Script

  • (We open this episode with a CGI Thomas passing over a bridge)
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas and Friends: Making Tracks To Great Destinations.
  • (We then find a book with Thomas in it. It opens and reads itself)
  • Rev W. Awdry: Dear Christopher. Here is your friend Thomas the Tank Engine. He wanted to come out of the station yard and see the world. These stories tell you how he did it. I hope you will like them because you helped me to make them. Your loving daddy.
  • (The series then starts with the Season 8-10 intro. After that, the Island of Sodor opening sequence starts)
  • Michael Brandon: The Island of Sodor is surronded by beautiful blue sea. It has fields of green and sandy yellow beaches. There are rivers, streams, and lots of trees where the birds sing. There are windmills and a coal mine, and docks are visitors to the island arrived. The island also has lots and lots of railway lines. Who's that puffing down the track?
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Michael Brandon: It's Thomas!
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Michael Brandon: Hello, Thomas!
  • Thomas: Hello, everybody! Welcome to the Island of Sodor!
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • (Toby's bell rings)
  • (Trevor's whistle toots)
  • (Edward's whistle toots)
  • (An engine puffing by sequence then happens and we start today's episode)
  • Michael Brandon: Today on the Island of Sodor, we find out what happens when Toby find out he's stronger than he thought. But first, there are spooky goings-on at the smelter's yard.
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin Halloween)
  • Michael Brandon: It was full steam ahead on the Island of Sodor. All the engines were running on time. They wanted to finish their work quickly, because tonight was Halloween. The engines love seeing the children in their Halloween costumes. And the engines love to hear tales of ghostly engine since scary steam trains. That evening, Sir Topham Hatt came to Tidmouth Sheds.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Thomas and Emily, you must go to the smelter's yards.
  • Michael Brandon: He said.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: An important delivery of iron must be collected right away.
  • Thomas and Emily: Yes, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: They puffed. Percy thought the smelter's yard was spooky. He was worried about his friends.
  • Percy: Look out for ghost.
  • Michael Brandon: He whistled nervously.
  • Percy: It is Halloween.
  • Thomas: There's no such things as ghost.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas said cheerfully.
  • Emily: It's just silly make-believe.
  • Michael Brandon: Added Emily. And they steamed off to the smelter's yard. The sun was setting and it was getting dark.
  • Thomas: Imagine being scared on Halloween.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Thomas.
  • Emily: Or the smelter's yard.
  • Michael Brandon: Sniffed Emily.
  • Thomas: Pah.
  • Michael Brandon: Added Thomas. Thomas and Emily enjoy feeling brave. But when they got to the smelter's yard, it was very spooky.
  • Emily: Oh, my.
  • Michael Brandon: Whispered Emily.
  • Thomas: Oh, dear.
  • Michael Brandon: Hissed Thomas. They puffed slowly through the piles of shagged steel and twisted scrap. The air grew hotter and the smoke grew thicker. 'Arry and Bert were lurking nearby. The two diesels saw a chance to scare a couple of steamies. When Thomas and Emily rolled by, they moaned and groaned. It sounded spooky.
  • Emily: What was that?
  • Michael Brandon: Snapped Emily.
  • Emily: You said there was no such thing as ghosts.
  • Thomas: Silly make-believe you said.
  • Michael Brandon: Gasped Thomas. Suddenly, a freight car had began to shudder and shake.
  • Thomas: Cinders and Ashes!
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Thomas.
  • Emily: Help!
  • Michael Brandon: Wailed Emily.
  • Emily: It's a ghost! Let's get away from here!
  • Michael Brandon: They didn't know 'Arry and Bert had been bumping the flatbed's buffers. The two naughty diesels were having great fun. Thomas and Emily pulled up to the smelter shed. They gasped at the ghostly shadows and fizzing sparks. Their wheels felt as if they were frozen. But they had to go inside.
  • Thomas: I hope the ghost hasn't gone in there.
  • Michael Brandon: Quaked Thomas.
  • Emily: Me too.
  • Michael Brandon: Quivered Emily. And they both rolled slowly into the smelting shed. Inside, chains clanked and strange shadows dance across the walls.
  • Thomas: Must be brave, must be brave.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas puffed. But it was spooky. Emily was turning around ready to shunt some freight cars. Suddenly, a great whoosh of sparks lit up the shed.
  • Emily: Bust my buffers!
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Emily. Emily was scared. She didn't notice the huge white tarp. It fell covering her from funnel to footplate.
  • Emily: The ghost! It's got me!
  • Michael Brandon: She steamed away as fast as her pistons could pump. Thomas thought Emily was a ghost and he raced out of the smelting shed.
  • Thomas: The ghost is after me!
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Thomas. 'Arry and Bert thought Emily was the ghost too and they raced away. Thomas was right behind them. And Emily was right behind Thomas.
