Elves (BG)
From Scratchpad
In the game itself, Elves look very much the same as humans. They're not that different though they make better archers and thieves.

[edit] Official description
Elves tend to be shorter and slimmer than normal humans. Their features are finely chiselled and delicate, and they speak in melodic tones. Elves are looked upon as being frivolous and aloof. Elves have a natural resistance to charm and sleep magics. They can see in the dark with infravision and they are very skilled in the use of the bow and long sword. They have a bonus to their Dexterity, but incur a penalty to their Constitution.

[edit] Notes
- The 90% resistance to Sleep and Charm spells was not originally implemented in Baldur's Gate II. The BG2 Fixpack fixes this, see that page for more information.
- The difference between 18 and 19 Dexterity is minimal for most classes, as it only gives +1 THAC0 with missile weapons. However, 19 Dexterity gives +5 to all thieving abilities compared to 18 Dexterity.
- Similarly, Constitution only really matters for Fighters, as they are the only class that benefits from having Constitution higher than 16.
