  • Michael Brandon: Thomas and Friends: Making Tracks To Great Destinations.
  • (We then start with the Season 8-10 intro and we then go to the Island of Sodor opening sequence)
  • Michael Brandon: The Island of Sodor is surrounded by beautiful blue sea. It has fields of green and sandy yellow beaches. There are rivers, streams, and lots of trees where the birds sing. There are windmills and a coal mine, and docks are visitors to the island arrived. The island also has lots and lots of railway lines. Who's that puffing down the track?
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Michael Brandon: It's Thomas! Hello, Thomas!
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Thomas: Hello, everybody! Welcome to the Island of Sodor!
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • (Toby's bell rings)
  • (Trevor's whistle toots)
  • (Edward's whistle toots)
  • (A wheesh of steam occurs and we begin Thomas and The Storyteller)
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas and The Storyteller. It was an important day on the Island of Sodor. A new library was going to be open. Everyone was excited. There was going to be a ceremony with a brass band, a red carpet, and boxes and boxes of books. All the children and all the grown-ups loved reading books and listening to stories. A famous storyteller was going to tell the children a special story. All the engines wanted to collect the famous storyteller, but Sir Topham Hatt chose Thomas. Thomas was excited.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: You must show the famous storyteller the special sights of Sodor.
  • Michael Brandon: He boomed.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Then she could make up a special story for the children. Make sure she arrives at the grand opening on time.
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Thomas: Yes, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas excitedly.
  • Thomas: I know all the best sights.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas puffed over to Brendam Docks. He wanted to do a good job. Thomas arrived at the docks. He looked up and down, left and right, and all around, looking for someone famous, but all he could see was a lady with a notepad and a big box of cookies.
  • Thomas: Are you the famous storyteller?
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas asked.
  • Storyteller: I like to think so.
  • Michael Brandon: Said the lady.
  • Storyteller: You must be Thomas the Tank Engine. Will you please show me the sights of Sodor?
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Thomas: Of course.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas happily. So the famous storyteller hopped on Thomas' foot plate and Thomas puffed away.
  • Thomas: Pirates Cove is not far from here. I shall take you there first
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Thomas. Pirates Cove was full of caves and secret tunnels. Legend had it that pirates used to bury their treasure there.
  • Thomas: You could make up a jolly good story about pirate treasure.
  • Michael Brandon: Whooshed Thomas happily. But on his way there, Thomas saw James. James was in trouble.
  • James: My coupling rod has snapped and I'm a guaranteed connection. My passengers have to arrive at Maithwaite Station on time.
  • Thomas: I'm sorry.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas puffed to the famous storyteller.
  • Thomas: I cannot take you to Pirates Cove. I have to help my friend.
  • Michael Brandon: So Thomas buffered up to James and his passenger train and chuffed away.
  • James: Thank you, Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: Cried James. Thomas arrived at Maithwaite just in time.
  • Thomas: The ruined castle is just over the hills.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Thomas to the famous storyteller.
  • Thomas: Now I will take you there.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas puffed as fast as he could. The ruined castle had tall turrets and a great, big door. The old kings and queens of Sodor used to live there.
  • Thomas: You could make up a jolly good story about kings and queens.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Thomas happily. But on his way there, Thomas saw Emily in a siding. She was looking sad. She was taking flour to the bakery, but her whistle had broken. It wasn't safe to work without it.
  • Thomas: I'm sorry.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Thomas to the famous storyteller.
  • Thomas: I cannot take you to the ruined castle. I have to help my friend.
  • Michael Brandon: So Thomas buffered up to Emily and took her to the bakery.
  • Emily: Thank you, Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Emily. Thomas arrived at the bakery just in time. Emily was pleased and Thomas puffed away.
  • Thomas: Misty Valley is not far from here.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Thomas.
  • Thomas: Now I will take you there.
  • Michael Brandon: He had heard Misty Valley was full of magic.
  • Thomas: You could make up a jolly good story about magic.
