Overview[]

A lot of the heroes in this story have a lot of traits in common. They have either been cast out or left behind by people of the social norm after they found out that said hero was different than them. This applies to both humans and gems.

However, they don't need the approval of the social norm people, all they need is to survive and become whole in their own way.

While a lot of these heroes qualify as the main characters in some episodes, there are a total of six primary ones. Their names are Juli, Peridot, Emerald, Double Dee, Pearl, and Marie Kanker

Juli[]

The primary character and the one who formed the group of students attending the Peach Creek High School.

Juli Kidman

She isn't lawless, because she is guided by a strong sense of right and wrong, but as the characters she hangs out with finally realize, "She doesn't care about the good and the bad."  Mostly it's enough to peg Juli as a good person, but that doesn't really do her justice.

This is means she'll help out anyone she sees as a friend regardless of whether or not they do good or bad deeds. As a rule, Juli have a "live and let live" attitude when it comes to the oppressive customs of places she visits. Barbaric cruelty towards the helpless and innocent people WILL rouse her anger, but in general she will only fight scum when she considers it personal.

Thanks to this, neither the audience nor the other characters can really predict where this moral sense will take her, and she surprises even Peridot a lot.

Part of Juli's character development is coming to terms with her feelings towards Marie Kanker.

Juli is voiced by and loosely based off Alex Hopson. Alex Hopson also voiced Peridot in the same show..

Peridot[]

Peridot is Juli's Number one Guy and a former invader of earth.

Peridot Icon

Peridot was sent from Homeworld to check on the progress of , but her mission was thwarted by the Crystal Gems and she was left stranded on Earth. With nowhere else to go, she decided to help the Crystal Gems destroy The Cluster and, after being capture, she slowly  and curious about Earth. After failing to convince her superior to spare Earth, Peridot completely defected from Homeworld to become a full-fledged Crystal Gem.

Peridot was raised in a imperialistic space empire bent on destroying organic life, and apparently idolized (presumably out of fear) her superior, who was very intolerable toward Peridots, was never able to experience human emotions until she discovered life on Earth and became fascinated by it, most of the stuff she worked really hard on was eventually destroyed, and was betrayed by her own idol after she tried to talk her out of destroying the Earth.

She's childish, apathetic towards others, and has a habit of taunting her enemies with wacky faces and degrading insults such as "clod" or "infestation". However as her time and interactions with the Crystal Gems and Humans have increased she has slowly been acting less jerkish. She also has developed feelings for Emerald and plans on marrying her someday............of course, she doesn't want to admit it.

This doesn't stop her from harming Double Dee though and not properly taking care of him.

Peridot is voiced by Shelby Rabara.

Emerald[]

The resident brawns of the group and the one Peridot has a crush on.

Emerald is a gem who was originally part of Yellow Diamond to act as a high-ranked bodyguard. Eventually after hearing about Peridot's betrayal of Yellow Diamond and upon realizing that her boss was a full blown sociopath. She fled to Earth and decided to go there out of self imposed banishment.

Emerald's a gluttonous prankster for sure but she's also shown to genuinely care for her friends and has a sense of honor. Also worth noting is that by having Juli work with her, she was accepting those who would've very likely otherwise been shunned from society. She especially cares about Peridot who she has feelings for.

Emerald is voiced by Shelby Rabara.

Double Dee[]

Quiet possibly the most unlucky character in the entire series. Which is saying a lot.

Double D blank

Double Dee, also know by his real name Edd, is a character who acts as Juli's Mentor figure and both Peridot and Emerald's Father Figure. He is cunning, polite, and very gentlemanly.

However, Double Dee is only Juli's Mentor when ever she wants to listen to him. Plus both Peridot and Emerald inflict Three Stooges style violence on him whenever they want to.

He is the focus of physical torment that would actually kill a lesser man a thousand times. Some of these accidents include being mowed down by a car, dropped from a great height, and even nearly drowned by a flash flood.

Double Dee eventually put himself through intense training to make himself stronger and it worked to an extent. One hand he can now fight properly. But, it won't stop Peridot and Emerald from attacking him.

