This website talks about one of the early forms of computer and entertainment which is video gaming. I chose this website because it describes how this trend of using computers for entertainment first started and how it progressed. There is a lot of historical information and a lost of factual evidence. ZS, Spring 06
http://www.pandora.com/ I was introduced to this amazing online radio website a few months ago. This is not merely one of every other millions online radio stations, Pandora predicts what new music might appeal to you based on your current tastes. It has certainly changed the nature of radio, and provided a new refreshing way of entertainment to the users, free of charge.
The author has pin pointed the possibility of fees being charged for tuning into the Internet radio. Where does the fund for improving this technology as well as royalties of musics played come from?
The idea behind Internet radio, or even better --Pandora which takes the users' music preferences and returns other artists in the database with similar musical qualities, is definitely a big bonus plus to radio listeners who just want to listen to music. Yet, is Internet radio here to stay or just a fad for tech enthusiasts?

This website has a survey of about 650 parents that think a child should not be fined from illegally using a computer to download music or movies. They think that the school should get fined if they are caught doing it at school instead of the student.

I found it verey interesting that people can learn such things as geography, spelling etc. from playing games on the computer. This is one of the best way to get edducated is by playing games while at the same time learning. http://store.thetech.org/edtoygiffork.html
Another article is about a poor man becoming more educated through the using the computers: DK http://www.atimes.com/media/CI22Ce01.html

This website provides statistics about the gaming industry and shows how widespread it alrady is, and expected to grow even more in the future. One interesting aspect of this was the incrwase in online gaming, which show how computers can make our world a smaller place, even when it comes to entertainment.

This website discusses how the home entertainment system is now revolving around the computer, which is an important transition from older technologies such as TVs, and radios.
I think that both these articles do not reflect all sides of the issues facing soociety. These websites are mainly descriptive of the phenomenon, but do not really address the issues that may result from it, such as, lack of family interaction.

This is Google’s recently released video on demand site. It features many different shows you can download and watch on your computer. One of their biggest draws is that you can download NBA games. This may impact television networks that count on sports for a large portion of their revenue. I like this idea because if I'm traveling, I can download a game and watch it while I'm on the airplane, or sitting in my hotel room where the local team game isn't available. Have you ever downloaded and NBA game? If so, why? http://news.com.com/Adult+industry+welcomes+.xxx+domain+rejection/2100-1047_3-6071748.html?tag=st.rn
What would a discussion on computers and entertainment be without a topic about pornography? This article is the latest in a heated decision regarding the creation of an .xxx domain. There is a lot of debate regarding this and at one point last year it was even approved. Some say it would make legal porn distinct from child porn, while others believe it will lead to more government regulation, some worry that site regarding gay marriage will be forced to use the .xxx domain. This debate will probably continue for time. How do you feel about an .xxx domain? ck spring 2006

Without any doubt, the E3 expo, the largest entertainment gathering out of all conventions, is the heaweight in video gaming. The importance of video entertainment cannot be underestimated, simply because the industry now contributes 50 billion dollars worldwide in cumulative gross. Taking this into account, this medium of convention allows us to preview what mechanisms and devices will play out best in the market...RR Spring 06

One of the more interesting developments in human-computer integration, the touchscreen is a view panel that provides a tactile response to human hands on any medium of panel; viewscreen methods include air, LCD, water, and amorphous liquid. The touchscreen is bound to create a splash in the development of entertainment when it becomes financially realistic...RR Spring 06

This site talks about the revolution of video games, how it first started, and what will become of video games in the future. It is interesting because it explains how video games have slowly advanced to target older and older people of our society. It it said that the average game player is approaching 30 years old and how video games are becoming a trend--- just like television once was.
Jippi offers free online games. It is important in my opinion because since games are now becoming more and more popular and entertaining the society, the addiction level of games keeps on increasing and this may cause issues because it could affect one's time that could be spent on other more activities such as school or work.

This is one site I found which covers ways in which videogames have an impact on society. This is very interesting as lawmakers have become critical on violent videogames and have pushed to make laws preventing or restricting their sales. One agrument this website covers in some of its articles is whether such videogames do make people angry or violent, as some politicians beleive.