  • Michael Brandon: But on his way, Thomas saw Percy. Percy was in trouble. A river had flooded its banks. Percy was up to his buffers in water and his firebox had gone out.
  • Thomas: I am sorry.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Thomas to the famous storyteller.
  • Thomas: I cannot take you to Misty Valley. I have to help my friend.
  • Michael Brandon: Slowly, Thomas chuffed into the water. The water came right up to his foot plate. The famous storyteller had to stand on a box of cookies to keep her feet dry. Thomas bravely buffered up to Percy and he pushed his friend out.
  • Percy: Thank you, Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Percy. By now, it was time to go to the grand opening and Thomas was late.
  • Thomas: Cinders and Ashes.
  • Michael Brandon: Whooshed Thomas.
  • Thomas: I haven't had time to show any sights at all.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas arrived at the new library station. Sir Topham Hatt was waiting.
  • Thomas: We didn't visit any sights.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Thomas sadly.
  • Thomas: I had to take James' passengers to Maithwaite Station, Emily's flour to the bakery, and pull Percy out of the water.
  • Storyteller: But it's a wonderful idea for a story.
  • Michael Brandon: Cried the famous storyteller.
  • Storyteller: I shall write all about your day, Thomas, and how you helped your friends.
  • Michael Brandon: She was very excited and Thomas was delighted. The famous storyteller cut the red ribbon in front of the new library. She declared it open. Then the children and the engines all listened as the famous storyteller told them the story of her wonderful adventures with Thomas and his friends on the magical Island of Sodor.
  • (An engine puffing by sequence occurs and we begin Emily and The Garbage)
  • Michael Brandon: Emily and The Garbage. Emily is a grand, green engine. She's very proud of her big wheels and her perfect, polished paintwork. One morning, Emily was very excited. Sir Topham Hatt had told her to work with a new engine.
  • Emily: I hope he's smart and useful.
  • Michael Brandon: She whistled. Emily met Thomas waiting at a signal.
  • Thomas: The new engine is waiting for you at the shunting yards.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas.
  • Emily: I can't wait to meet him.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Emily. And she chuffed away as fast as her boiler could bubble. Emily steamed into the shunting yards to look for the new engine. He was the dirtiest little engine she had ever seen.
  • Whiff: Hello, Emily.
  • Michael Brandon: Whished the new engine happily.
  • Whiff: My name's Whiff because I'm a bit smelly. You're going to help me collect garbage!
  • Michael Brandon: Emily was horrified.
  • Emily: (sniffs) Oh, come on then.
  • Michael Brandon: She sighed.
  • Emily: Let's get started.
  • Michael Brandon: Gordon was talking to James and Henry in a siding. When they saw Emily with Whiff, they laughed.
  • Whiff: Hello.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Whiff.
  • James: Who's this smelly new friend with the funny whistle, Emily?
  • Michael Brandon: Snorted James.
  • Gordon: We smelled you coming for miles.
  • Michael Brandon: Whished Gordon grandly.
  • Whiff: My name's Whiff.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Whiff.
  • Henry: It suits you.
  • Michael Brandon: Laughed Henry.
  • Emily: Ooh.
  • Michael Brandon: Emily was very embarrassed. She hurried away. Whiff puffed after her.
  • Emily: (sighing)
  • Michael Brandon: Up the line, Emily and Whiff passed more engines. When they saw Whiff, they all laughed, too. Emily was tired of being teased.
  • Emily: I must get away from Whiff.
  • Michael Brandon: She huffed. Emily pumped her pistons.
  • Whiff: Wait for me.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Whiff. But Emily wasn't going to wait for Whiff. And soon, Whiff was a long way behind. Emily was glad Whiff had gone.
  • Emily: It's not my fault he can't keep up.
  • Michael Brandon: She huffed. Later, Emily had to wait for Elizabeth at a crossing.
  • Elizabeth: Where's this new engine?
  • Michael Brandon: Honked Elizabeth grandly.
  • Emily: Uh, he got lost.
  • Michael Brandon: Whished Emily.
