Narrator: "The dwarfs were busy clearing their paths of leaves and broken branches.
Happy and Sleepy often worked together. One day, Sleepy helped Happy to a water fountain.
Happy felt much better after his long drink, but the monkeys were bored.
Monkeys: "Let's break away!"
Narrator: "Their loads were heavy, and the chains old. One snapped!"
Monkeys: "Faster! Faster!"
Narrator: "Shouted the monkeys. A sign read 'Slow steep bends and ravine ahead', but the silly monkeys never saw it.
Then, it was too late.
Happy arrived at the scene of the disaster. His driver sighed."
Happy's Driver: "This was our fault; we didn't secure them properly. We'll have to get help to pull them up.
Mickey Mouse will be very annoyed."
Narrator: "And he was."
Mickey Mouse: "You will work in the yards until I can trust you again."
Narrator: "Dopey was delighted with Happy's dilemma."
Dopey: "Fancy not securing your monkeys on a hill. They'll come back to spook you and your special hat. Whoo!"
Sleepy: "And who's to say you're not afraid of ghosts?"
Narrator: "Snapped Sleepy."
Dopey: "Ghosts? Things that go bump in the night? Rubbish!"
Sleepy: "Well, I'll tell you a story that will make your hat quiver!"
Narrator: "Sleepy said."
Sleepy: "A long time ago, a dwarf was returning home. It was a misty moonlit night. Suddenly, the dwarf lost control and plunged over the side into the swamps below.
He was never found again, but many a workmen will tell you that when the moon is full, they have seen the dwarf trying to get home, but he never reaches the other side.
So what do you think of that, Dopey?"
Narrator: "Replied Dopey."
Sleepy: "Never mind him, Happy. He'd be frightened if he really saw a ghost."
Narrator: "This gave Happy's driver an idea."
Happy's Driver: "Let's play a trick on Dopey!"
Narrator: "The next day, he spoke to Dopey's driver and fireman, who agreed.
Dopey's Crew: "We'll do it tonight!"
Narrator: "Dopey had to bring monkeys to the slate mines, and then bring monkeys back.
Dopey's driver decided, as part of the plan, to cross the old iron bridge."
Dopey: "Haunted bridge, rubbish"!
Narrator: "Snorted Dopey."
Dopey: "It's as tame as a pet rabbit!"
Narrator: "But all the same, he kept thinking about Sleepy's story.
When dusk fell, he was keen to leave."
Dopey: "If we don't go now, Bashful will take my favorite place in the room."
Dopey's Driver: "We have to collect our monkeys first."
Narrator: "His driver replied.
He could see his plan was working, because Dopey was nervous.
When night fell, they set off.
The mists were rising around the old iron bridge.
Dopey whistled, and the sound echoed everywhere.
Then, ahead, he saw flickering lights. His driver knew they were only insects that shine brightly at night, but to Dopey, they looked like a dwarf!
Next, his driver secretly threw a rock into the ravine below."
Dopey: "It's the ghost! Take me back! Take me back, please!"
Narrator: "When Dopey reached the safety of his room, he closed his eyes tightly."
Dopey's Driver: "Spooked, are you, Dopey?"
Narrator: "Laughed his driver."
Dopey: "No, I'm asleep!"
Narrator: "And Dopey refused to open his eyes.
He did though, when he thought his driver wasn't looking, just to make sure that he was still there."