Double Dee eventually starts dating Pearl and the two fall in love. Plus, Pearl is the only person who never tries to harm him.

Double Dee is voiced by and loosely based off of Zack M. Schwarz.

Pearl[]

The closest thing to a sane or rational person in this show. Yet not even Pearl's completely sane.

Pearl's smile

A perfectionist and intellectual strategist, Pearl is the mental powerhouse of the Gems. She strives for structure and logic and gets easily flustered when things don't go as planned. She also is a little nervous, has some trouble speaking emotionally when others are upset, and is a little quietly resentful that her strengths are not ones Steven considers admirable. Pearl is the former girlfriend of Rose Quartz and they lived happy for thousands of years. That is until Rose fell for Greg Universe, dumped Pearl, and died giving birth to Steven.

As a result Pearl acts cute, sweet, and gentle, but can actually behave in a mentally unstable and sometimes dangerous behavior.

Pearl developed a fatal attraction towards Double Dee because he constantly helped and took care of her when they interact. The two eventually became a couple but Pearl can be obsessive and possessive of Double Dee.

Pearl is loosely based off of Liz Ishii.

Pearl is voiced by Deedee Magno-Hall.

Marie Kanker[]

Marie is an easily angered, intimidating, flirtatious, sly, and rather tomboyish girl who acts as Juli's love interest. She is one of the three Kanker Sisters.

Marie's sneer

Marie is very crafty. This is largely because she is the most rational of the Kankers. Quite often, she is able to misdirect and mislead people. She is also known as the sneakiest of the Kanker Sisters. While Lee is most often seen as the leader of the sisters, Marie has been known to strike out on her own, and in some cases challenges Lee for command of the trio. Of the three, she is the most rational, countering some of Lee's short fuse and May's stupidity. She is not easily scared and hardly ever backs down.

Marie is very crafty. This is largely because she is the most rational of the Kanker Sisters. Quite often, she is able to misdirect and mislead people. She is also known as the sneakiest of the three.

Although her appearance would suggest that she likes bad boys, her original "boyfriend" was Double Dee and she later dated Juli. This is odd, as Double is in no way rebellious and Juli is a rather quiet loner, rebellious tendencies aside.

This is because that she likes people who, like Marie, are somewhat smarter than average.

On occasion, she has shown a soft side, however. Marie is known to enjoy painting, is willing to make Double Dee a meal, and is very caring of Juli.

Marie is voiced by Kathleen Barr who also voices Kevin in the same show.

Eddy[]

Eddy is a con man who likes to cheat people out of money.

Eddy frown

He is often selfish, and mostly works for his own interests, sometimes even acting cowardly towards others. Because he is frequently overambitious, deceiving, and power-hungry, his peers often socially reject him. He's a greedy, selfish jerk who cares for nobody except himself (He will show softer moments and can care about his friends), but that's exactly why he's well liked by the audience. After all, there's something admirable about just how honest the guy is about his ambitions and motivations. Not to mention, Eddy's so charismatic and slick, so it doesn't really matter if he's a jerk.

Lee has a crush on him, but it's unknown if Eddy even likes her back. Thought, it's probably not the case.

Eddy is voiced by a YouTuber named "Lone Lion".

"Big" Ed[]

Big Ed is possibly the craziest character in the entire story, which is saying a lot.

Big Ed's happiness

Defining Big Ed's personality can be difficult. He is an unpredictable person, not even his allies are aware of what he will do next. This includes Juli. This is because Big Ed is off in his own little reality, the people who talk with him have a hard time understanding what he's talking about, and he can sometimes forget things...............like obeying gravity and eating objects that aren't edible. His first thoughts after being defeated is wondering whether or not he lost his hair, despite the fact he's bald as an egg.

To keep his description short let's put it this way. When you hang out with a insanely selfish conman who wants everything in life, and he's more significantly more rational and clear minded than you, you are CRAZY.

However, he is cheerful, friendly, and always has a big smile on his face. Plus, he's easy to get a long with.

Big Ed is voiced by Isaak LeBlanc.

Lee Kanker[]

The Eldest of the three Kanker Sisters.