  • Emily: Help!
  • Michael Brandon: Emily cried.
  • Emily: The ghost! It's got me!
  • Michael Brandon: 'Arry, Bert, Thomas and Emily raced towards Tidmouth Sheds. Tidmouth Sheds was quiet and peaceful. All the engines were fast asleep. Thomas' whistle soon woke them up.
  • Percy: It's Thomas!
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Percy.
  • Percy: Something must be wrong!
  • Michael Brandon: Suddenly, he saw Thomas, 'Arry and Bert racing into the yards.
  • Percy: Stop!
  • Michael Brandon: He cried. 'Arry, Bert and Thomas applied their brakes. They stopped just in time.
  • Thomas: The ghost is after us!
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Thomas. Percy was scared. But just then, Emily raced under the signal and the tarp flew off.
  • Percy: That's no ghost!
  • Michael Brandon: Said Percy.
  • Percy: That's Emily!
  • Michael Brandon: The engines didn't feel scared anymore, but they did feel foolish. Sir Topham Hatt arrived wearing his pajamas.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: What is all this fuss and bother?!
  • Michael Brandon: He boomed.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: It has caused confusion and delay!
  • Thomas: But, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Thomas.
  • Thomas: The flatbeds were rattling.
  • Emily: And we heard moaning.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Emily.
  • Thomas: And groaning.
  • Michael Brandon: Added Thomas. Sir Topham Hatt looked at 'Arry and Bert.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Do you know anything about this?
  • Michael Brandon: He asked sternly.
  • Bert: It was us, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Bert mumbled.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: For your punishment, you go back and collect the iron at once.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Bert: Yes, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Said 'Arry and Bert and they rumbled away. Whenever Thomas and Emily went back to the smelter's yard. They knew there was nothing to be scared of. After all, there was no such thing as ghosts. It was all silly make-believe.
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin a learning segment)
  • Michael Brandon: Every engine on the Island of Sodor looks different. Can you tell who this is? This engine is dark green. It's only a small roof on the cab. But it's got a very tall funnel. Do you know who it is yet? Here's another clue. This engine's got very big wheels. There's only one engine on Sodor who has wheels like that. Do you know who it is? Yes, it's Emily! Hello, Emily!
  • (Emily's whistle toots)
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin Ode To Gordon)
  • Children: (singing) We'll sing a song for Gordon, He's big, he's fast, he's proud His paint is blue, so strong and true, And his whistle's really loud! The fastest train on Sodor, You can't forget his name So when we've sung for Gordon, well, Let's sing it once again Through wind and rain he thunders on On him we can rely Reliable and useful too And that's the reason why We'll sing a song for Gordon, He's big, he's fast, he's proud His paint is blue, so strong and true, And his whistle's really loud! The fastest train on Sodor, You can't forget his name So when we've sung for Gordon, well, Let's sing it once again!
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin another learning segment)
  • Michael Brandon: It's a beautiful day on the Island of Sodor. Percy has been chosen to take some children to the seaside. But Percy feels nervous. It's a very special job. Percy wants the children to have a wonderful day. What can Percy do to make himself feel better? Percy can fill his water tanks at the water tower. Then, Percy knows he can make lots of steam and keep his engine nice and cool all day. But what can Percy do to make himself feel good? Percy can have a lovely long washdown. Percy loves being clean and shiny. Now Percy looks his very best. What can Percy do next to feel good about his trip? Percy can make sure his tender is full of coal. Percy looks his best and is ready to go. Percy can steam ahead and know he'll arrive safely and on time. So what did Percy do? First, Percy fills his water tanks with water at the water tower. Then, Percy had a really good wash. Finally, he made sure his tender was full of coal. Now Percy feels like a really useful engine and he is ready to collect the children. Have a nice day at the seaside, Percy!
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin another learning segment)
  • Michael Brandon: Toby is a steam tram. He looks very different from the other engines. He is square and his body is made of wood. Toby is not as strong as the other engines, but he always tries his hardest. One morning, Toby was delivering some freight cars of milk. He puffed across the island and up Gordon's Hill. Gordon's Hill was very steep. Toby puffed hard. It was a long climb. Just then, Gordon arrived at the bottom of the hill. But today, the express was heavy. And Gordon had to wait for Edward to help.
  • Gordon: Bother!
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Gordon. Soon, Edward puffed to the rescue. He buffered up behind Gordon. Edward pushed and Gordon pulled. At last, the express train started to move. Toby had finally reached the top of the hill when Gordon puffed past.
  • Gordon: Slowcoach!
  • Michael Brandon: Gordon huffed.
  • Toby: I'm trying my hardest.
  • Michael Brandon: Gasped Toby.
  • Gordon: Pah!
  • Michael Brandon: Sniffed Gordon.