  • Whiff: No, I didn't.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Whiff cheerfully.
  • Whiff: Hello!
  • Elizabeth: Oh.
  • Michael Brandon: Sniffed Elizabeth.
  • Elizabeth: Aren't you going to introduce me to your new friend?
  • Michael Brandon: But Emily didn't want anything more to do with Whiff. She chuffed away as fast as her pistons would pump.
  • Whiff: Wait for me.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Whiff cheerfully. Up ahead, Emily saw a branchline.
  • Emily: Maybe if I puffed down here, Whiff won't see me.
  • Michael Brandon: And Whiff didn't see Emily. He puffed passed on the main line. Emily chuffed all around Sir Topham Hatt's railway. She tried to hide from Whiff. But still, everywhere Emily went, Whiff always found her. In every tunnel, and in every siding. At last, Emily escaped from Whiff.
  • Emily: Thank goodness.
  • Michael Brandon: She whished.
  • Emily: Now no one will laugh at me for working with such a smelly engine.
  • Michael Brandon: Up ahead, Emily saw Spencer. He was very cross.
  • Spencer: I meant to be taking the Duke and Duchess of Boxford to an important lunch.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Spencer.
  • Spencer: But my way is blocked by all these smelly garbage wagons.
  • Emily: Flatten my funnel.
  • Michael Brandon: Steamed Emily. They were the garbage wagons that Emily and Whiff should have cleared earlier.
  • Spencer: Someone will have to move them.
  • Michael Brandon: Sniffed Spencer. Emily knew that was her job.
  • Emily: Oh, I suppose I'll have to move them. Ugh.
  • Michael Brandon: She shuddered. Emily buffered up. She pulled as hard as she could, but the wagons were much too heavy for her to move on her own. Just then, Gordon chuffed passed.
  • Emily: Can you help me move these garbage wagons?
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Emily.
  • Gordon: Me?
  • Michael Brandon: Snorted Gordon.
  • Gordon: Certainly not.
  • (James' whistle toots)
  • Emily: Can you help me move these garbage wagons, James?
  • Michael Brandon: Peeped Emily.
  • James: (sniffing) Ew, no, thank you.
  • Michael Brandon: Whished James. Emily was upset.
  • Spencer: I'm still waiting.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Spencer impatiently.
  • Emily: If Whiff was here now, he'd be happy to help me.
  • Michael Brandon: Emily sighed.
  • Emily: He wanted to be my friend, but I wasn't kind to him. I must fine Whiff and say sorry.
  • Michael Brandon: Emily looked high and low for Whiff. But he was nowhere to be seen.
  • (Whiff's whistle toots)
  • Michael Brandon: Then, at last, she heard Whiff's funny whistle.
  • Whiff: Hello, Emily.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Whiff cheerfully.
  • Whiff: I was wondering where you'd gone to.
  • Emily: I'm sorry, I ran away from you.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Emily.
  • Whiff: That's all right.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Whiff.
  • Whiff: I'm just glad you found me. Let's get to work!
  • Michael Brandon: Spencer was getting very impatient.
  • Emily: Don't worry, Spencer.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Emily.
  • Emily: Whiff is here to help now.
  • Spencer: Freeze my firebox.
  • Michael Brandon: Snorted Spencer when he saw Whiff.
  • Spencer: That dirty little engine can't move all these garbage wagons.
  • Emily: We're going to move them together.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Emily.
  • Whiff: Oh, thank you, Emily.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Whiff. Spencer watched as Emily and Whiff coupled up to the garbage wagons and quickly shunted themway. Spencer was very impressed.
  • Spencer: Whiff is a very, very useful engine.
  • Michael Brandon: He whistled.
  • Emily: I know.
  • Michael Brandon: Bubbled Emily happily.
  • Emily: And he's my new good friend, too.
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin Henry's Lucky Day)
  • Michael Brandon: Henry's Lucky Day. The winter holidays were coming and a thick blanket of snow covered the Island of Sodor. Snowdrifts blocked the lines, and the tracks were very slippery. The engines felt frozen from their funnels to their footplate. But Henry puffed happily through the snowy countryside. None of his lines were blocked.
