  • (Then we see the Thomas and Friends Season 7 intro)
  • (After that, we begin with the book containing Thomas in it. Opening by itself, the Rev W. Awdry reads it)
  • Rev W. Awdry: Dear Christopher. Here is your friend Thomas the Tank Engine. He wanted to come out of the station yard and see the world. These stories tell you how he did it. I hope you will like them because you helped me to make them. Your loving daddy.
  • (A passing by sequence occurs and we begin Emily's New Coaches)
  • Michael Brandon: It was a splendid day on the Island of Sodor. Thomas was taking Annie and Clarabel back to the yards. A new engine had arrived and he wanted to say hello. The engine was beautiful with shiny paintwork and a gleaming brass dome.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Thomas, meet Emily.
  • Thomas: Hello, Emily.
  • Emily: Hello, Thomas.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Emily, collect your coaches. You and your driver must learn the line.
  • Emily: Yes, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: She answered. Thomas was impressed. Later, the only coaches Emily's driver could find were Annie and Clarabel.
  • Emily's Driver: These aren't your sort of coaches.
  • Michael Brandon: He said.
  • Emily's Driver: But I suppose they'll do.
  • Michael Brandon: Annie and Clarabel felt insulted.
  • Clarabel: How dare he say we'll do?
  • Michael Brandon: Clarabel whispered. Emily puffed carefully along the track.
  • Annie and Clarabel: How dare he say we'll do, how dare he say we'll do?
  • Michael Brandon: Grumbled the coaches. Thomas saw Emily coming down the line, pulling Annie and Clarabel.
  • Emily: Hello, Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: Emily called. But Thomas was cross.
  • Thomas: Those are my coaches. Give them back!
  • Michael Brandon: But Emily didn't hear Thomas and she went on her way. Then, Edward passed and Percy. When Emily whistled hello, the engines didn't whistle back. Emily couldn't understand why they were so unfriendly. She was upset. Later, Sir Topham Hatt spoke to Thomas.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: I want you to go to the docks to pick up new coaches.
  • Thomas: New coaches? But sir.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Really useful engines don't argue.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Sir Topham Hatt. Thomas didn't want new coaches, he wanted Annie and Clarabel back. When Oliver saw Emily return to the yards, he was surprised.
  • Oliver: Those are Thomas' coaches.
  • Emily: So that's why he looked cross.
  • Michael Brandon: Exclaimed Emily.
  • Emily: I'll go and apologize.
  • Thomas: Don't want new coaches, don't want new coaches.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Thomas. Later, Emily was still looking for Thomas when a signalman flagged her down.
  • Signalman: Oliver hasn't cleared his signalbox.
  • Michael Brandon: He told Emily's driver.
  • Signalman: Please, go and see what's wrong.
  • Michael Brandon: Emily could see that Oliver had broken down on the crossing. Then, Emily heard Thomas' whistle.
  • (Thomas' whistle tooting)
  • Emily: Oh dear!
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas could see Oliver. He knew he could never stop in time.
  • Oliver: Help!
  • Michael Brandon: Emily charged towards Oliver and with a huge effort, pushed him across the tracks, just in time.
  • Oliver: Thanks.
  • Emily: I did it.
  • Michael Brandon: Later, Sir Topham Hatt praised Emily.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Well done, you were a very brave engine.
  • Oliver: The bravest.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Oliver.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: It gives me great pleasure to present you with two new coaches.
  • Emily: Thank you, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Replied Emily.
  • Emily: Thomas, I'm sorry I took Annie and Clarabel.
  • Thomas: And I'm sorry I was so cross.
  • Michael Brandon: Replied Thomas.
  • Emily: Friends?
  • Thomas: Friends.
  • Michael Brandon: Emily loves her coaches and being part of Sir Topham Hatt's railway.
  • (Another passing by sequence occurs and we begin Five New Engines In The Shed)
  • Children (singing): Good morning sunshine, brand new day. Busy day for the railway. Engines rolling to and fro-ing. Rushing by on the railway. But today is a special day for. Have you heard the news? Something special is happening, happening. Have you heard the news? Have you heard, pass the word, have you heard. There are five new engines in the shed. Five new friends in the shed. One, two, three, four, five. Can you believe your eyes? Five new engines in the shed. Celebrate the big surprise and raise the banners high. For the five new engines, great new engines. Five new engines in the shed. Emily with her coaches green is a joy to be seen on the railway. Harvey with his crane looks strange, but he'll take the strain on the railway. Salty is the dockside diesel, he'll tell a tale or two. Arthur too, is shy but true, he'll be there for you.
