Narrator: One morning, RS Mr. Condutor was walking up the main path to Killdane station with Patty and Selma. Adam West had asked him to work with a new skunk on the Peel Godred route.

RS Mr. Conductor: Good morning, sir.

Mayor Adam West: Good morning, RS Conductor. This is Pepe Le Pew. He's an French skunk who has come to work on this pah.

Pepe Le Pew: Bonjour!

RS Mr. Conductor: He's the contender that won the race at the great world show, isn't he?

Mayor Adam West: That's right, Mr. Conductor. But his village in France closed, so I bought him to help run the Peel Godred route. I would like you to work with Pepe for a few days, just until he gets used to the work on this route.

RS Mr. Conductor: Yes, sir. I'd be happy to, sir.

Mayor Adam West: Great! Work well together.

Narrator: Mr. Conductor was looking forward to working with Pepe. This meant a chance for him to make a new friend.

RS Mr. Conductor: You'll like working here, Pepe. TVland is a very nice country.

Pepe Le Pew: Je suis désolé, mais je ne comprends pas ce que vous dites. (I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you're saying, in French)

RS Mr. Conductor: Huh?

Patty: Come on, Thomas.

Selma: You'll have plenty of time to talk to Pepe later. But right now, we're due to take a passenger run along the route.

RS Mr. Conductor: Okay. Goodbye, Pepe.

Pepe Le Pew: Au revoir. (Goodbye, in French)

Narrator: Mr. Conductor was surprised by what Pepe had said to him. He didn't quite understand what the French skunk was saying. And everytime RS Conductor tried to speak to Pepe,

RS Mr. Condutor: It's a beautiful day, isn't it?

Pepe Le Pew: Quelle était cette? (What was that? in French)

RS Mr. Conductor: How's your morning been so far?

Pepe Le Pew: Hein? (Huh? in French)

RS Mr. Conductor: How are you enjoying this branch line?

Pepe Le Pew: Je ne peux pas comprendre ce que vous dites. (I can't understand what your saying, in French)

Narrator: Pepe Le Pew didn't understand what RS Conductor was saying. And RS Conductor didn't understand the language Pepe was speaking in.

RS Mr. Conductor: Patty, Selma, do you know that language Pepe is speaking in?

Patty: I can't say that I do, I'm afraid.

Selma: Neither can I. The only languages we know well is English.

RS Mr. Conductor: Thanks, anyway.

Theodore: Hello, RS Conductor. What's wrong?

RS Mr. Conductor: What? Oh, hi, Theodore. Hello, Foduck.

Foduck: Are you having a bad day, Mr. Conductor?

RS Mr. Conductor: No, but there's a new skunk in our land named Pepe Le Pew, and I don't understand what he's saying because he doesn't speak English.

Theodore: I met him earlier. I think I know what language he's speaking in.

RS Mr. Conductor: What is it?

Theodore: He's speaking in French. He is from France, isn't he?

RS Mr. Conductor: Yes.

Foduck: Then that's the language he's speaking in. I wish we could help you, but we've got a mountain railway to run.

RS Mr. Conductor: That's okay. I'll learn French eventually.

(Guard blows his whistle)

RS Mr. Conductor: Goodbye!

Narrator: Later, Thomas was resting in a shed after completing his run.

RS Mr. Conductor: Driver, do you know much French?

RS Mr. Conductor's Driver: You mean that language Pepe Le Pew is speaking in?

RS Mr. Conductor: Yes.

RS Mr. Conductor's Driver: Only a little bit, but not a whole lot I'm afraid.

RS Mr. Conductor: Bother! I wish I knew French so I could get speak to Pepe.

Narrator: Then, Mr. Conductor remembered a friend of his that knew French, and it gave him an idea.

RS Mr. Conductor: Driver, do we have time to go to Ulfstead Castle?

RS Mr. Conductor's Driver: Why, Thomas?

RS Mr. Conductor: Because I know someone that might be able to help me learn French.

RS Mr. Conductor's Driver: Well, we're not due to take another train for a while. I think we have time to go up to the castle.

RS Mr. Conductor: Thank you.