  • Gordon: You're not even a proper engine.
  • Michael Brandon: This made Toby feel very sad. That night, Sir Topham Hatt came to see Toby.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Edward is needed at the docks.
  • Michael Brandon: Sir Topham Hatt said.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: You want to work at Wellsworth yard in his place.
  • Toby: But I'll never be able to do Edward's job.
  • Michael Brandon: Toby cried.
  • Toby: He's a proper engine.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Nonsense.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: You are one of my engines and you must be useful.
  • Michael Brandon: Toby was very worried. What if he wasn't useful? The next morning, Toby puffed nervously out of the shed.
  • Toby: I hope no one needs pushing up Gordon's Hill.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Toby. Toby wished he was a proper steam engine. At last, Toby arrived at Wellsworth yard. There were lots of freight cars and they looked very heavy.
  • Toby: I'll never be able to shunt all of those.
  • Michael Brandon: Toby puffed.
  • Thomas: You can do it, Toby.
  • Michael Brandon: Called Thomas. That made Toby feel much better. Then he started to shunt the freight cars. He shunted coal cars for Henry, and slate cars for Donald. He even shunted fruit and vegetable cars for Douglas.
  • Toby: Maybe I can do it.
  • Michael Brandon: Toby chuffed. But then, Gordon puffed past. He was pulling the express with lots of coaches. Toby watched as Gordon puffed towards the hill. Gordon puffed with all his might. But once again, the express was too heavy. Gordon was stuck.
  • Gordon: Bother!
  • Michael Brandon: He huffed. Gordon's driver called the yard manager. And the yard manager came to see Toby.
  • Yard Manager: You need to push Gordon to the top of the hill.
  • Michael Brandon: The yard manager said.
  • Toby: Yes, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Groaned Toby.
  • Toby: But Gordon looks much too heavy for me to push.
  • Michael Brandon: Toby puffed nervously.
  • Thomas: Don't worry.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas called.
  • Thomas: You can do it, Toby.
  • Toby: I'll do my best.
  • Michael Brandon: He puffed. And he chuffed off to Gordon's Hill. When Gordon heard that Toby was coming, he was very cross.
  • Gordon: Toby's only a steam tram.
  • Michael Brandon: Gordon huffed.
  • Gordon: He will never be able to push me up the hill.
  • Michael Brandon: Toby buffered up behind Gordon. Then he pushed with all his might. Gordon didn't move.
  • Gordon: Is that the best you can do?
  • Michael Brandon: Gordon snorted.
  • Gordon: They should have sent a proper engine.
  • Michael Brandon: Toby was about the give up. But then he remembered what Thomas had said.
  • Toby: I can do it, I can do it.
  • Michael Brandon: Toby panted. Toby pushed harder and harder. Suddenly, Gordon's wheels started to move. Toby kept pushing. His engine roared, his axles ached. Gordon moved slowly up the hill. When Percy saw Toby pushing, he blew his whistle with excitement.
  • Percy: You can do it, Toby! Go on!
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Percy. Toby huffed and puffed and chuffed, but at last, he pushed Gordon right to the top of the hill. Gordon was impressed. Now his express would run on time. Toby was tired, but he was very proud.
  • Toby: I did it!
  • Michael Brandon: He puffed excitedly. That night, Sir Topham Hatt came to see Toby.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Today you were a very useful engine indeed.
  • Michael Brandon: He said.
  • Toby: Thank you, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Toby chuffed. And even though Toby was a steam tram, he felt like a proper engine after all.
  • (Another puffing by sequence happens and Engine Roll Call starts)
  • Children: (singing) They're two, they're four, they're six, they're eight. Shunting trucks and hauling freight. Red and green and brown and blue. They're the really useful crew. All with different rows to play round Tidmouth Sheds or far away. Down the hills and round the bends, Thomas and his friends. Thomas - he's the cheeky one, James - is vain but lots of fun, Percy - pulls the mail on time, Gordon - thunders down the line, Emily - really knows her stuff, Henry - toots and huffs and puffs, Edward - wants to help and share, Toby - well let's say, he's square. They're two, they're four, they're six, they're eight. Shunting trucks and hauling freight. Red and green and brown and blue. They're the really useful crew. All with different rows to play round Tidmouth Sheds or far away. Down the hills and round the bends, Thomas and his friends. They're two, they're four, they're six, they're eight. Shunting trucks and hauling freight. Red and green and brown and blue. They're the really useful crew. All with different rows to play round Tidmouth Sheds or far away. Down the hills and round the bends, Thomas and his friends.
  • (Following the last song, we find the Season 8-10 end credits with Thomas looking at the credits)
  • (While they roll, the Thomas Season 8-10 end theme plays)
  • (After that, the 2004 HiT Entertainment logo appears)