  • Boy: Look, there's Murdoch.
  • Girl: He's so big and strong.
  • Boy: He'll just go on and on.
  • Children: (singing) There are five new engines in the shed. Five new friends in the shed. Welcome to one and all. Everybody say hello. Five new engines in the shed. Thomas and all his friends are here. So let us wave and cheer. For the five new engines, great new engines. Five new engines in the shed. Five new engines in the shed. Five new friends in the shed. One, two, three, four, five. Can you believe your eyes? Five new engines in the shed. Celebrate the big surprise and raise the banners high.
  • Boy: There's Murdoch.
  • Girl: And Arthur.
  • Boy: And Emily.
  • Girl: And Harvey and Salty.
  • Children: (singing) For the five new engines, great new engines. Five new engines in the shed.
  • (Another passing by sequence occurs and we begin The Old Bridge)
  • Michael Brandon: Rheneas and Skarloey work on the most beautiful line on the Island of Sodor. They loved to puff through the forest and over the rivers. An old bridge crosses one of the rivers. Some of its beams were rotten and had now been damaged by the storm. Skarloey chuffed happily along. He didn't see the broken rail until it was too late. He dangled dangerously above the water.
  • Skarloey: Help!
  • Michael Brandon: But Rheneas soon pulled him to safety. A few days later Sir Topham Hatt came to the sheds.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: The old bridge has been mended but the worker's freight cars had been left there. Skarloey, I need you to collect them.
  • Skarloey: Yes, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Skarloey. He didn't want to go on the bridge again. When Skarloey arrived he saw the freight cars on the other side. He started to cross, but stopped. He looked down into the rushing water. Skarloey was scared. He remembered what it happened before.
  • Skarloey's Driver: Come on, Skarloey.
  • Michael Brandon: Called his driver.
  • Skarloey's Driver: The bridge is safe now.
  • Michael Brandon: But Skarloey wouldn't cross the bridge and he and his driver went home instead.
  • Rheneas' Driver: We'll pick up the freight cars.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Rheneas' driver.
  • Rheneas: But if you don't cross the bridge soon...
  • Michael Brandon: Said Rheneas.
  • Rheneas: Sir Topham Hatt will be cross.
  • Michael Brandon: Now Rheneas had to take Skarloey's loads as well as his own. Each morning he collected the freight cars and puffed across the bridge with his heavy load. Finally Sir Topham Hatt came to see Skarloey.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: If you won't cross the old bridge, you must stay here and shunt freight cars.
  • Michael Brandon: He scolded.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: I can't have engines that won't do as they're told.
  • Skarloey: Sorry, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Skarloey sadly. The next morning Rheneas took Skarloey's heavy loads as usual. Then he puffed and heaved through the countryside towards the bridge. He puffed so hard that he ran out of water.
  • Rheneas: Bother!
  • Michael Brandon: The yard manager spread the news.
  • Yard Manager: Rheneas has broken down.
  • Skarloey: We must go help him.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Skarloey bravely. He set off immediately. Skarloey was scared but determined. He rolled slowly up into the edge. The bridge creaked loudly. The river seemed deeper than ever.
  • Skarloey: I must rescue my friend.
  • Michael Brandon: Whispered Skarloey. He chuffed slowly onto the bridge. The bridge groaned as he rolled foward but Skarloey puffed on and on and finally, his driver coupled up and pulled Rheneas to safety.
  • Rheneas: Thank you.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Rheneas.
  • Rheneas: You were very brave to help me.
  • Michael Brandon: Skarloey is no longer afraid of the bridge and he loves his journeys more than ever.
  • (Another passing by sequence occurs and we begin It's Great To Be An Engine)
  • Children: (singing) Oh yes, it's great To be an engine And go steaming along, Puff puff puffing along, Peep peep peeping along. All the people waving As you speed along. Puff puff puffing along All day.We're all so proud to be Famous engines And travel through the countryside. We're always brave when There are hills to climb. No mountain is too high! Oh yes it's great To be an engine As you're steaming along. Puff puff puffing along, Peep peep peeping along. Fly along the rails as Your wheels go round Whiz whiz whizzing around All day. It doesn't matter Come rain or shine. There are always things For us to do. And in the cold cold Wintertime, We're ready. When you light the fire And stoke the boiler And we'll be there for you! Oh yes it's great To be an engine As you're steaming along. Puff puff puffing along, Peep peep peeping along. Feel the wind around you As you push along. Puff puff puffing along All day.
