Script

Act 1

  • (We open this episode with the episode with the Thomas and Friends Season 6 intro)
  • (After that, we begin the character introduction)
  • Alec Baldwin: Thomas is a really useful engine. Here's Percy. He is a very happy engine. James is a magnificent engine. Gordon is the most fastest engine on the Island of Sodor. Henry is long and fast. Here's Edward always here to help.
  • (A passing by sequence occurs and we begin Edward The Very Useful Engine)
  • Alec Baldwin: The engines on the Island of Sodor are good at different things. Gordon is a very good express, Percy is good at carrying the mail and when Edward is not hauling freight cars, he is very good at being a back engine. When engines have heavy loads, Edward buffers up behind and helps push. But Edward is old. Some engines think this makes him unreliable.
  • Gordon: Edward is a useless old steam-pot.
  • Alec Baldwin: Gordon sniffed.
  • Gordon: He should be retired.
  • Percy: But he doesn't have tires.
  • Alec Baldwin: Percy said.
  • Thomas: Retired.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Thomas.
  • Thomas: Means taken out of service.
  • Gordon: And not a moment too soon.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Gordon. And the other big engines agreed with him, but Percy was very upset. Later, his driver asked him why he looked so glum. Percy told him about Edward.
  • Percy: The big engines don't think he's useful anymore.
  • Alec Baldwin: He said. Percy's driver saw Sir Topham Hatt and told him what Percy had said.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: I will attend to the matter immediately.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Sir Topham Hatt. Sir Topham Hatt had a plan.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: The new loop line is completed.
  • Alec Baldwin: He said to Edward.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: I want you to teach Stepney how to run it properly.
  • Edward: But sir.
  • Alec Baldwin: He asked.
  • Edward: Who will look after the freight cars?
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Duck will do your work.
  • Alec Baldwin: Sir Topham Hatt replied. When the other engines heard Duck was going to help them, they were pleased.
  • Henry: Duck is very reliable.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Henry.
  • Gordon: It makes no difference to me.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Gordon pompously.
  • Gordon: I don't need a back engine.
  • Alec Baldwin: And he wheeshed away. Edward enjoyed working with Stepney. It was great fun delivering passengers to stations in the beautiful countryside. But Duck was not happy. The trucks were playing their silly games.
  • Troublesome Trucks: (singing) Duck should play with other ducks cause he's no good at pulling trucks. Quack, quack, quack, quack. Hold back, hold back.
  • Alec Baldwin: They giggled. Duck found himself going slower, and slower, and slower. Halfway up Gordon's Hill, his wheels stopped all together. Duck was stuck.
  • Duck's Driver: Oh, no.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said his driver.
  • Duck's Driver: This is Gordon's line.
  • Alec Baldwin: Duck's guard phoned the signalman to warn him.
  • Signalman: It's too late to switch Gordon to the middle line.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said the signalman.
  • Signalman: You'll have to flag him down.
  • Alec Baldwin: Gordon saw the guard.
  • Gordon: If I stop on this hill, I'll never get started again.
  • Alec Baldwin: He said crossly and he buffered up to Duck. Gordon tried to set off again, but his wheels spun and spun.
  • Gordon's Driver: It's no use. We need a back engine.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said the driver.
  • Gordon's Driver: I'll send for Edward.
  • Alec Baldwin: Gordon was cross. Edward was excited. He was going to be a back engine for two trains. Edward cheerfully buffered up and the strange train set off.
  • (Edward pushes Gordon and Duck to Knapford)
  • Alec Baldwin: They chuffed gently into the station.
  • (Gordon stops on the platform)
  • Boy: Look at that!
  • Alec Baldwin: Laughed a boy.
  • Boy: The back engine must be the strongest and the best.
  • Alec Baldwin: Gordon was embarrassed. Sir Topham Hatt spoke severly to Gordon.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: You have set rude things about Edward. He proved today that he is useful reliable and very helpful.
  • Alec Baldwin: Gordon felt very ashamed. The next morning, Gordon apologized.
  • Gordon: Thank you for helping me Edward.
  • Alec Baldwin: Puffed Gordon.
  • Gordon: You really are a useful engine.
  • Edward: It's good to be back.
  • Alec Baldwin: Edward chuffed happily. Sir Topham Hatt's plan had worked. There was no more talk about Edward retiring.
  • (Another passing by sequence occurs and we begin Never Never Never Give Up)
  • Children: (singing) If you climb the highest mountain, Cross the river deep, Maybe you'll find it's never as easy As it first appears.
  • Men: (singing) As it first appears.
  • Children: (singing) Just remember not to worry, Or get down at heart Never lose faith in positive thinking You'll be amazed when you achieve All the things you start.
  • Men: (singing) All the things you start.
  • Children: (singing) So, Never, never, never give up even though the going's tough Don't stop trying, when you're tiring, and you're out of puff No, never, never, never give up even though you're feeling rough If at first you don't succeed, never, never, never give up Some things seem impossible, answers hard to find No matter how improbable, you won't know until you try You can do whatever you choose it just takes a little luck So remember never, never, never give up Never, never, never give up even though the going's tough Don't stop trying, when you're tiring, and you're out of puff No, never, never, never give up even though you're feeling rough If at first you don't succeed, never, never, never give up So, Never, never, never give up even though the going's tough Don't stop trying, when you're tiring, and you're out of puff No, never, never, never give up even though you're feeling rough If at first you don't succeed, never, never, never give up! Never, never, never give up, Never, never, never give up!