  • Thomas: You are the only engine to have made your deliveries on time today.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Thomas.
  • Thomas: You must have lucky trucks.
  • Michael Brandon: Henry saw that none of the other engines were back.
  • Henry: Maybe you're right. Maybe I do have lucky trucks.
  • Michael Brandon: He puffed. That night when the engines were all asleep, Henry thought how pleased he was to have lucky trucks.
  • Henry: Now I will always be on time.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Henry.
  • Henry: And that means I can be a really useful engine.
  • Michael Brandon: But the next morning when Henry went to the yard, his lucky trucks weren't there.
  • Henry: Oh, no.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Henry.
  • Henry: Where are my lucky trucks?
  • Thomas: Edward took them.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Thomas.
  • Thomas: He needed to take coal to the villages.
  • Michael Brandon: Then Sir Topham Hatt arrived at the yard.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Henry, I've got a very important special for you.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: A delivery of presents has arrived at the airport. You must collect them and take them to the children in the villages.
  • Michael Brandon: Henry puffed to the airport. But soon he was in trouble. Gordon's Hill was very icy. Every time Henry tried to puff up the hill, he slid back down again.
  • Henry: I need my lucky trucks back.
  • Michael Brandon: Henry huffed.
  • Henry: I can't make my deliveries without them. Must find Edward. Must find Edward.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Henry. Then a snowslide came down and blocked Henry's way.
  • Henry: Oh, no.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Henry.
  • Henry: If I had my lucky trucks, this would never have happened.
  • Michael Brandon: Henry puffed up the line. He saw pipes across the track. They were blocking his way.
  • Molly: I thought you were collecting presents.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Molly.
  • James: You're supposed to be at the airport.
  • Michael Brandon: Snorted James.
  • Henry: Edward has my lucky trucks.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Henry.
  • Henry: I must find them.
  • Rocky: Don't worry.
  • Michael Brandon: Called Rocky.
  • Rocky: I'll have the line cleared in no time.
  • Michael Brandon: Henry waited sadly as Rocky lifted the pipes from the tracks. Then he chuffed on to find Edward and his lucky trucks. But every way that Henry chuffed, there were more delays.
  • Thomas: Sorry.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Thomas.
  • Thomas: It has taken me a long time to clear this line.
  • Henry: It's not your fault.
  • Michael Brandon: Henry whistled.
  • Henry: I need to find Edward and my lucky trucks.
  • Michael Brandon: And Henry puffed sadly away. Henry couldn't find Edward anywhere.
  • Henry: I'll never see my lucky trucks again.
  • Michael Brandon: He sighed. But when he puffed into the frosty forest, there was Edward with Henry's lucky trucks.
  • Henry: I found you.
  • Michael Brandon: Henry chuffed excitedly. But he puffed too quickly. His wheels slid on the icy tracks. And he biffed right into his lucky trucks.
  • Henry: Oh, no! I've broken my lucky trucks.
  • Michael Brandon: Groaned Henry. Henry didn't know what to do.
  • Henry: I'm not going anywhere without my lucky trucks.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Henry.
  • Edward: But they're broken.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Edward.
  • Edward: And if you don't collect the presents soon, the children won't have anything to open in the morning.
  • Michael Brandon: Henry thought about how sad the children would be.
  • Henry: I have to get to the airport somehow.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Henry.
  • Henry: Even without my lucky trucks.
  • Michael Brandon: So Henry chuffed away to the airport. The tracks were clear now, and the more Henry thought about the children, the less he thought about his lucky trucks. Henry puffed up Gordon's hill. The track was very icy. His wheels started to spin, but Henry puffed harder and harder. He inched his way over the top of the hill. Soon, Henry arrived at the airport. He collected his presents...and puffed across the island, making his deliveries. Now, Henry didn't think about his lucky trucks once. All he could think about was delivering the presents on time. Children were waiting at the station.
