[edit] Summary
"Friendship Hall" is a family of phrases yelled by the Ship of Fools to confuse people.
[edit] Origins
Jeff "Spanke" Spanke and his close friend and confidant Kevin O'Shea are known patrons of the finer establishments of the local West Lafayette 21 and over scene, when they aren't spending time post-show with the Ship of Fools. One tradition they share is driving past these areas and yelling to people they know, people they don't know, inebriated patrons, or some combination thereof. They use a set of highly unusual and unorthodox phrases in order to maximize confusion as they drive by screaming out of an open window. Many of the Ship of Fools have adopted this practice, but typically limit themselves to yelling at friends and other Fools.
[edit] Examples
Known phrases include:
- Excuse me! Do you know where Friendship Hall is?
- Are you from the future?
- What year is this?
- Get a job!
- Put on some socks, you hippie!
[edit] Notes
- It cannot be stressed enough the volume and enthusiasm with which these phrases are said.
- Laughing is discouraged, at least until a getaway is made.
- Do NOT yell while the car is stopped! Wait for a green light.
[edit] Meaning
Nobody to this day knows the true reason for the phrases. Some have suggested a slight influence of the Back to the Future trilogy, but this has yet to be confirmed.
