Captain (Officer Position)

Elections held once a year at the secret business meetings of the Ship of Fools determine the Captain for the following school year. The Fools may be pirates, but they are hierarchically capable pirates.
Clarification: The Captain of the Ship of Fools (to date) is the same student as the President of the Purdue University Improvisation Club, which is a required officer position by the University.

The duties of the Captain include:
- Maintaining the club
- Directing the comedic development of members and the club as a whole
- Organizing practices, meetings, and shows
- Keeping the club abreast policy changes, events, and other information
- Recruiting new members
- Hosting and emceeing practices, meetings, workshops, and shows
- Defending against rival factions, other pirates
- Archiving relevant artifacts and items
- Room reservations
Note: some duties are delegated.

A competent Captain must be familiar with the following:
- Piracy
- The internet, money
- University procedures and policy regarding official clubs
- Social psychology and group dynamics - leadership and charisma
- Comedy
- A thorough knowledge of the games and style of the group
- Basic SoF history and lore
