The Delbians are tusked bipeds from the planet Delb whose appearance combined aspects of arachnids and aquatic mammals. Delbians have a reputation for being nasty, crude and aggressive, and generally pursued off-world careers as mercenaries, bounty hunters and pirates.
The three types of Delbian, the Quran, the Utas (who were the result of genetic mutation), and the Agarth, were distinguished by their hands and eyes. Qurans have finned hands, while the Utas and Agarth have clawed, fingered hands. The fingered Delbians also varied in the number of eyes—while the Agarth, like the Qurans, have two eyes, the less-common Utas have four. While most Utas and Agarth have claw-like hands with five fingers, some Utas have three-fingered hands with very thick digits. Though Utas and Agarth only made up about ten percent of the Delbian population, their fingered hands made them more comfortable with technology. Thus, they were the subspecies more commonly found off-world. Because the Qurans saw the Agarth as responsible for the image the Delbians had on the galaxy as thugs, the latter subspecies were considered pariahs on Delb, which had a lower population of Delbians than the galaxy itself.
