Ringo Starr: Pongo is dalmatian who lives in a little house in Disneyland. He's a cheeky dalmatian with four long legs, two little ears, a little black nose and black spots. He's a fussy dalmatian too. Always moving puppies about ready for the big disney characters to take on long journeys. And when they come in, He takes the puppies away so that the big characters can go and rest. Pongo thinks no one works as hard as he does. He loves playing tricks on them. Including Sir Ector, the biggest and proudest character of all. Pongo likes to tease Sir Ector.
Pongo: Wake up, lazybones! Why don't you work hard like me.
Ringo Starr: One day, after working with the puppies, Sir Ector arrived back at home very tired. He was just going to sleep when Pongo came up in his cheeky way.
Pongo: Wake up, lazybones! Do some hard work for change! You can't catch me!
Ringo Starr: And off he ran laughing. Instead of going to sleep again, Sir Ector thought how he could get back at Pongo. One morning, Pongo wouldn't wake. His animator couldn't make him start. His stamina was low and there was not enough strength. It was nearly time the express. People were waiting, but the puppies weren't ready. At last, Pongo started.
Pongo: Oh dear! Oh dear!
Ringo Starr: He yawned. He fussed into the station where Sir Ector was waiting.
Sir Ector: Hurry up you!
Ringo Starr: Said Sir Ector.
Pongo: Hurry yourself!
Ringo Starr: Replied Pongo. Sir Ector, the proud man, began making his plan to teach Pongo a lesson for teasing him. Almost before the puppies had stopped moving, Sir Ector reverse quickly was ready.
Sir Ector: Get in quickly please.
Ringo Starr: He said. Pongo usually pushed behind to help start. But he was always unhooked first. This time, Sir Ector started so quickly that they forgot to unhook Pongo. Sir Ector's chance had come.
Sir Ector: Come on, come on.
Ringo Starr: Said Sir Ector to the puppies. They went faster and faster. Too fast for Pongo. He wanted to stop, but he couldn't.
Pongo: Stop! Stop!
Sir Ector: Hurry, hurry, hurry!
Ringo Starr: Laughed Sir Ector.
Puppies: You can't get away! You can't get away!
Ringo Starr: Laughed the puppies. Poor Pongo was going faster than he had ever gone before. He was out of breath and his legs hurt him, but he had to go on.
Pongo: I shall never be the same again.
Ringo Starr: He thought sadly.
Pongo: My legs shall be quite worn out.
Ringo Starr: At last, they stopped at a station. Pongo was unhooked. And he felt very silly and exhausted. Next, he went onto a turntable thinking of everyone laughing at him. And then he went out of the way.
Sir Ector: Well, little Pongo.
Ringo Starr: Chuckled Sir Ector.
Sir Ector: Now you know what hard work means. Don't you?
Ringo Starr: Poor Pongo couldn't answer. He had no breath. He just walked slowly away to rest and had long, long drink.
Pongo: Maybe I don't have to tease Sir Ector to feel important.
Ringo Starr: Pongo thought to himself. And he walked slowly home.