  • Children: Good old Henry.
  • Michael Brandon: They cheered. Henry felt very proud. And he steamed along the track.
  • Henry: Only one more delivery.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Henry. With or without his lucky trucks, Henry knew he mustn't let the children down.
  • (Children cheering)
  • Henry: I've delivered all the presents.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Henry happily.
  • Henry: And without my lucky trucks. Maybe the trucks weren't so lucky after all.
  • Michael Brandon: But when Henry saw the children's smiling faces, he knew he was still the luckiest engine.
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin Navigation)
  • Children: When to stop and when to go These are things you have to know When to start, when to brake Choices that you have to make To know what signals mean Where you're going, where you've been Where it's straight, where to turn All these things you have to learn Get to know your navigation Handle every situation Every time you leave the station Know you'll reach your destination Get to know your navigation Handle every situation Every time you leave the station Know you'll reach your destination Over bridges, through the tunnel Smoke is streaming from your funnel Puffing through the countryside Taking people on a ride When driving down the roads You'll know where to take your load If you're flying through the air Navigation gets you there Get to know your navigation Handle every situation Every time you leave the station Know you'll reach your destination Get to know your navigation Handle every situation Every time you leave the station Know you'll reach your destination.
  • (Instrumental break)
  • Children: Get to know your navigation Handle every situation Every time you leave the station Know you'll reach your destination Get to know your navigation Handle every situation Every time you leave the station Know you'll reach your destination.
  • Girl: When you know a railway sign You will get there every time You won't get lost again You'll know where and you'll know when.
  • Children: So, get to know your navigation Handle every situation Every time you leave the station Know you'll reach your destination Get to know your navigation Handle every situation Every time you leave the station Know you'll reach your destination.
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin Percy and The Baggage)
  • Michael Brandon: Percy and The Baggage. In summertime, the engines on the Island of Sodor enjoy being busy. Many visitors come to the island. The engines take them to visit many beautiful sights. Percy liked the summer. He was as happy as could be. Sir Topham Hatt came to Tidmouth. He had lots of jobs for Percy.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: You are to collect the holiday mail, deliver the lights for the town hall, and take the children to their summer party.
  • Michael Brandon: Percy was very happy.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: You are also to collect my mother's baggage from Maithwaite Station and take it to the airport.
  • Michael Brandon: He boomed.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: The plane leaves at teatime. It's very, very, very important you get them there on time.
  • Percy: Yes, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Peeped Percy excitedly, and he puffed out of Tidmouth as fast as he could. Percy steamed through the sunny countryside. He was very, very happy.
  • Percy: Why, this could be the most fun day ever.
  • Michael Brandon: Peeped Percy. Percy came to a junction. The left track went to Maithwaite Station and to Sir Topham Hatt's mother's bags, and straight ahead was the postal depot. Percy thought about which way to go, but not for very long.
  • Percy: Taking the baggage is an easy job.
  • Michael Brandon: He peeped.
  • Percy: I can do that later.
  • Michael Brandon: And so Percy puffed straight ahead to the postal depot to collect the mail. Percy buffered up to the presents and mail sacks. He wheeshed away as happy as he could be. Percy had lots of stations to go to and lots of people to talk to.
  • Percy: Hello.
  • Michael Brandon: He peeped happily. Some of the wagons were uncoupled...and Percy chuffed on with the rest of his deliveries. When everyone saw the parcels and presents, they clapped and cheered. Percy was having a wonderful time. He wished he could do it all over again. Percy wondered what job to do next. He came to another junction. This time, straight ahead was the way to Maithwaite Station and to Sir Topham Hatt's mother's bags, and the left track went to Brendam Docks. The lights for the town hall were waiting there. Percy thought about which way to go, but not for very long.
  • Percy: Taking the baggage is an easy job.
  • Michael Brandon: He said.
  • Percy: I can do that later.
