Star Wars: Dark Horizons is a free text based multiuser roleplaying game meant to simulate an environment set in George Lucas's Star Wars Galaxy, as expressed in A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The time frame of game play is between 30 and 40 years before the events of A New Hope. The game is run on a MUSH (Multi-User Shared Hallucination) server using a variant of PennMUSH. Users create characters according to the theme of the original trilogy. Established in December 2005.
The hostname address for Star Wars: Dark Horizons is: starwars.isunlimited.net port 2001.
Denizens of Dark Horizons:
Within Dark Horizons there are 24 different planets and an unlimited number of player-created factions for characters to join. Each covers a planet or faction mentioned in the Original Trilogy or inspired by the Star Wars Expanded Universe. For example, a player can play an Human from Corellia, an Mon Cal from Dac, or a Jedi, to name but a few choices. "Feature" Characters (FC) are rewards given for dedicated work for good roleplaying ability and seniority.
While Dark Horizons is focused on role-playing, it also allows for creative effort in designing the world itself, as is typical of a MUSH. Players may build regions, enhance the descriptions of areas, design quests, program commands both locally and globally.
