The HR-7401 is the world’s first compact sized hard disk recorder for uncompressed (RGB 4:4:4) High Definition Television. It uses a very reliable fibre channel hard disk as the recording medium, which can be removed / replaced as needed. The HR-7401 can record up to 20 minutes of uncompressed HDTV in real time as well as offering playback. If the user chooses to purchase additional hard drives, the recording time can be increased accordingly. Its 19” compact size light weight makes it the perfect tool space restricted studio applications and on location shoots where portability is very essential. [1]

Records in MPEG2 long-GOP at bit rates of up to 100Mbps and MPEG2 I-frame only at rates of up to 160Mbps. Recording from the uncompressed HD-SDI stream from a camera head in live mode means you can achieve far better quality than in-camera recording. Uses 4x inexpensive Compact Flash cards as media, roughly 1/10th the price of current proprietary solid-state media. Support for Quicktime and MXF formats for true tapeless, file-based workflow.