  • Michael Brandon: And so Percy puffed away to the left. Percy collected the lights from the docks and he set off for the town hall. Percy pulled up outside the town hall. The people on the platforms smiled and waved. They were looking forward to seeing the town hall all lit up. Percy was feeling more and more excited.
  • Percy: Now, I can take the children to the party.
  • Michael Brandon: He peeped.
  • Percy: That's the best job of all.
  • Michael Brandon: Percy came to the junction again. Sir Topham Hatt's mother's bags were still waiting at Maithwaite, but Percy wasn't thinking about the bags. He was thinking about the children. Percy collected the children in no time at all. Soon, Percy was whistling...and the children were singing. Everyone was having a great time. Then, Percy needed to take on water. Sir Topham Hatt drove by. He was taking his mother to the airport. Percy suddenly remembered the bags.
  • Percy: Bust my buffers!
  • Michael Brandon: Peeped Percy.
  • Percy: I must collect the baggage now or Sir Topham Hatt's mother will leave without it.
  • Michael Brandon: Percy was worried.
  • Percy: Now I can't take the children to the party.
  • Michael Brandon: He puffed quickly away. He had to find someone to help him. Percy saw Edward resting in a siding.
  • Percy: Edward.
  • Michael Brandon: Peeped Percy.
  • Percy: I'm late to take Sir Topham Hatt's mother's bags to the airport. Will you take the children to the party for me, please?
  • Edward: I'd be delighted.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Edward. So Percy left the passenger car in the siding. He peeped good-bye to the children...and raced to Maithwaite Station. Percy buffered up to the baggage and wheeshed away as fast as his wheels could carry him. Percy had to arrive at the airport before Sir Topham Hatt. Percy raced through tunnels and he chuffed over bridges.
  • Percy: Why didn't I do this job first?
  • Michael Brandon: Wailed Percy.
  • Percy: Why did I leave it to last?
  • Michael Brandon: Percy arrived at the airport just in time. Jeremy the plane was waiting. The baggage was unloaded just as Sir Topham Hatt's car arrived.
  • Percy: I made it on time.
  • Michael Brandon: Peeped Percy. He was relieved.
  • Dowager Hatt: You're a very reliable engine.
  • Michael Brandon: Boomed Sir Topham Hatt's mother as she boarded Jeremy.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Well done, Percy.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Sir Topham Hatt. Percy was pleased. Jeremy soared into the sky. Sir Topham Hatt waved...and Percy blew his whistle. He'd never leave things to the last minute ever again.
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin Hector The Horrid)
  • Michael Brandon: Hector The Horrid. Thomas the Tank Engine enjoys shunting troublesome trucks. He can biff them harder and faster than any other engine. It's one of his favorite jobs. One morning Sir Topham Hatt had an important announcement.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: James and Edward must make extra deliveries of coal.
  • Michael Brandon: He boomed.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Thomas, you must shunt and fill freight cars at the coaling plant. James and Edward, you must collect them this afternoon.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas was very pleased. Just then, Bill and Ben chuffed by. Between them was a big, black truck. It was biffing and bashing the little engines.
  • Thomas: What are you two doing?
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas. Bill and Ben told him they were delivering the truck to the coaling plant.
  • Thomas: Why does it need two engines to deliver one truck?
  • Michael Brandon: Asked Thomas.
  • Ben: Because he really doesn't like to be shunted.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Ben.
  • Bill: His name is Hector.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Bill.
  • Bill: But we call him Hector the Horrid.
  • Michael Brandon: Bill and Ben chuffed slowly away with Hector.
  • James: He does look troublesome.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed James.
  • Thomas: Troublesome trucks don't worry me.
  • Michael Brandon: Boasted Thomas.
  • Thomas: I could biff him firmly into place.
  • Michael Brandon: Later, Thomas chuffed into the coaling plant. And there was Hector. The other trucks giggled and laughed.
  • Trucks: Big, bad, strong and solid that truck's name is Hector the Horrid.
  • Michael Brandon: They sang. Thomas puffed closer.
  • Hector: KEEP AWAY!
  • Michael Brandon: Roared Hector.
