[edit] Introduction

This Scratchpad will offer a place to comment on commentaries, i.e., books that explicate books in the Christian scriptures. The default perspective is Protestant and broadly evangelical. Other views are welcome, though a wiki writer should signal that a critique comes from something other than the default view. Otherwise, wiki writers should conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy. Readers of this Scratchpad have probably found useful Tremper Longman's Old Testament Commentary Survey or D.A. Carson's New Testament Commentary Survey. These excellent books suffer from two shortcomings that a wiki can solve: they are out of date the moment they are published, and they offer no way for a reader to find full-length reviews of the works described. Accordingly, all comments are welcome, especially comments on the most recent works and links to full-length reviews.
