settled."

Narrator: "Rumbled Sir Ector.

And hand to hand, the allies puffed home."

The Runaway

Narrator: "Mickey Mouse was ill. Workmen had tried to make him better, but it was no use."

Professor Porter: "Hercules must take you to the works."

Narrator: "Said Professor Porter.

Mickey felt very miserable.

Then, Professor Porter spoke to Robin Hood."

Professor Porter: "I want you to help Piglet and Friar Tuck while Mickey is away."

Narrator: "Robin was delighted.

He already knew Piglet, and soon made friends with Friar Tuck and Tod. Lumiere the Candle gave him a big welcome too."

Lumiere: "Take care of Mickey's ducks."

Narrator: "He advised."

Lumiere: "He's sure to miss them while he's away."

Narrator: "Robin was very gentle with the ducks. Abigail and Amelia were impressed."

Abigail and Amelia: "Such nice manners."

Narrator: "They told each other."

Abigail and Amelia: "It really is a pleasure to go out with him."

Narrator: "When Mickey came back, Abigail and Amelia told him how well Robin had managed. Mickey was so pleased to be home that he soon forgot to be jealous.

The works had left Mickey's feet very stiff. It made his feet seem as if they weren't moving, when in fact they were.

As a result, he and his ducks often over ran the platform. Mickey found this most embarrassing.

Gradually, his driver and fireman learned to be extra careful. But one day, Mickey's fireman was ill and a relief man took his place.

The fireman had tied the ropes, and joined the driver and stationmaster on the platform to wait for Baloo's passengers. The fireman had forgotten all about Mickey's feet. Mickey simmered happily."

Mickey: "Not long now."

Narrator: "He thought, as he saw Baloo slowly approaching.

But then, Mickey felt his feet begin to move. He tried to stop, but he couldn't without his driver and fireman. He tried to whistle a warning, but he couldn't do that either. The conductor, driver, fireman and passengers were all stranded on the platform."

Abigail and Amelia: "Stop, stop!"

Narrator: "Shrieked Abigail and Amelia. But Mickey, with plenty of energy, kept on going. The alarm went off down the path."

Signalman: "Stop the runaway!"

Narrator: "There, ready for action, was Dumbo the Elephant. The Inspector had made a plan, and together they took off into the sky.

At last, Mickey was tiring."

Mickey: "I need to stop, I need to stop."

Narrator: "He panted wearily.

As they neared the next station, Mickey saw Dumbo land.

They entered the platform slowly enough for the Inspector to act. Judging his moment, the Inspector jumped on Mickey and stopped him.

At last, Mickey stopped. Both he and the Inspector were very relieved. Then they thanked Dumbo."

Dumbo: "Thank nothing of it."

Narrator: "Whirled Dumbo."

Dumbo: "Glad to be of service anytime."

Inspector: "Phew!"

Narrator: "Remarked the Inspector."

Inspector: "We must never let this happen again, Mickey."

Narrator: "Wearily, Mickey agreed with him."
