The popularity of the game Here Comes Vague Charlie, brought back into the limelight by Andy "Quasar" Ober has created a sort of mythos around the character of Charlie. Beyond the game, references to the bland and statistically average man have come up on numerous occasions. He has a Facebook profile that describes some of his characteristics.

Often, members of the Ship of Fools will draw attention to the normalcy of an event or situation by suggesting Charlie is a regular participant or is uninterestingly related (in the same manner as the game). In essence, the humor is derived from making obvious statements about a boring man.

Examples include:

• Charlie has a wife and 2.5 children. He drives a beige Kia.
• Charlie dislikes spending time with his inlaws.
• Charlie listens to pop music on his iPod.

Sometime in Spring 2006, a group of Fools went out to eat at Steak 'n Shake and spent the entire length of the meal attributing aspects to Charlie. This made up the entire meal dialogue and lasted for over an hour straight. (Expand, if possible...)
