Transcript[]

Narrator: Flora enjoys working on the Island of Sodor. She is a yellow tram engine. She usually works on the tramway at Great Waterton, but sometimes works around other parts of the island. One day, Flora was taking a train of stone to Brendam Docks. She puffs across the island. When she came to Gordon's Hill, the train became too much for her to handle at once.

Flora: Maybe I should split the train into two halves.

Narrator: And that's just what she did. She took one half of the train over the hill, and came back for the rest of her trucks. Daisy was waiting at Wellsworth when Flora arrived with her train.

Daisy: Running late? You're much too weak to pull a train of stone like that.

Flora: I'm trying my hardest.

Daisy: (Laugh) You'll never be as good as me.

Flora: (Sighs)

Narrator: That night, Sir Topham Hatt came to see Flora.

Sir Topham Hatt: Flora, you're needed on the main line tomorrow. You must help deliver goods along the line.

Flora: But I'll never be able to deliver all of them on time, sir. I'm a small tram engine.

Sir Topham Hatt: Nonsense! You're one of two tram engines on Sodor, and you must be really useful.

Narrator: But Flora was worried. She had needed to split her train of stone into halves today. What if she wasn't able to pull long goods trains along the main line? The next morning, Flora left her shed, and made her way to Knapford Yards. When she arrived, Daisy was there taking on fuel.

Daisy: I'm working on the main line, and I have to pull trucks along with a passenger run. I bet I can pull more trucks than you.

Narrator: Flora could see that her trucks were ready to go. They looked very heavy.

Flora: I'll never be able to pull all those trucks.

Toby: Nonsense! You can do it, Flora.

Flora: Thank you, Toby. That makes me feel a little better.

Narrator: So Flora buffered up to the trucks, and puffed out of the yard. Flora delivered coal trucks for the Ffarquhar Branch Line, and fuel tankers for Edward's Branch Line. She even delivered goods vans for the Peel Godred Branch Line.

Flora: Maybe I can do it.

Narrator: As Flora made her way to Vicarstown for more trucks, Daisy raced passed in the opposite direction. She was pulling a long goods train. Daisy soon reached Gordon's Hill. She was hoping to get to the top quickly, but her trucks held her back. And Daisy became stuck on the hill.

Daisy: Oh, bother!

Narrator: The stationmaster at Maron heard the news, and flagged down Flora.

Maron Stationmaster: You need to push Daisy to the top of the hill.

Flora: Yes, sir. Although, I don't think I can get Daisy and her train over the hill.

Gina: Don't forget what Toby told you earlier; you can do it, Flora.

Flora: I'll do my best.

Narrator: When Daisy heard Flora was going to help her, she was cross.

Daisy: Flora's a weak engine. She'll never be able to push me and my train up the hill.

Narrator: Flora buffered up behind Daisy's train. Then she pushed with all her might, but Daisy didn't move.

Daisy: (Laugh) Is that the best you can do? They should have sent a strong engine.

Narrator: Flora was about to give up. But then she remembered what Toby and Gina told her.

Flora: I can do it. I can do it.

Narrator: Flora pushed harder and harder. And suddenly, Daisy began to more. Flora kept pushing. She huffed, and puffed and chuffed until they reached the top of the hill. Daisy raced down the other side, and Flora went back to Maron to pick up her goods train. She felt very proud.

Flora: I did it!

Narrator: That evening, Sir Topham Hatt gathered Flora and Daisy together.

Sir Topham Hatt: Daisy, I heard you've been saying rude things to Flora, and I'm very disappointed in you. So for your punishment, you will do some of Ryan's goods work on the Harwick Branch Line for a month.

Daisy: Yes, sir. And I'm sorry, Flora. You are a really useful engine indeed.

Flora: That's alright, Daisy.

Sir Topham Hatt: Flora, I heard you worked very hard today. I'm very pleased with you. You are a really useful engine.

Flora: Thank you, sir.

Narrator: Flora felt the happiest engine on Sodor.
