The Central office houses the DsLam and VDSL bridges to which the CPE ADSL modem interfaces. One house in a street acts as the CO. All the other houses connects to the CO via their CPE equipment. The CentralOffice should be in the centre of the street to minimize cabling runs. Each CO connects orthogonally to the next street CO via fiber - creating a huge community telephone exchange.
