The Communications Officer is a position in the Ship of Fools activated as needed to handle the various needs of marketing for the improv group. The Fools may be pirates, but they are image conscious pirates.

The duties of the Communications Officer include:

• Advertising
• Creating promotional items for upcoming shows
• Contacting various media outlets
• Improving the image of the improv group
• Emailing the fans and followers of the Ship of Fools regarding shows and other information
• Specific projects as needed

A competent Communications Officer must be familiar with the following:

• Piracy
• The internet
• Advertising, business, marketing
• Various forms of campus advertising and media
• University rules and regulations for flyers
• Mass communication technology
• Utilizing technology (cameras, computers, television and sound equipment, etc.)

• Benji "Hallway" Milanowski unofficially served as the COMOFF when he first joined in 2003 by creating flyers and emailing fans

Note: Sgt. Benji "Hallway" Milanowski was responsible for emailing the fans and followers for the majority of his time with the Ship of Fools

• Alex "SOG" Semchuck fall 2006 - spring 2007; arguably the best suited COMOFF as SOG has experience in creating press releases and advertising
