[edit] Origins
Though when Dating Game became a part of the improv repertoire is unknown, The Dating Game is an ABC television show that first aired in late December of 1965.
[edit] Setup
In the dating game, one person questions the others in an attempt to find which it is they would like best to go on a date with.
[edit] Necessary Equipment
Four chairs or seats or some sort, one independent of the other three.
[edit] Performers
Four performers engage in this game. There is one straight man who's job it is to find the identity of the other three, much like in Party Quirks. The other three have secret identities that they will reveal by dropping subtle hints in response to the straight man's questions.
[edit] Leaving the Room
The straight man leaves the room while the other three are given there identities.
[edit] Audience Suggestions
The host requests identities in the form of "What's your favorite cartoon character?", "What famous literary figure is so-and-so?", or even "So, who's this?"

[edit] Traditions
[edit] The Experts
Renee "Kamikaze" Leyburn is often seen performing the questioner for three good reasons. One, she is proficient at identifying the others. Two, she has infinite prowess as a straight man. Three, she is a woman, and we at the Ship of Fools find it only fair to occasionally include heterosexuality.
In the same vein, females (a Foolish rarity) are often called upon to act as the bachelorette. In lieu of this, 4 males are often used without changing pronouns.
[edit] Memorable Games
Late in the spring of '08, Andy "Quasar" Ober was cast as Andy Ober.
During one game in 2007, an audience participant was cast as Road Runner, who, upon being asked his first question, proceeded to meep, and then run from the room flicking his tongue.