Lee Kanker

Lee seems to be the leader of the Kankers and most likely the eldest sister. Despite this leadership role, her sisters aren't exactly blind followers, and so quite often there are scraps for leadership among the Kankers, as evidenced by their various arguments. However, Lee doesn't have a problem with this, as she enjoys the brawls, and this may even help her out in two ways, as the fights both establish her authority and keep her sisters in good physical shape for whenever they might need to go out and establish power.

Even though Lee loves fighting, her style is quite pragmatic, especially when she is teamed up with her sisters.

Lee does not seem to be motivated solely by her love for Eddy, however, as she is (like her sisters) willing to steal his hard-earned (or rather, hard-scammed) money whenever the feeling takes her.

Lee is voiced by Janyse Jaud.

May Kanker[]

The youngest and least cunning out the three Kanker sisters.

May Kanker

Quite often, she stays in the background while Lee, and to a lesser extent Marie, does the talking. On occasion, she does speak up, but usually she seems content to follow her older siblings. However, when she does speak up, her voice is often loud and piercing, and this has been shown to be one of her techniques for persuading her sisters to undertake a course of action.

Like her sisters, May is willing to resort to physical violence when it's necessary and even when it's not. Although she is slower to anger than her sisters are, she has proven repeatedly that in a fight she can hold her own, and that in some cases she relishes them.

She seems to have feelings for Big Ed, but he doesn't seem to have the same opinion on her.

May is voiced by Erin Fitzgerald

Garnet (Ruby and Sapphire)[]

Garnet is the new leader of the Crystal Gems, having taken over after the death of Rose Quartz.

Garnet the Gem

She's a powerful, strong and disciplined warrior. A Gem of few words, Garnet is the most aloof member of team. However, when she does speak, everyone listens. She is usually very introspective, but living with Steven, she is beginning to come out of her shell a little.

She is a fusion between two tiny gems named Ruby and Sapphire.

Garnet is the quiet, stoic, but very kind and supportive as a leader.

Ruby is the type of person often lets her anger and frustration get the best of her, and so is complemented well by her more reserved partner Sapphire.

Ruby wears her heart on her sleeve most of the time. So when she's upset, half of her angry expressions are very cute and cartoonish. And she is openly and mushily affectionate with Sapphire after they make up, kissing on her, holding her bridal style, and calling her "Laughy Sapphy" much to the (joyful) embarrassment of Sapphire.

Sapphire starts off calm and emotionless, but she's shown to be less stoic when she and Ruby are happy together. She can get easily distracted by Ruby and is too busy flirting to do her tasks.

Sapphire and Ruby

Garnet is voiced by Estelle.

Ruby is voiced by Charlyne Yi

Sapphire is voiced by Erica Luttrell

Amethyst[]

Amethyst is the Wild Child of the Crystal Gems.

Amethyst's smile

She loves to instigate pranks and act ridiculous even in the face of danger, which can sometimes result in innocents like Steven getting caught in the middle of her antics. She often chafes under the discipline of the two older Gems. Before Steven came around, Amethyst was the youngest Crystal Gem.

Whenever Double Dee isn't getting hurt or injured, Amethyst is the one who provides physical humor.

Amethyst is voiced by Michaela Dietz

Steven Universe[]

Steven is the lovable, half-human and half-Gem boy who is still figuring out to harness his power – the Rose Quartz gem he inherited from his mother.

Steven-0

He's goofy, energetic and optimistic. He takes his role as a Crystal Gem seriously, learning all his lessons, and taking his discipline with good humor when the situation calls for it. He is very much in touch with his emotions, and does not shy away from saying how he feels. He is as impulsive as any other boy his age might be, but counts on his Gem family to keep him safe.

Steven is an enthusiastic, dorky kid who is awkward about introducing himself to Connie, gets really excited about things like birthdays or breakfasts, and will adopt as his new best friend virtually anything that sits still long enough, even acid-spewing bug monsters or fully-grown lions.

Steven is voiced by Zach Callison

Rose Quartz[]

Rose Quartz was the founder and previous leader of the Crystal Gems. She found Amethyst and brought her into the group.