  • Girl: Just think - how wonderful it would be. To live on the magical Island of Sodor, Helping Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends All day long, It would be like a dream come true. If only I could be an engine too...
  • Children: (singing) Oh yes it's great To be an engine As you're steaming along. Puff puff puffing along, Peep peep peeping along. Fly along the rails as your Wheels go round. Whiz whiz whizzing around All day. Oh yes it's great To be an engine And go steaming along. Puff puff puffing along, Peep peep peeping along. All the people waving As you speed along. Puff puff puffing along, Peep peep peeping and Puff puff puffing Steam around all day!
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • (Another passing by sequence occurs and we begin Edward's Brass Band)
  • Michael Brandon: Summer is a busy time on the Island of Sodor. Vacationers have so much to see and do. There are trips to the seaside, balloon rides in the country and the brass band playing in the park. One morning, Edward was in a hurry. He didn't even stop to say hello to Stepney. Thomas was pleased to see Edward.
  • Thomas: What's up? Your smile's as broad as your smokebox.
  • Edward: I'm on my way to pick up the brass band.
  • Michael Brandon: Replied Edward.
  • Edward: The concert is tomorrow night.
  • Thomas: Don't crack your smokebox.
  • Michael Brandon: Teased Thomas. Edward couldn't wait to hear the brass band play their wonderful music. He was so excited about meeting the brass band that he didn't notice the giant crane. It was unloading a huge ship's boiler. Suddenly, the crane swung the boiler and knocked Edward right off the track. Cranky had been watching.
  • Cranky: You useless little engines are always in the way.
  • Michael Brandon: Poor Edward. Sir Topham Hatt came immediately.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: We will take you to the fitters yard and Bertie will have to meet the brass band instead of you.
  • Michael Brandon: Edward was sad. That night a raging storm rolled in. The fitters worked through the night trying to mend Edward. The rain pelted down. Now Edward felt sad and very dammed. Morning came and Sir Topham Hatt arrived.
  • Edward: Please sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Pleaded Edward.
  • Edward: Will the fitters be finished soon?
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Not soon enough and the band can't wait. I'm sorry Edward, Bertie will take them to the concert.
  • Michael Brandon: Edward felt worse than ever. Bertie collected the brass band and set off immediately. He bummed cheerfully along the country roads. But there was trouble ahead. Last night, storm had flooded the road. Bertie's driver decided to take a shortcut. But it was very muddy. Bertie's wheels did not like the mud. They scooted, they skated, they slid, they slipped.
  • Bertie: I'm stuck!
  • Michael Brandon: He groaned.
  • Bertie: (grunts)
  • Michael Brandon: Bertie revved his engine, but his wheels spun round and round. He couldn't budge. The brass band were worried.
  • Leader: We mustn't be late for our concert. Tune up your tuba.
  • Michael Brandon: Cried the leader of the band.
  • Leader: We'll call for help.
  • Michael Brandon: By now Edward was mended and hooked up to his coaches.
  • Edward's Driver: I can hear music.
  • Michael Brandon: Said his driver.
  • Edward: That's not music.
  • Michael Brandon: Wheeshed Edward.
  • Edward: That's an alarm.
  • Michael Brandon: And they raced off to the rescue. The musicians were delighted to see their old friend, so was Bertie.
  • Edward: I'll get you to the concert in time!
  • Michael Brandon: Edward cried.
  • Bandsmen: Thank you.
  • Michael Brandon: Said the worried bandsmen. That night, the concert was a great success. Everyone loved the music, especially Edward.
  • (Another passing by sequence occurs and we begin The Whistle Song)
  • (Engines whistling)
  • Children: (singing) Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo. Engines all have whistles, as everybody knows. And as they leave the station, you hear the whistle blow. Speeding down the hillside, the whistles blown with pride, Driver checks the signal, and whistles one more time. Engines, blow your whistles; Toby, ring your bell. Gordon and Henry, Thomas as well, Engines, blow your whistles and let's all have some fun! Engines, blow your whistles; Let's hear the whistle song! Every whistle's different; No two will sound the same, It helps to warn off danger if something's in your way. Whistles are important as every engine knows, Clear the line ahead now when the whistle blows! Engines, blow your whistles; Toby, ring your bell, James and Edward, Percy as well. Engines, blow your whistles and let's all have some fun, Engines, blow your whistles; Let's hear the whistle song An engine lost its whistle and could not make a sound. It really was a problem until one could be found. 'Cause an engine's not an engine if it hasn't got a whistle, Hear the whistle blows!
