Welcome to Dentopedia - a website for professions complementary to dentistry. It is aimed primarily for Dental Nurses, Therapists, Hygienists, Technicians and clinical support workers (Receptionists and Practice Managers).

Why not for dentists? There are a mulititude of websites out there aimed at dentists with information available on all aspects of the profession. Changes within the profession have introduced auxillary staff at different levels and roles and regulations are ever changing.

Since the end of July 2006, dental nurses have been able to join the General Dental Council (GDC) register - by July 2008, it will be an essential requirement for all dental nurses to be on the GDC register in order to practise in the UK. New roles are being defined and regulations being placed to aid these changes. There is still much confusion with these roles both within the profession and to the general public.
