It was started in the "Babble" forum by the user Daodos as a post that expressed his views on his greatness. It contained some light RP (role play) elements to it. Vezquex, the moderator and webmaster, made a short reply. Daodos then started what could be considered a typical post in the series, consisting of several lines of back-and-forth dialogue in a script format. This started Vezquex Forums' most popular thread, VDTaFatEod. The posts, or chapters, gradually increased in length, a contest between the two main writers. More people joined in and contributed, indicating rising popularity. Tenshimaru introduced himself into the mix and later Hamster of Doom and Brille.

Plot[]

A tournament between the characters materializes.

Characters[]

Daodos[]

CHARACTER
Daodos
Daodos
Actor self
Weapon giant vegetable peeler

Daodos is the first character seen in VDTaF, although is not first in the acronym. The user Daodos started this as a complete joke over how popular he was becoming on a board at GameFAQs. He is usually classified as the most stupid and dumb-witted member. His trademark weapon is a giant vegetable peeler. He also has a trademark attack that he uses later called the "Victory Cannon". This is preformed much like a hadouken from Street Fighter. Has been shown to have a thing for catgirls, he makes references time and time to a place called "Catgirl Island" which is apparently inhabited by catgirls. This partly leads to him being the local Otaku, having knowledge and skills from anime and video games. He has also been classified as the leader sometimes but this is mainly due to being the first character.

Vezquex[]

CHARACTER
Vezquex
Actor self
Weapon Windows ME Disk
OS Windows ME
Traits Everyone gets his name wrong.
Enemy Hamster of Doom

Vezquex is the second character introduced in VDTaF. His name is used first in the acronym. This happens because the poster Vezquex created the title later and gave himself top-billing. Vezquex comes in pleased at how Babble is being used for its purpose, complete nonsense, doing so with a step towards the left. He is typecast as a ninja now and is usually known as the most responsible, yet second smartest member. His weapons have included wiimotes and a Windows ME disk. He is constantly irritated by Daodos and the rest but has a grudge against Hamster of Doom which leads to fighting once in a while. Vezquex has also been titled as the leader, but it is best to say that he and Daodos are co-leaders that complete each others' weaknesses.

Tenshimaru[]

CHARACTER
Tenshimaru
Actor self
Weapon UGWT
Traits tendency to get lost or separated

Tenshimaru is introduced third in the VDTaF series as being friends of Daodos and Vezquex, naturally. He is seen being somewhere in Africa, thousands of miles away from Daodos and Vezquex. He is the last to have his name abbreviated in the title. Tenshimaru's weapon is the UGWT, (Uber Gigantic Weapon Thingy). That never has ammo, or doesn't fire. When it does fire it disrupts reality and causes random things to occur. (Such as Scottish accents and talking trees). Tenshimaru has a tendency to be very childlike, i.e. is clumsy and frequently gets lost. This leads to him having to be rescued.

Mikeagun[]

CHARACTER
Mikeagun
Actor self
Weapon Microsoft® Multimedia Keyboard
OS Windows Vista Ultimate
Traits hacker

Mikeagun is the only character based off a user that has never posted towards the story but is a supporter of VDTaF. He was introduced after Tenshimaru and gets more character development before Tenshimaru was a full character in the team. He is a stowaway and is later a regular part of the team and is classified as the smartest. He acts as the technician and is always carrying his wireless keyboard, which is also his weapon from which his battle cry is "Homerowed!!!"

Hamster of Doom[]

CHARACTER
Hamster of Doom
Actor self
Weapon Coconuts
Enemy Vezquex

Hamster of Doom is introduced much later and is the 5th character in the series. Hamster of Doom is introduced and demands to be part of the team very forcefully. He joins right before the Japan arc, and is apparently accused of being the cause of an SARS out break. He carries coconuts as a weapon and has been known to throw many different sizes from small normal sized ones to giant boulder sized ones. He is once depicted as a guy in a mascot uniform and is the teams unofficial mascot because of that. He has a grudge with Vezquex and this leads to fighting once in a while.

Brille[]

CHARACTER
Brille
Actor self
Weapon Sunglasses
OS Ubuntu
Traits Handsome

Brille is introduced not very long after Hamster of Doom and is from the future. He becomes part of the team after confronting them after they leave an evil Nintendo DS factory. He is with out a doubt the dashing one in the group. He can make sun glasses appear and use them to attack his opponents. Doesn't do much fighting because no one wants to hurt someone so dashing.

