Already in the very first days, the Society for the support of the Geological-Palaeontological Museum of the University of Hamburg was founded, the amber working group "Arbeitskreis Bernstein" was build and an main part of the society.

Right now the society excists mainly from members, interested in amber.

The society is a forum and meeting point for scientists, collectors, artists, dealers, exhibitors and hobbyists interested in amber.

Already in the first year the society had 53 members; after the 10th annivarsary it has been more than 210 members!

During the time, the society got more and more interest internationally, too.

Today the amber working group dispatches member's post in the following countries:

Germany, Denmark, the Dominican Republic, Great Britain, Indonesia, Italy, Canada, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, the Ukraine and USA
