Episode Summaries

  • Edward and Gordon - Gordon gets stuck up a hill and little Edward helps him out. Gordon rushes away but The Fat Controller is very pleased with Edward.
  • Thomas Goes Fishing - Thomas has always wanted to go fishing. One day he gets his chance but it doesn't turn out quite the way he expected.
  • Thomas and Bertie - Thomas the Tank Engine and Bertie the Bus decide to stage their own version of the Great Race.
  • Tenders and Turntables - Sometimes things get very busy in the yard and The Fat Controller has to ask the big engines to do shunting. They don't like it and decide to take action.
  • Trouble in the Shed - The big engines go on strike so The Fat Controller decides to leave them to sulk and a new engine arrives in the yard, Percy the Saddle Tank Engine.
  • Coal - For all his size and his shiny green coat, Henry has always been a rather delicate engine. The Fat Controller decides to put things right.
  • The Flying Kipper - Henry is very proud the day he pulls "The Flying Kipper", the morning train from the fish quay. But snow jams a signal down and disaster strikes.
  • Thomas in Trouble - Thomas is stopped by a policeman and Toby the Tram Engine comes to the rescue.
  • Dirty Objects - James the Red Engine learns that it is wise not to speak rudely to other engines. You never know what will happen next.
  • Off the Rails - Gordon the big express engine is very upset when he has to pull a train of big trucks. He decides to try a spot of sabotage but gets far more than he bargained for.
  • Down the Mine - Thomas tries some mischief and gets in a hole. Gordon has to help him out. Both engines are in disgrace so they decide to form an alliance and never be cheeky to each other again.
  • The Runaway - Duck looks after Annie and Clarabel whilst Thomas is ill. When Thomas returns, the coaches discover that Thomas is still in trouble.
  • Pop Goes the Diesel - Duck orders the big engines about and they are glad when oily Diesel arrives, but Duck has his doubts and the trucks misbehave.
  • Dirty Work - Diesel is sulking and decides to make trouble between Duck and the other engines.
  • A Close Shave - Duck has a chase with runaway trucks and pays a surprise visit to a barber's shop.
  • Better Late Than Never - The Railway is being repaired. Delays make life difficult for Thomas and his friends.
  • Break Van - Donald and Douglas are delightfully disorganised twin engines from Scotland, and when they arrive they cause The Fat Controller a great deal of trouble. They are worried that The Fat Controller will order one of them to leave his Railway. A break van makes matters worse until James helps in a surprising way.
  • The Deputation - When Donald and Douglas come to Henry's rescue, the other engines give the twins their full support.
  • Daisy - Thomas is in trouble. The Fat Controller sends for Daisy, a diesel rail-car to run his Railway. Daisy is spoilt and hard to please - as everyone soon discovers.
  • The Diseasel - Some silly trucks cause trouble between Bill and Ben the tank engine twins and a diesel called BoCo. Confusion reigns until Edward puffs in.
  • Wrong Road - Edward suggests Gordon runs a branch line for a change. Proud Gordon the mainline engine refuses until one day he travels on a branch line by mistake.
  • A Scarf for Percy - Percy dreams of wearing a nice, warm, scarf around his funnel to keep out the winter winds. What a surprise he gets when his wish comes true!
  • Thomas, Percy and the Dragon - Percy has a terrible fright when he confronts a huge Dragon, but nobody believes him. Luckily, Thomas explains everything.
  • Diesel Does it Again - Percy and Duck are outraged when Diesel arrives at the harbour. Chaos Ensues.
  • Henry's Forest - Henry's favorite place on the Island of Sodor is the forest. He is very sad when a storm damages the trees. Terence and Trevor come to the rescue.
  • Trust Thomas - Bertie learns that he can trust an engine - especially if his name is Thomas. Though Gordon and James prove to be less trustworthy.
  • Mavis - Here, we welcome Mavis, a young diesel engine who works at the Quarry. She causes Toby a lot of trouble, because she still has much to learn about trucks.
  • Edward, Trevor and the Really Useful Party - Edward and Trevor might be old, but they are Really Useful. Their contribution to the vicar's garden party makes everything a success.
  • Buzz, Buzz - James boasts about his bravery but when a swarm of bees start buzzing around him he wishes that they would get back to making honey and leave him to make steam!
  • All at Sea - When the Island of Sodor Regatta is held, Duck wishes he could sail away to faraway lands like the boats on the water. It takes an important journey to make him really proud of his wheels again.
  • Thomas and Percy's Christmas Adventure - The snowfalls have come and villagers are stranded. Together Harold, Terence, Thomas and Percy come to the rescue and get a nice surprise for all of their hard work.
  • Special Funnel - A strong wintry wind makes Peter Sam's funnel wobble. An icicle in the tunnel brings disaster, but Peter Sam is given a very special new funnel.
  • Gallant Old Engine - Duncan is grumbling about passengers not being important, so Skarloey tells him the story about how Rheneas saved the railway from closure by struggling home on one cylinder with a train jammed full of passengers. Duncan realises just how wrong he was.
  • Bowled Out - Daisy is feeling unwell and The Diesel comes to stand in for her. He is very rude to the other engines by saying that they are only fit for the scrap heap. All the engines wanted to teach him a lesson and their chance comes sooner than they think, when the Inspector's hat mysteriously disappears.
  • Train Stops Play - Stepney watches a cricket match while waiting at a signal. As he sets off again, he doesn't realise that the ball has landed in one of the trucks. Caroline the Car sets off with the players in pursuit of Stepney, the trucks and the cricket ball!
  • Paint Pots and Queens - It is a proud day for all the engines on The Fat Controller's Railway as the Queen is coming to visit. Henry misses the chance at pulling the Queen's train when a pot of paint gets tipped over him, but Gordon and Thomas are there to help out.
  • Fish - Henry is pulling the Flying Kipper and more vans are needed as a special load of fish has been ordered. Duck helps Henry get up Gordon's Hill by pushing from behind, but gets more than he bargained for when a tail lamp falls off the train.
  • Mind that Bike - Tom Tipper the postman is always happy to help out loading Thomas and Percy's post trains with sacks of letters. When Tom's post van is replaced with a bicycle he no longer has time to help them, but Percy accidentally does Tom a favour by breaking his bicycle.
