Transcript

US version

  • Alec Baldwin: One morning, Henry was delivering cars full of thistles to the nearest side of the railway. He placed them on a siding, and carried them carefully onto the platform of Maithwaithe Station. He had done the same thing over ten times, but it wasn't an interesting way to spend the whole afternoon and he had nothing to do about it.
  • Henry: It sure would be nice to see someone come by for a visit.
  • Alec Baldwin: Henry thought to himself.
  • Henry: No other engine will, of course. They'll never do anything, and why should they?
  • Alec Baldwin: Just then, Gordon puffed by with the express.
  • Gordon: Hello, Henry!
  • Alec Baldwin: He called.
  • Henry: Hello to you, Gordon.
  • Alec Baldwin: Whistled Henry.
  • Henry: This is quite a surprise! No one on the Island of Sodor ever comes to see me, not that i would blame them. This is your visit, isn't it?
  • Alec Baldwin: He asked hopefully.
  • Gordon: Of course it is, Henry!
  • Alec Baldwin: Grinned Gordon.
  • Gordon: Express engines like me like doing all kinds of shunting stuff, like freight cars for example. I wasn't interrupting anyone, am I? You weren't doing any special delivery, were you?
  • Henry: Me?
  • Alec Baldwin: Asked Henry.
  • Henry: Not really. I'm just moving these cars full of thistles on a siding. Would you like to accept your teamwork on shunting?
  • Alec Baldwin: Gordon was confused.
  • Gordon: You need to get more thistles unless an express engine pulls cars full of thistles.
  • Alec Baldwin: He said.
  • Gordon: Now, let me see.
  • Alec Baldwin: Gordon thought for a moment.
  • Gordon: What you need...
  • Alec Baldwin: He said.
  • Gordon: ...is to pull the express like me. It's the only job on the Island, and you can be as fast as me.
  • Henry: Well, Gordon.
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied Henry.
  • Henry: You may be good at express, but I'm not. Besides, if I tried to pull the express, the passengers will get bumpy. They always do, you know. And then where would I be?
  • Alec Baldwin: Before Gordon could reply, James arrived with a train full of vegetables.
  • James: Hello, Henry. Nice to see you.
  • Alec Baldwin: Tooted James.
  • Henry: Hello to you, James.
  • Alec Baldwin: Answered Henry.
  • Henry: You look like if you were in a good afternoon, and i doubt it.
  • Gordon: Well, hello there, little James.
  • Alec Baldwin: Called Gordon.
  • James: Are you out for your afternoon express, Gordon?
  • Alec Baldwin: James asked.
  • Gordon: Exactly!
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied Gordon.
  • Gordon: And I was just telling Henry here that he should try it, especially since he needs to get his cars out and do something.
  • James: Then he should try to pull my train.
  • Alec Baldwin: Suggested James.
  • James: It's quite a good run, you know. I should highly recommend it.
  • Alec Baldwin: Henry thought about pulling his train of vegetables. But what kind of these?
  • Henry: This train of vegetables?
  • Alec Baldwin: He asked.
  • Henry: Wouldn't it be nice to pull it?
  • James: Why yes of course, Henry.
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied James.
  • James: That's the very best train of vegetables there is.
  • Henry: Never mind, James.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Henry.
  • Henry: I don't like cars full of vegetables very much. Not at all, actually, but thanks for suggesting it.
  • Gordon: I don't even get the blame, little James.
  • Alec Baldwin: Chuckled Gordon.
  • Gordon: What kind of fun is working in a train of vegetables, anyway?
  • James: Oh really?!
  • Alec Baldwin: Snapped James, as he bashed his cars full of vegetables hard.
  • James: And what's so great about your silly express trains?! Tell me that!
  • Henry: Does anybody want to know that I...
  • Alec Baldwin: Began Henry, but before he can finish, Gordon and James were so busy arguing that they forgot that Henry was there, too.
  • Percy: What's all this fuss?
  • Alec Baldwin: Asked a very small voice. Henry, Gordon and James looked back. It was Percy.
  • James: Let's ask Percy right now.
  • Alec Baldwin: Agreed James.
  • Percy: Ask me what?
