Material on FreeMath

The book ELEMENTS OF ABSTRACT AND LINEAR ALGEBRA is available free on the internet. The book is quite condensed and the first 106 pages cover the abstract algebra material required for a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics. The chapters on Groups, Rings, and Matrices can stand alone as a semester in abstract algebra, but they are structured as a base for the chapter on Linear Algebra. Indeed, after those three chapters, the chapter on Linear Algebra flows easily.

It is not the purpose of this book to teach the course for the professor, but to organize the material linearly so that each section uses the preceding sections and is used in the following sections, and to thus allow the professor to fill in this skeleton as desired.

Since the book is short and free, it can also be used by students as a supplement to conventional fat and poorly organized textbooks.