Act 2

  • (We open Act 2 with Rusty Saves The Day)
  • Alec Baldwin: Rusty is a little diesel engine who works at the quarry on the Island of Sodor. Rusty's best friends are Rheneas and Skarloey. Rusty helps keep their line clear. Sometimes, Rusty worked so hard clearing their line that the little diesel forgets there's also work to be done at the quarry. One day, Rusty returned late to the quarry. Sir Topham Hatt was cross.
  • Rusty's Driver: Sorry, sir.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rusty's driver said.
  • Rusty's Driver: We were helping Rheneas and Skarloey.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: I know you like helping Rheneas and Skarloey. But their line is in bad condition. It takes too much of your time.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: I am going to shut it down.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rusty was upset.
  • Rusty: But what will Rheneas and Skarloey do?
  • Alec Baldwin: Rusty asked.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: They will come and work with you here at the quarry.
  • Alec Baldwin: He had made up his mind. There was nothing Rusty could do. Their line was closed down. Rheneas and Skarloey came to work at the quarry. They worked as hard as they could but they missed the forests and hills. Most of all they missed their passengers. Rusty could see they were not happy. Sir Topham Hatt came to the quarry with important news.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: We are going to be blasting for the next two weeks.
  • Alec Baldwin: He said.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: It wont be safe for you here. I'll have to find you other work.
  • Rusty: Please sir.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rusty said.
  • Rusty: May we use the next two weeks to repair Rheneas and Skarloey's line? Then they can go back to their old jobs.
  • Rusty's Driver: There are plenty of line workers available.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rusty's driver added. Sir Topham Hatt agreed.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: But you have only two weeks to complete the job.
  • Alec Baldwin: He said sternly. Rheneas and Skarloey's line was covered in rocks and branches. The tracks were broken in several places. Elizabeth the Quarry Truck thought cleaning up the line was ridiculous.
  • Elizabeth: What a waste of time.
  • Alec Baldwin: She sniffed. Skarloey was upset.
  • Skarloey: She's right.
  • Alec Baldwin: He said.
  • Skarloey: We'll never get it done in two weeks.
  • Rusty: We can't give up.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Rusty. The engines worked harder than ever, but time was running out. The next day, Rusty had a clever idea.
  • Rusty: If only we had a truck to help us.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rusty sighed. Elizabeth stopped
  • Elizabeth: But I couldn't possibly help you. I'm a quarry truck.
  • Rusty: Well we do need a special kind of truck.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rusty teased.
  • Elizabeth: I am a special kind of truck.
  • Alec Baldwin: Protested Elizabeth.
  • Rusty: It requires hauling
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Rusty.
  • Elizabeth: I can haul.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Elizabeth.
  • Rusty: And pulling heavy branches.
  • Alec Baldwin: Added Rusty.
  • Elizabeth: Well of course I can pull.
  • Rusty: So you'll do it.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Rusty.
  • Elizabeth: Well of course.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Elizabeth proudly. Elizabeth was as good as her work. She hauled rubbish and pulled branches from the line. She helped remove a fallen stickable tree from the cattle creep.
  • Rusty: Thank you, Elizabeth.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Rusty.
  • Rusty: We could've done without you.
  • Elizabeth: I know.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Elizabeth proudly. Sir Topham Hatt inspected the line. He was very impressed.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Well done Rusty.
  • Alec Baldwin: He said.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: And well done Elizabeth. We will open this line immediately.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rusty was proud. Rheneas and Skarloey were very happy.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Maybe now Rusty will had time to work at the quarry.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Sir Topham Hatt and Rusty just smiled.
  • (Another passing by sequence occurs and we begin Sir Topham Hatt)
  • (Gordon's whistle toots)
  • Children (singing): His name is Sir Topham Hatt. Some people say he's - Stout!! Rather rotund, really quite round. But he doesn't see it like that.
  • Girl: He's considered he's a gentleman of merit.
  • Boy: With a railway exquisitely fine.
  • Children: (singing) But his main aim is to see that his trains run right on time. Sir Top, Sir Topham Hatt. He's the head of the railway. There is no doubt about that controller of the line. It's as plain as plain can be for everyone to see that it's the fat controller's railway. He's so proud of his engines each and everyone. And though he's strict and meticulous, favorites he has none. If ever there is trouble, you know who will be there.
  • Girl: If there's ever a crash a smash or a muddle, he's there on the double, no trouble.
  • Children: (singing) Cause it's the fat controller's railway. Sir Top, Sir Topham Hatt. He's the head of the railway. There is no doubt about that controller of the line. It's plain as plain can be for everyone to see that it's the fat controller's railway. The fat controller's railway. Sir Top-ham Hatt.
  • (We follow the commercials after Act 2)