  • Thomas: Bill and Ben were right.
  • Michael Brandon: Thought Thomas.
  • Thomas: Hector is scary. And Hector is horrid.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas decided to keep away. Thomas spent the morning shunting the other freight cars and filling them with coal. All the time, Thomas could feel Hector the Horrid watching him. The coaling plant manager came to see Thomas.
  • Coaling Plant Manager: We need an extra large delivery.
  • Michael Brandon: He said.
  • Coaling Plant Manager: So Rosie is coming to help you. You must shunt and fill Hector, then add him to the back of James's train.
  • Michael Brandon: He told Thomas. Later, Rosie puffed into the yard. She saw Hector.
  • Rosie: Wow, do we have to shunt and fill that big truck, Thomas?
  • Michael Brandon: She asked sweetly.
  • Thomas: Yes.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Thomas.
  • Thomas: But he doesn't want to be shunted. His name is...
  • Michael Brandon: But before Thomas could finish, Hector opened his mouth and let out the biggest roar ever.
  • Hector: KEEP AWAY!
  • Michael Brandon: He bellowed. Rosie was so surprised, she shook from funnel to foot plate, and she steamed straight out of the yard. This made Thomas cross. Hector had biffed and bashed Bill and Ben, he had shouted at Thomas and he had frightened Rosie so much that she had puffed away. Now, the extra delivery would never be ready. Thomas had had enough. He puffed up bravely in front of Hector and gave him a mighty biff. Hector rolled backwards. He was very cross.
  • Hector: KEEP AWAY!
  • Michael Brandon: He roared.
  • Thomas: No I won't.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas crossly.
  • Thomas: You are causing confusion and delay. You really are horrid.
  • Michael Brandon: Then with one mighty biff, Thomas sent Hector rolling backwards into a set of buffers. Hector crashed off the track. Thomas felt very bad. He hadn't meant to knock Hector over. Thomas puffed up to Hector. Hector lay on his side, looking very sad. Now Hector didn't seem so horrid.
  • Thomas: I'm sorry I biffed you so hard.
  • Michael Brandon: Wheezed Thomas.
  • Thomas: But why don't you want to be shunted?
  • Hector: Because I'm scared.
  • Michael Brandon: Moaned Hector.
  • Thomas: Why?
  • Michael Brandon: Asked Thomas.
  • Hector: I'm new.
  • Michael Brandon: He groaned.
  • Hector: And I'm scared because I haven't been filled with coal before. I don't know what it feels like. That's why I didn't want to be shunted.
  • Michael Brandon: He added. Thomas was surprised. Later, Rocky and the workmen arrived and lifted Hector back onto the tracks. Thomas wanted to help Hector.
  • Thomas: Sometimes I'm scared when I have to do something new.
  • Michael Brandon: He chuffed.
  • Thomas: But coal isn't scary.
  • Michael Brandon: Hector watched as Thomas rolled under the coal hopper. Black, dusty coal poured into Thomas's coal box. When the dust settled, Hector saw that Thomas was smiling.
  • Thomas: See, it's not scary.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas proudly. Now Hector was excited.
  • Hector: I'd like to be filled with coal, too.
  • Michael Brandon: He rumbled.
  • Thomas: We must hurry.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Thomas. Thomas pulled Hector quickly under the coal hopper. Hector was quickly filled with coal. It felt wonderful. Then Thomas shunted Hector into place just in time. James and Edward puffed into the yard. They saw their waiting trains. James was very surprised to see Hector at the back.
  • James: Well done, Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: Snorted James. The trains were soon coupled up. James and Edward puffed away for their special deliveries. They were very surprised to hear Thomas whistle "Good luck." But the whistle wasn't for them. It was Thomas tooting to his new friend "Hector The Not Horrid At All."
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin Don't Be Silly, Billy)
  • Michael Brandon: Don't Be Silly, Billy. All the engines on Sir Topham Hatt's railway are proud of being really useful. Gordon likes being the best express. Percy likes pulling the mail cars on time. And Thomas likes being given a special special. One morning, Thomas arrived at Brendam Docks. He was excited.
