Narrator: "Parker's visit to the Announcer's racetrack was coming to an end."
Announcer: "We shall miss you."
Narrator: "Said the Announcer.
Then he turned his attention to all the other Wacky Racers."
Announcer: "My racetrack is very busy, and I'm pleased with you, but... you need help. A Baron is all that's available. Please do your best to avoid any... ahem, disturbances."
Lazy Luke: "What does that mean?"
Narrator: "Whispered Luke."
Red Max: "That means this Baron is difficult!"
Narrator: "Snapped Red Max.
And he was.
The Dread Baron surveyed the sheds."
Dread Baron: "Not bad. I've seen worse. At least you're all clean."
Narrator: "The Racers glared."
Dread Baron: "It's not your fault, but the Announcer should get rid of you and get men like me. A fill of energy, a start on the day, and I'm off! No bother, no waiting. They have to fuss round you for hours before you're ready."
Narrator: "The Racers were furious!
Next morning, they held an indignation meeting round the racetrack."
Rufus Ruffcut: "Disgraceful!"
Red Max: "Disgusting!"
Blubber Bear: "Despicable!"
Rock and Gravel: "To say such thing to us!"
Narrator: "Cried Rock and Gravel."
Rock and Gravel: "It's to teach him a lesson we be wanting. Now, how do we do it?"
Narrator: "Their chance came sooner than expected. The Dread Baron was purring comfortably.
An inspector watched a fitter making final adjustments. The wind tugged at the inspector's hat.
The Dread Baron was ready."
Dread Baron: "Look at me, Luke and Parker! Now I'll show you something!"
Narrator: "He rolled proudly towards his log cars.
Then, it happened."
(Dread Baron splutters and coughs)
"Shaking and spluttering, the Dread Baron stopped.
Meanwhile, the inspector was looking for his hat. The Dread Baron seethed with fury as Luke and Parker pushed him back to the shed."
Railway Inspector: "My hat!"
Narrator: "Exclaimed the Inspector."
Railway Inspector: "You've sucked it through your air intake!"
Announcer: "Bother your hat!
The heavy logs are due out. You'll have to take them, Luke. Parker, will you help, please?"
Parker: "Thank you, Sir."
Narrator: "Cried Parker."
Parker: "I'd like a good, long run on my last day."
Narrator: "The racers were soon ready."
Announcer: "Rufus will take over from halfway, so get the logs to there. Good luck!"
Parker: "Don't worry."
Narrator: "Smiled Parker."
Parker: "We'll get there, and be early, too!"
Narrator: "The cavalcade moved carefully over the racetrack and out to the open line."
Parker: "Now for a sprint!"
Narrator: "Puffed Parker."
Luke: "I'm ready when you are!"
Narrator: "Replied Luke.
Soon, they were whizzing through Peter's station, and next, they were charging at Rufus' hill beyond.
They felt the drag of the heavy log cars here. It was hard work.
At last, they were running smoothly along the line toward the big station."
Rufus Ruffcut: "Hello, you're early!"
Narrator: "Said Rufus."
Rufus Ruffcut: "That's one in the head for old Baron!"
Parker: "Red Max says he's sick as boiler sludge and sulking in the shed."
Rufus Ruffcut: "Serves him right for saying we're out of date!"
Narrator: "Next morning, everyone came to say good-bye to Parker."
Wacky Racers: "Come back and see us soon!"
Narrator: "Whistled the Wacky Racers."
Parker Perfect: "And you are always welcome on my Future Racetrack, too!"
Narrator: "Replied Parker. Then, he puffed away.
What about Dread Baron? He'd slipped out while no one was looking. But he left two things behind; a rather nasty smell, and a battered bowler hat."
