Cartoon Network Studios started in 1989 as a branch of Hanna-Barbera Studios dedicated to making programs for Cartoon Network. They were responsible for several of Hanna-Barbera's late shows such as Dexter's Laboratory and The Powerpuff Girls. After William Hanna died in 2001, the Hanna-Barbera name was retired, except for classic Hanna-Barbera cartoons. The Hanna-Barbera Studio was mergered with Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios became it's own entity.
