CVS Photo Centers are a part of most CVS/pharmacy stores and essentially constitute the Photo Department of the store. Available at the Photo Center is On-Site and outside lab film processing; digital processing via on-site backlab and self-serve kiosks; Passport Photos, photo reprints and enlargements (from negative, digital or print, photo gifts, photo restorations, photo greeting cards and a variety of other services.
Stores are required to keep their Photo Center operational at the same schedule as the general Front Store, except 24 hour stores.
The Photo Department has two primary positions; Photo-Lab Supervisor and Photo-Lab Technician. However general Front Store Management are required to be photo trained and staff from other departments are often cross-trained. Personnel cross-trained and certified in Photo ar considered equivalent to Photo Techs even though they possess a job code from another department.
The Photo-Lab Supervisor is the department head that oversees the Photo Center. There is usually only one per store. The Supervisor is responsible for operations; paperwork; personnel training and in limited ways, selection; photo loss prevention; quality control; sales building and a host of other responsibilities, the scope of which varies from store-to-store based on the Store Manager, District policies and other factors. Supervisors are required to be position certified as Techs plus complete management related modules in the Photo Currriculum.
