Plot Summary[]
A secret laboratory near the Arctic Circle is stolen by a mysterious vehicle using a giant magnet. The Anti-Villain League (AVL) recruits former super-viking Hiccup, now a devoted son to Merida, Rapunzel and Tooth, to find out which evil person stole the lab, which contained a powerful mutagen known as PX-41 which can make indestructible and extremely aggressive monsters out of living organisms but Hiccup refuses. Hiccup learns that Jack Frost, his friend and assistant, has decided to leave him for new employment, because he "missed being evil." Hiccup reluctantly partners with undercover AVL agent Astrid Hofferson, and together they search The Paradise Shopping Mall, where they are given a bakery called "Bake My Day" as their headquarters. Hiccup suspects Mexican restaurant owner Lord Shen of being a super-villain called "El Macho", who supposedly died after skysurfing a TNT-laden shark into the center of an active volcano. Hiccup and Astrid break into Lord's Shen restaurant at night, but only find a jar of secret-recipe salsa and nothing to prove that Lord Shen is the culprit. Meanwhile, Tooth expresses her wish of having a mother someday and suspects that Hiccup will fall in love with Astrid. Hiccup tells her that his relationship with Astrid is strictly professional. Hiccup and Astrid investigate wig merchant Kim-Ly, but Hiccup is still suspicious of Lord Shen. After the investigation, Hiccup is set up on a horrible dinner date with a toy dinosaur named Trixie, who notices Hiccup's helmet and threatens to humiliate him. Luckily, Hiccup bumps into them and rescues him from the date by shooting Mabel with a tranquilizer dart. They take Trixie home, and after they say good night, Hiccup realizes that Tooth was right: he has romantic feelings for Astrid. The next day, the AVL arrests Kim-Ly (who claims that he was framed) because an almost-empty mutagen jar was found in his shop. The investigation is closed, and Astrid is reassigned to Australia. Before leaving, Astrid gives Hiccup her lipstick taser to remind him of her. This leaves Hiccup heartbroken because he loves her, but he cannot find the courage to ask her out on a date. Instead he brings the girls to Lord Shen's Cinco de Mayo party and finds proof that the Mexican restauranteur is in fact the super-villain El Macho. Hiccup also discovers that El Macho (and his helper, Jack Frost) have captured and mutated a large number of Hiccup's minions using the PX-41, turning them into insane, savage purple-furred monsters. El Macho plans to send rockets full of mutated Minions to major cities and achieve world domination. El Macho admires Hiccup's old work (such as stealing the moon) and invites Hiccup to join him in this plan, but Hiccup avoids answering and leaves with his daughter Merida, who in the meantime has broken up with Lord Shen's two-timing bro, Zane, who had left Merida for another gal. For breaking Merida's heart, Hiccup uses his freeze-ray to freeze Zane in a block of ice. On her flight to Australia, Astrid realizes she has feelings for Hiccup, jumps out of the plane and hang-glides down to the party. She is captured by El Macho, who knows she is an AVL agent after Pollito, his pet chicken, retrieves her AVL ID badge from her purse. Fortunately Jack Frost lets Hiccup know what is happening. In order to rescue Astrid, Hiccup visits El Macho along with two minions covered in purple cupcake frosting, pretending he was captured by two of the mutant creatures. Fighting alongside his daughters and Jack Frost, Hiccup and his team spray all of the mutated minions with awful-tasting jelly containing a powerful antidote that Jack Frost made, whereupon they revert to their friendly yellow state. El Macho then takes the mutagen himself, but Hiccup and Jack Frost easily overcome him using a fart gun and Astrid's lipstick-taser. Astrid is, however, already strapped to a TNT-loaded shark rocket. Hiccup starts to untie her, but the rocket-launch remote button is pressed by Lord Shen's pet Sulpher Crest Cockatoo Nigel. The rocket flies towards the same lava-spewing volcano where Lord Shen had previously faked his death. Astrid accepts Hiccup's invitation for a date, and the pair dives into the safety of the ocean seconds before the rocket enters the volcano. One hundred and forty-seven dates later, Hiccup and Astrid are married and Hiccup's sisters finally have a mother. After Hiccup and Astrid got married, Hiccup and Astrid have thier daughters, Merida, Rapunzel and Tooth. Tooth have her new family. They belong to Hiccup and Astrid. Astrid is Hiccup's wife and Merida, Rapunzel and Tooth are Hiccup's daughters. Hiccup, Astrid, Merida, Rapunzel and Tooth are a family. The minions close with a rendition of "My First My Last My Everything" and "Part of your World" (sung in minionese as "Underwear") while the whole family dances. Then, a purple furry minion shows up, surprising the family.