Zoomer[]

Zoomer is the latest to join the team. Not much has happened after he joined mid-tournament arc, but what we do know is that he is fast and is addicted to speed or crack, as well as having ADHD.

Villains[]

Zombie Fanboys[]

Mass and mass amount of zombies who were corrupted by their fanboyism. They attack the VDTaF squad quite often, usually failing. Not only are there console fanboys, but more dangerous franchise fanboys, like the Resident Evil fanboys that kidnap Tenshimaru.

Jack Thompson[]

Jack Thompson, the evil Lawyer vampire. He is the first actual villain the VDTaF team faces. He threatens to sue everyone who offends him and has many supernatural abilities and armies. After chasing the team who were retreating, they crash on a island where Tenshimaru eats Jack Thompson because he was hungry. Main opponent to-All.

Minor Characters[]

Narrator[]

At times, the narrator will inexplicably gain the ability to be heard by the characters, so will engage in trash talking contests. The role of narrator may be taken by force at any time or even temporarily given to a normal character.

Sir Winston Churchill[]

We don't know why Sir Winston Churchill is alive. Whether he is a zombie fanboy or not. He appears during the tournament to fight Tenshimaru. Main opponent-Tenshimaru.

Evil Daodos[]

Evil Daodos is a weird enclosed individual who is very similar and different from the original. His origins are unknown and confusing as he is very indecisive and can't decide were he came from because he wants to sound cool, ending up making him look like an idiot. He has some issues that are apparent by his twitch. He carries a giant cheese grater and has an attack called, "Two Thumbs Down" in opposition to Daodos' moves. Main opponent-Daodos.

Cell Processor[]

A evil computer of a doomed schizophrenic console. Runs the zombies in making its console. Main Opponent-Vezquex.

Tony Blair[]

The prime Minister of England becomes a villain to Daodos after stealing away Cat from him while they were running from the tournament. Although he is not evil, Daodos hates the English because of this.

Butters[]

Butters is a old acquaintance of the team and likes to inflict damage on Daodos. Although he hated Daodos, Daodos sees him as a friend. He attacks with Butter Blades which can induce high cholesteral and blood pressure. As well as block the arteries, causing a heart attack. Seen during the tournament arc briefly.

Laser[]

The laser is a sentient being that was fired by a bear. He is frst seen in the third chapter but later shows up during the tournament arc. He really doesn't seem to care much about anything and just does as he pleases. Weakness is reflective surfaces.

Cat[]

Cat is a generic catgirl from Japan. She works as a sushi waitress making bad tips. Daodos decides to eat there quite a lot, apparently, during the SARS outbreak, and because of that, Cat got really good tips from him. When Daodos entered the tournament, Cat showed up to make sure he didn't die, so that she could make good tips again. She becomes Daodos' side kick for a while and later joined Tony Blair to make the first sushi and tea joint in England, abandoning Daodos and the others while they ran away from the British.

Style Guidelines[]

Since VDT is open for people to post on (although is heavily moderated), some style guidelines have been established.

To have a character speak, put their capitalized abbreviation followed by a colon (:) and single space. If multiple characters share lines, separate the abbreviations with a plus sign and spaces ( + ). When they are speaking in a certain way, such as whispering, put this detail in parentheses (()). So,

V + T: (whimpering) Where have all the haxorz gone?

would be valid.

Check your spelling, grammar, and conventions for errors. This means correct use of punctuation. The story generally takes place in present tense, so take special care not to mix tenses. It's OK to have use slang and be a little l337 at times, but it should still be easy to read. Repetition of letters and exclamation points is also tolerable, but do not abuse this technique.

Ellipses (...) are for pauses in speech. Do not confuse this with being interrupted, for which you would use an em dash (—). Brackets ([]) are for comments not to be included in the story and also for English translation of foreign language. The interrobang (‽) combines an exclamation point with a question mark. Use the HTML code ‽ to use it. Asterisks (**) offset short actions.

If there is an action longer than a few words, do not denote with asterisks (**). Make it a narration by using narrative italics ([n][/n]) in a separate paragraph. Within a narration, always use the characters' full names. To signify a thought, use italics within a character's line.

Running Gags[]

  • Bickering
  • Vague battles (not blow-by-blow, continue during calm dialog)
  • Fanboys are the enemy, and are portrayed as zombie-like drones.
  • Sony and Microsoft are evil.
  • Use of emoticons and slang with ambiguous pronunciation in speech
  • Sudden scene changes
  • New Nintendo Accessories (Wiimote Laser, Wiimote Hot Air Balloon)
