Our political world can be confusing at times. In an attempt to find a faster and more efficient way of voting we have turned to electronic voting. In 2002 the HAVA act came along. The Help Americans to Vote Act madates electronic voting machines to be used. States vary in terms of machines used. For example, Pennsylvania can not use a machine that leaves a paper trail while others states may. On the contrary of this being extremely successful it has indeed caused many issues negatively affecting the voting process.
Elected officials are in a position of the wrong person being elected due to the inaccuracies found by our group. For example, in Florida there was eighteen thousand votes lost. This particular incident occured in November 2006. This is just one recent event. Not to say that mistakes have not been made with paper ballots but there seems to be a big difference in the reliability. (?)
