Dorothy Smith is a British-Canadian feminist sociologist. She continues to work at OISE. She is best know for such theories and/or methodologies referred to as: institutional ethnography, relations of ruling, textually mediated/analysis and the notion of objectivity vs subjectivity (perceived vs the actual)
