World War II
Earl was a sailor aboard USS Houston (CA-30), which was sunk in the Sunda Strait on March 1, 1942. He swam to shore, was captured by the Japanese and was a POW for 3 years working on the Burma Railway or Death Railway.
Earl and Marine had one daughter, Sharon Humphrey. Sharon married James Bradley Hannah and they had two sons, Jay and Brad.
Earl passed away in 2000. His wife Marine passed away in 2006.