Act 3

  • (The final act opens with Faulty Whistles)
  • Alec Baldwin: It was early morning on the Island of Sodor. Duncan was waiting for Peter Sam who was bringing some freight cars for him to take to strawberry grove. Duncan was also to take the headmaster and the new organ. While they waited, the headmaster played a lively tune. Peter Sam had steamed all through the night to bring Duncan his wagons. But as he approached the junction, a low hanging branch knocked his whistle off. This meant he couldn't work until he got a new one.
  • Peter Sam: I can't run on the tracks without my whistle.
  • Alec Baldwin: Chuffed Peter Sam.
  • Peter Sam: That would be dangerous.
  • Duncan: An engine's not an engine without a whistle.
  • Alec Baldwin: Boasted Duncan and just to prove it, he let off a big blast. But the rest of the engines just ignored him. Duncan chuffed away in a big huff. He was cross.
  • Duncan: They're jealous of my fine whistle.
  • Alec Baldwin: Duncan puffed as he steamed through the countryside. He whistled at some sheep. But they were too busy eating grass to take notice.
  • Duncan: Bah!
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Duncan.
  • Duncan: I need to whistle louder and longer next time.
  • Alec Baldwin: Soon, Duncan approached the level crossing where Elizabeth the Quarry Truck waited with a farmer's prized bull. This time, Duncan as loud and as long as he could.
  • Bull: (roars)
  • Alec Baldwin: Said the bull.
  • Elizabeth: Stop that nonsense, Duncan.
  • Alec Baldwin: Elizabeth called. Duncan carried on cheerfully down the track. But he hadn't noticed his whistle had come loose. Then, Duncan saw Terence plowing a field.
  • Duncan: He'll get the loudest and longest whistle yet.
  • Alec Baldwin: He chortled to himself. And he blew so hard, his whistle shot off like a mighty rocket and landed out of sight. Everyone searched for Duncan's whistle but it was nowhere to be seen.
  • Duncan's Driver: We're stuck.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said his driver.
  • Duncan's Driver: We can't move without a whistle. It would be too dangerous.
  • Headmaster: Leave it to me.
  • Alec Baldwin: The headmaster said. For the rest of the day, Duncan didn't make a sound. But the headmaster's organ did.
  • (Organ toots)
  • Alec Baldwin: As Duncan delivered his freight cars, the headmaster tooted the organ at every crossing and every stop. It alerted everyone just as a whistle would.
  • (Organ toots again)
  • Alec Baldwin: Although Duncan didn't think so.
  • (Organ toots one more)
  • Alec Baldwin: Finally Duncan finished delivering the last of his freight cars.
  • (Organ gets one final toot)
  • (She'll Be Coming Round The Mountain playing on organ)
  • Alec Baldwin: Duncan steamed quietly back to the junction as the headmaster played the organ.
  • Rusty: Look.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rusty teased.
  • Rusty: It's Duncan the musical engine.
  • Rheneas: Let's whistle along.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Rheneas.
  • Skarloey: (whistles)
  • Alec Baldwin: Whistled Skarloey. But Peter Sam who had a shiny new whistle felt sorry for Duncan.
  • Peter Sam: You really did well to deliver your goods without a whistle.
  • Alec Baldwin: He said.
  • Duncan: Did you think so?
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Duncan cheering up a bit.
  • Peter Sam: Absolutely.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Peter Sam.
  • Peter Sam: Even though an engine's not an engine without a whistle.
  • Headmaster: Or an organ.
  • Alec Baldwin: Chuckled the headmaster and he tooted the organ. And all the engines tooted back except Duncan, who just grinned.
  • (Another passing by sequence occurs and we begin Little Engines)
  • Children: (singing) Main Line Engines always boast how big they are, Superior by far. But Little Engines toil away from dawn to dusk, Without a fuss or care. Just because we're small doesn't mean we don't stand tall, And we pull our weight like all the others do. You'll be surprised, in spite of their size, Just what little engines can do! Little Engines, Little Engines, Little Engines can do the biggest things. Little Engines, Little Engines, Little Engines can do most anything. They'll carry on until the work is over, They'll carry on 'til the end, They're the smallest in the station, don't underestimate them, they're not such little engines after all. Bigger Engines say little engines play all day, And they're not much use to anyone at all. But we're strong enough to deal with those trucks, That's what little engines are for! They're our favourite little engines, They're mighty little engines! They're not such little engines after all! They're not such little engines after all!
  • (Following the last song, we find the end credits with Thomas looking at us)
  • (While they roll, the Thomas end theme plays)
  • (After that, the 2003 HiT Entertainment logo appears)
