Me3

Welcome everyone, to my journey to success. Along with fellow BECA 670 students, I hope to inform, enlighten and inspire you to be the most proactive students at San Francisco State University. I hope to provide you with helpful and entertaining material to get you through your BECA career.

A Little Bit About Me

I was born in beautiful San Salvador in 1982. A year later I migrated to the United States (specifically San Francisco) with my family to escape the volatile climate of the civil war. Growing up I watched a lot of Hispanic television, such as Primer Impacto, a Hispanic version of Inside Edition, and began my journey to success. I watched every episode religiously and studied the beautiful anchors. In my teen years, I began watching more American local news and entertainment gossip news.

By the end of high school, I was determined to do entertainment news. I thought: “This is where the money is. It’s a life of luxury and traveling.” As I grew older and began my college career, my journey to a successful life in gossip news was beginning to dissipate. At City College of San Francisco and S.F. State, I emerged myself into all types of media and cultural studies. The more I learned about the influences media have on children, women, and men, the more I wanted to focus on media literacy in schools.

I have a little more than a year left at S.F. State and I find myself at a crossroad. Soon I will make a decision on where my life will take me. I have three options to choose from:

1) Follow my heart at the age of 15 and begin my successful journey in E! News.

2) Follow my heart at the age of 24 and begin my successful journey educating children on the effects of media.

Or…

3) Follow my heart and try to balance option 1 and 2 at the same time.

My journey has just begun and I hope I will be able to provide you with useful material to help you as a BECA student.

The World of Blogging

I was recently introduced to the world of blogging, thanks to my BECA 670 class. This was a world that I was completely oblivious to but as a BECA major I think it is crucial to explore. It is a good way to communicate and let your ideas, frustrations and passions be known. I have created my own blog so check it out!

Introducing You to Google Reader

Another great tool that I have come across during my BECA career is Google Reader. Google Reader is a great tool for anyone wanting to keep track of news, blogs, or even your favorite website all in one place. Anytime there is an update on your favorite site, Google Reader lets you know. This has been a convenient tool for me because I can keep track of Google News, my BECA 670 class blog, and even get updates on celebrity gossip from Perez Hilton without having to go to three different sites. It’s great and if you are already a Google user you can start subscribing to your favorite sites.
