This page is to explain enchanting in detail.

Enchanting can be used to bestow special effects onto usable items.

Enchanting requires 2 things.

  • Etching pen
  • Runes

Etching Pen

An etching pen is required to etch runes into the item. There are only a few types of pens.

  • Plain
  • Offensive
  • Defensive

A plain etching pen has no words before it. It does only the base value on any type of enchantment, but is the cheapest of pens.

An offensive etching pen has the word "Offensive" before it. It increases the effects of offensive enchantments, but decreases effects of defensive enchantments.

A defensive etching pen has the word "Defensive" before it. It increases the effects of defensive enchantments, but decreases effects of offensive enchantments.

Runes are the symbols that produce an enchantment. To get a rune for free use, you must first learn an enchanting weave. The rune(s) in the weave are unable to be used freely if you haven't researched them. After researching them to discover their meaning and compatibilities, you may use them freely in rune links.

Rune Links

Rune links are enchantments in the written form. In order to create a rune link, you must first know the meanings and compatibilities of the runes you want to use. Then you must link runes by connecting them together. In other words, you have to connect a horizontal exit (either on top, middle, or bottom) with a horizontal entrance of the same location. If the runes are compatible, they will link and you have an enchantment.

Quality is a variable that is affects multiple parts of an enchantment.

Variant Causes

Quality varies because of a few things.

  • Chance
  • Professing
  • Quality of Ingredients

Quality can change at a random chance. There is a 1/50 chance of reducing the quality by one, and a 1/100 chance of increasing the quality by one.

If you have selected cooking as one of your professions, it will increase the maximum quality from 40 to 50, and it increases the quality increase chance from 1/100 to 1/25.

Quality of Ingredients

The quality of the ingredients used in making the item is the basis for quality. The average quality used in the original construction is the original quality of the item.

Quality Effects

Quality's fluctuations, in enchanting, affect two things.

  • Enchantment effects
  • Skill gained

Enchantment Effects

An enchantment's effects changes to quality on a 1/3 ratio. That is, 1 point per 3 quality.

Skill Gained

Quality affects the skill exp gained from creating the item, also. The skill exp. increase is on a 1:5 ratio. That is, 1 experience point per 5 quality.

Enchanting is beneficial in that it allows you to enchant your own items for less cost.

One of enchanting's cons is that it requires researching to freely use runes.

Benefits of Professing

Professing in this skill means that you can learn higher leveled weaves and can use higher leveled runes freely.

Criteria for Suggesting a Crafting System

In order for your idea of how to enchant in Akami to be considered, it must at LEAST meet the following criteria.

  • It must involve drawing the correct runes in the correct order.
  • It must involve spacial restrictions (limits on the space that can or must be used).
  • It must involve some type of hazard with incompatible runes.

Other ways to improve your chances of your idea being accepted include:

  • A view of the object you're enchanting.
  • A playable prototype.
  • A way to show progress on the enchantment.
