Cable Design is the process of routing flexible or semi-ridged cables from one interface to another interface.

Issues include :

  • Interface Designation
  • Cable Lengths
  • Bundling cables
  • Minimum bend radius
  • Tie-downs/panpoles
    • spacing away from attaching parts
    • spacing between tie-downs
  • "Pass Through" points where cables go through holes in other parts

Possible workflow:

  1. Start with interface designations
  2. Simple cable routed directly between interfaces
  3. User bends cables
    1. Select point to start bend
    2. Select drag & position end of bend
    3. Cable stretches/contracts to accomidate bends
  4. User can define "pass thru" points and attach points
