Because the noticeboard case is unlocked, and there's a pen-onna-string inside, any Villager can, at any hour of the day or night:

• see who's offering a lift, who's riding with whom, who needs a lift, who's going by train, etc.
• note the contact details of a lift offerer, and call her/him to arrange to car share
• write in their offer, need, confirmed car share space, or intention to train it

@Hannah – This idea can work hand-n-hand with your suggestion of using a new, separate email list for socialising our transport needs, because any info from email traffic on that list can simply by copy-n-pasted to our own open, free, public, editable, online Car Sharing (Rides Offered / Rides Wanted) & Train Sharing Noticeboard.