Rose Quartz

Twenty years ago, she met and fell in love with Greg Universe. She became pregnant with Steven, but died in child birth. What we know about her is mostly from flashbacks, videotapes, and the descriptions from Greg and the Gems; although she could fight as well as any Gem, she was full of love and compassion for every living thing she ever encountered.

She was the former lover of Pearl, until she started dating Greg Universe.

Pearl tells Double Dee a bit about Rose Quartz when they visit her grave. She also states that Rose Quartz is the one who slew Blue Diamond after a terrible war.

When Pearl and Double Dee visit Rose Quartz's grave a second time, they notice flowers growing there and Pearl remarks that she senses Rose presence with them but cannot see her.

Rose Quartz is voiced by Susan Egan in flashbacks

Kevin[]

Kevin is one of the primary villains of the show.

Kevin

There's not one shred of likability to Kevin whatsoever; he's a brute and a bully all in one, and not even a credit to his group in any sense.

While he is normally cocky and arrogant when he has the upper hand, he immediately begins to panic and turns into a complete coward when he begins to lose control over a fight. He loves harming weaker opponents, doesn't care about who he has to brutalize or kill to get his way, and only cares about himself.

While it's not hard for people (in-series or out) to hate Kevin, Juli and Eddy is the most vindictive toward him. His calm, cocky exterior falls apart as Juli and her group prove to be more than his gang members can handle. By the time they won, he's become a raving lunatic who's both furious and afraid of his opponents.

Kevin is voiced by Kathleen Barr who also voices Marie in the same show.

Yellow Diamond[]

Yellow Diamond is one of the primary villains of the show.

Yellow Diamond
Yellow Diamond's Shadow 1

A tyrannical evil overlord who is trying to take over the galaxy, Yellow Diamond is brutally sadistic and violent. Case in point after killing a subordinate for failing her she starts smiling in a creepy manner and laughing maniacally. While she hides it under class and sophistication, she's prone to unpredictable and violent mood swings.

After Emerald spoke out against Yellow Diamond's desires of vengeance, Yellow Diamond throws her out of the ship by slamming her through a window, which sucked up and killed several solders.

When she's not infuriated, Yellow Diamond is quite polite and compliments her opponents' skills for lasting so long against her and even offers to spare them if they come work for her. Deep down, she's anything but nice and is quite temperamental, especially when things don't go her way.

Yellow Diamond carries all the traits of a classic, narcissistic sociopath. She is utterly incapable of empathy or remorse, manipulates others with a smile, impulsive and tends to do things without thinking, incredibly sadistic and violent, and is driven by staggering arrogance and never takes responsibility for her actions nor does she learn from her mistakes.

After being killed by Peridot and Garnet, she's sent to Hell....

......her spirit was kept imprisoned there, where she was tortured by being forced to endure an overly saccharine song of angels, fairies, ponies, and stuffed animals.

Yellow Diamond is voiced by Patti LuPone.

Her servants are all voiced by Deedee Mango-Hall

Blue Diamond[]

The original head of the Homeworld Gems.

Blue Diamond

For all her stoicism, she is very quick to anger and will kill her own men. Blue Diamond does this while talking in a soothing manner. She was killed by Rose Quartz during the war for Earth.  Blue Diamond is voiced by Estelle in Flashbacks.

The Yamashiro Space Pirates (Lord Stingray)[]

A massive paramilitary space pirate army and crime syndicate led by Lord Stingray.

Logo of the Yamashiro Space Pirates

The Yamashiro Space Pirates are actually highly dangerous and can be considered powerful enough that the highest ranked soldiers are walking Weapons of Mass Destruction.

However, there Leader, Lord Stingray is the weakest member of the group and is harmless without his massive army.

Lord Stingray's portrait

Lord Stingray pictures himself as the main villain, but is more of a whiny, utterly insane, spoiled brat. He can never catch a break nor does he really deserves one. In fact, Lord Stingray is rendered homeless after his space pirate army is destroyed.

The name Yamashiro (山城 or "Mountain castle") was a dreadnought battleship built for the Imperial Japanese Navy that was used during both WWI and WWII.

Lord Stingray is voiced by Chuck Hubber.