Narrator: So RS Mr. Conductor hurried up to Ulfstead Castle.

RS Mr. Conductor: Hello, Merlin.

Merlin: Hello, RS Conductor. What brings you up here?

RS Mr. Conductor: I was wondering if I could take Tanya away from the castle for a while. I need her help with something.

Tanya: What for, Mr. Conductor?

RS Mr. Conductor: Tanya, you speak French, don't you?

Tanya: Oui, je ne. That means 'Yes, I do' in French. But why do you ask?

RS Mr. Conductor: Because I just met a new skunk named Pepe Le Pew, who doesn't speak English. I was wondering if you could help me translate what he says in English for me, please.

Tanya: I'd like to help, Mr. Conductor. That is, if the wizard agrees.

Merlin: I suppose I could spare Tanya for a while, but don't take too long, please.

RS Mr. Conductor: Yes, sir.

Narrator: So RS Mr. Conductor took Tanya away from Ulfstead Castle, and to Killdane Station, where Pepe was finishing a passenger run.

Pepe Le Pew: Bonjour!

Tanya: Bonjour! Mon nom est Tanya!

Pepe Le Pew: Enchanté de vous rencontrer, Tanya.

Tanya: I just told him hello, and that my name is Tanya. And he just said 'Nice to meet you'.

RS Mr. Conductor: Oh!

Pepe Le Pew: Qu'est-ce qui vous amène ici, Tanya?

Tanya: J'aide mon ami, RS Conductor apprendre le français. He just asked what brings me over here, and I told him that I am helping you learn French.

RS Mr. Condutor: I see. So Bonjour means Hello in French, right?

Pepe and Tanya: Oui!

Tanya: That means yes in French, remember?

RS Mr. Conductor: I remember. How do I introduce myself in French.

Tanya: Just say 'Mon nom est RS Monsieur Conducteur le réservoir du moteur'. Mon nom est means 'My name is' and RS Monsieur Conducteur means 'RS Mr. Conductor'.

RS Mr. Conductor: Mon nom est Thomas le réservoir du moteur.

Pepe Le Pew: Enchanté de vous rencontrer, Monsieur Conducteur, or in... English, nice to... meet you..., Thomas.

RS: Mr. Conductor: That's it, Pepe! You just spoke English!

Pepe Le Pew: Merci! I believe in English it's 'Thank you'. Right?

RS Mr. Conductor: Right!

Tanya: Droit!

RS Mr. Conductor: Let me guess, that French for 'Right'.

Tanya: Oui!

Pepe Le Pew: I'm Désolé, or sorry, for not speaking right to you before, Mr. Conductor. It's just that I never knew much English. But I'm glad I got to apprendre, or, in English, learn some of it.

RS Mr. Conductor: And I'm glad I got to learn some of French. Thank you, Tanya. I mean, merci, Tanya!

Tanya: Vous êtes les bienvenus, RS Conductor! That means 'You're welcome, RS Conductor'. Anyway, I really should get back to Ulfstead Castle now.

RS Mr. Conductor: Okay.

Tanya: Au revoir, Pepe.

Pepe Le Pew: Au revoir, Tanya. Au revoir, RS Conductor.

RS Mr. Conductor: That's goodbye in French, isn't it?

Tanya: Oui, Mr. Conductor.

Narrator: So Mr. Conductor took Tanya back to Ulfstead Castle. On the way back, Tanya taught Mr. Conductor more words and phrases in French. And Mr. Conductor was able to teach Pepe more words and phrases in English.

Pepe Le Pew: Thanks again, RS Conductor. You're a bon ami, or, in English, a good friend.

RS Mr. Conductor: You're welcome, Pepe. You're a good friend too, and so is Tanya.

Narrator: Mr. Conductor and Pepe worked well together. And a few days later, Mr. Conductor returned to his own branch line, leaving the Peel Godred route in Pepe's hands.

RS Mr. Conductor: Au reviou, Pepee.

Pepe: Goodbye, RS Conductor.

Narrator: Pepe Le Pew really likes his new job in TVland. And he's happy to have learned a new language, and so is Mr. Conductor.
