Narrator: "It was a splendid morning on Acme Acres.

Plucky was feeling very pleased with himself. His green feathers gleamed in the sunshine as he sped along the line. He reached the junction just as Hamton puffed in with some Perfectoids. Plucky was surprised to see him.

Plucky: "What are you doing here, Hamton? You should be at the next station by now, You're late."

Hamton: "I know."

Narrator: "Sighed Hamton."

Hamton: "These Perfectoids have been troublesome all morning."

Plucky: "That's no excuse, Hamton."

Narrator: "Snorted Plucky."

Plucky: "Nothing should stop us. King Acorn relies on us to be on time. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be on my way."

Narrator: "And Plucky puffed importantly away."

Hamton: "Bossy Beak!"

Narrator: "Muttered Hamton.

Plucky arrived at the harbour. It was market day. The harbour yard was filled with the sweet smell of fruit from faraway lands. The fruit was delivered in big ships. Plucky watched the strawberries, oranges, melons, and bananas were carefully loaded into his Perfectoids. Then he set off to the station on the main line.

On the way, he met Buster."

Plucky: "Really reliable, that's me!"

Narrator: "Panted Plucky proudly."

Plucky: "Pity the same can't be said for Hamton. Quack! Quack! Goodbye!"

Gracie and Gladys: "What was that about?"

Narrator: "Gasped Gracie and Gladys."

Buster: "That was trouble. Trouble for Plucky. Just wait and see."

Narrator: "Hamton was back in the yard, and busy tackling. He had the Perfectoids in good order, and was making up for lost time.

But the stationmaster had bad news.

Hamton's Animator: "What's happened?"

Narrator: "Asked Hamton's Animator."

Stationmaster: "Plucky's feet have jammed. We need Hamton's help right away."

Narrator: "Hamton quickly set off to the rescue.

He found Plucky stuck on the line, and looking glum. Hamton couldn't help laughing."

Hamton: "Got yourself in a jam, eh, Plucky? What you might call a sticky situation?"

Plucky: "Be quiet!"

Narrator: "Said Plucky."

Plucky: "It's not funny having jammed feet."

Hamton: "And not very reliable, either."

Narrator: "Teased Hamton."

Hamton: "I am surprised you let it happen, Plucky. Nothing should stop us animals."

Hamton's Animator: "That's enough, Hamton."

Narrator: "Said his animator."

Hamton's Narrator: "Can you push these Perfectoids?"

Hamton: "Of course I can."

Narrator: "Grunted Hamton."

Hamton: "There is no time to lose. Plucky's done too much of that already."

Narrator: "Plucky angrily hissed steam as Hamton was coupled to the Perfectoids."

Hamton: "Off we go!"

Narrator :"Said Hamton."

Hamton: "I'll have to go fast to get there in time. These green ducks are so unreliable."

Hamton's Animator: "Be careful, Hamton."

Narrator: "Called his animator, but Hamton was in a hurry.

He didn't see that the sign had failed, and that he had been diverted into a siding.

Hamton's Animator: "Look out, Hamton!"

Narrator: "Shouted his animator, and applied the brakes, but it was too late!

Hamton's Animator had jumped clear, but squashed fruit squirted all over Hamton.

King Acorn arrived."

King Acorn: "Hamton, you are not to blame for the sign failure, but I do not run a jam factory!"

Hamton: "Yes sir, no sir!"

Narrator: "And Hamton squelched sadly away.

That night, Buster's burrow was silent. Plucky and Hamton felt very sorry for themselves. At last, Buster spoke."

Buster: "You know,"

Narrator: "He said to no one in particular,"

Buster: "There's more than one way to get jammed. We all learned that today."

Narrator: "Still, there was silence."

Buster: "What's more."

Narrator: "Continued Buster."

Buster: "We also learned that sometimes when animals help each other out of a..'jam', things can still go wrong.

Narrator: "'So?', said a voice."

Buster: "So."

Narrator: "Finished Buster."

Buster: That means we learned a lot today. And there for..."

Narrator: "Then came a chorus."

Plucky and Hamton: "We're really useful animals after all!"