  • Alec Baldwin: Wondered Percy.
  • James: Henry needs to get some cars full of thistles out of a siding, and we're looking forward for him to go out and do, like pulling a train of vegetables.
  • Gordon: Or pulling the express.
  • Alec Baldwin: Put in Gordon.
  • James: Which job should Henry go out and do?
  • Alec Baldwin: James asked.
  • Percy: It's easy.
  • Alec Baldwin: Answered Percy.
  • Percy: When Thomas and I have nothing special planned, we can go out on a long explore. It's always exciting.
  • Gordon: Not an explore, Percy!
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Gordon crossly.
  • Gordon: He'll get lost for miles!
  • James: Besides, Percy.
  • Alec Baldwin: Added James indignantly.
  • James: It's too late for him to begin a long explore. It would be dark before he can find his way to the sheds.
  • Gordon: Exactly!
  • Alec Baldwin: Agreed Gordon.
  • Gordon: Pulling the express is a much better idea!
  • James: No, Gordon!
  • Alec Baldwin: Snapped James.
  • James: He needs a train of vegetables!
  • Gordon: I told you, he needs the express!
  • Alec Baldwin: Gordon snapped back. Poor Percy sighed.
  • Percy: I guess that idea wasn't so good to me after all.
  • Alec Baldwin: He muttered. Henry went unhappily to a siding to find his cars. He was sorry to see Gordon and James fighting, especially over him.
  • Henry: I wish I would know how to make my friends happy.
  • Alec Baldwin: He thought. Just then, Thomas arrived with Annie and Clarabel.
  • Thomas: A party!
  • Alec Baldwin: Chuffed Thomas excitedly.
  • Thomas: What fun! Am I invited, Percy?
  • Percy: It's not a party, Thomas.
  • Alec Baldwin: Percy replied.
  • Percy: It's more like a fight. Henry needs to get out more, and Gordon thinks he should pull the express, but James thinks he should pull a train of vegetables, and I told Henry to go on a long explore. It's no use, Thomas.
  • Alec Baldwin: Sighed Percy unhappily.
  • Percy: We just can't agree.
  • Thomas: Oh dear.
  • Alec Baldwin: Exclaimed Thomas.
  • Thomas: That doesn't look interesting to me at all. I wonder what Sir Topham Hatt would suggest.
  • Alec Baldwin: Unfortunately, Sir Topham Hatt wasn't around to suggest anything, so Gordon, James and Percy went on arguing, while Henry pushed his cars full of thistles for the rest of the day.
  • Thomas: All this fighting sure makes me starved.
  • Alec Baldwin: Sighed Thomas.
  • Thomas: I've got something up to my funnel, Henry. I don't suppose you'd have some more cars hidden somewhere, would you? Otherwise, I think I'll just have to go back to the sheds and see if I can find a little something in my coaches.
  • Percy: That's it!
  • Alec Baldwin: Percy said excitedly.
  • Percy: A picnic! Why don't we all go on it, Henry? That would be a great idea to get out and do, wouldn't it?
  • Thomas: Why, that's a great deal, Percy!
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Thomas.
  • Gordon: Yeah!
  • Alec Baldwin: Agreed Gordon.
  • Gordon: I could pull the express all the way there.
  • James: And I could bring cars full of vegetables for the railway.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said James.
  • Thomas: And I could go and fetch the picnic supplies for dessert.
  • Alec Baldwin: Added Thomas.
  • Percy: Well, Henry. What do you think?
  • Alec Baldwin: Asked Percy.
  • Henry: That's not such a terrible idea, but at least it's better than all this fighting.
  • Alec Baldwin: Admitted Henry. Later, all the engines met up for their picnic. Everyone seemed pleased, except Percy. He still wanted to go out on a long explore, but Henry knew that it would soon be too dark.
  • Henry: You know.
  • Alec Baldwin: Henry said to everyone.
  • Henry: I think we should all go on a short explore when we finish our picnic. Percy, would you and Thomas lead us? That way we won't get lost.
  • Percy: Sure, Henry.
  • Alec Baldwin: Grinned Percy. When Henry looked around his circle of smiling engines, he couldn't help but smile as well, in spite of himself.