  • Thomas: Today, I have to look after a new engine.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas.
  • Salty: Well, that's a special job, me hearty.
  • Michael Brandon: Smiled Salty.
  • Salty: And here he is.
  • Michael Brandon: The engine was shiny, orange and puffing with pride.
  • Billy: I'm Billy.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled the new engine.
  • Billy: Let's go.
  • Thomas: Wait, Billy.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas.
  • Thomas: We can't go yet. We have to wait for Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Billy: Why?
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Billy.
  • Thomas: Because he tells us what we are to do.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Thomas. Billy didn't want to wait for Sir Topham Hatt. He wanted to go. Sir Topham Hatt arrived.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Billy.
  • Michael Brandon: He boomed.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: You have a very busy day.
  • Michael Brandon: Billy beamed.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: First, you must take empty chicken cars to the farm, and bring the chickens back to the docks. Then, you are to deliver diesel oil to the quarry. And lastly, you have to take coal to the depot.
  • Billy: Yes, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Bubbled Billy happily.
  • Billy: Right away, sir.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Thomas you must show Billy how to be a really useful engine.
  • Michael Brandon: Added Sir Topham Hatt. And he left.
  • Thomas: Billy.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas steamed.
  • Thomas: You must pull the chickens slowly and smoothly.
  • Billy: I know that.
  • Michael Brandon: Sighed Billy. He pumped his pistons impatiently.
  • Thomas: Don't pump your pistons before you're ready to leave.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Thomas
  • Thomas: It wastes coal and water.
  • Michael Brandon: Billy puffed and huffed.
  • Thomas: And first, you must take on enough coal and water for a busy day.
  • Michael Brandon: Added Thomas
  • Billy: Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Billy.
  • Billy: Stop telling me what to do. You are a very bossy engine.
  • Michael Brandon: And Billy raced off.
  • Salty: He thinks you're a bossy boiler, me hearty.
  • Michael Brandon: Laughed Salty. Thomas didn't like being called bossy. He had promised Sir Topham Hatt he would look after Billy. So Thomas chased after him. Thomas was pleased to find Billy at the farm, but Billy wasn't pleased to see Thomas.
  • Thomas: Billy, you must take on coal and water.
  • Billy: Don't tell me what to do, Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Billy.
  • Billy: You are a very bossy engine.
  • Michael Brandon: And Billy steamed off.
  • Farmer McColl: Silly Billy, you've forgotten the chickens.
  • Michael Brandon: Farmer McColl called.
  • Thomas: Bother, Billy.
  • Michael Brandon: Wheeshed Thomas. And he chuffed quickly off towards the quarry. Thomas was pleased to find Billy at the quarry, but Billy wasn't pleased to see him.
  • Thomas: You didn't pick up the chickens.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Thomas.
  • Thomas: And you still haven't taken on coal and water.
  • Billy: Stop telling me what to do, Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Billy.
  • Billy: You are a very bossy engine.
  • Michael Brandon: And Billy steamed off.
  • Mavis: He's forgotten our oil.
  • Michael Brandon: Wheeshed Mavis. Thomas was worried. And he raced off quickly for the depot. Thomas was pleased to find Billy at the depot, but Billy wasn't pleased to see him. Billy had backed up to heavy wagons of diesel oil.
  • Thomas: They need diesel oil at the quarry, not the depot.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas
  • Thomas: And you still haven't taken on coal and water.
  • Billy: Stop telling me what to do, Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Billy.
  • Billy: You are a very, very bossy engine.
  • Michael Brandon: Billy steamed off without the diesel oil. Thomas was worried...and he chased after Billy. Thomas was pleased to find Billy at the coaling plant. He was backing his wagons under the hopper, but he didn't see Percy there, and he biffed him...right under the hopper. Percy was covered in coal from funnel to footplate.
  • Percy: Watch out, silly Billy.
  • Michael Brandon: Percy peeped.
  • Thomas: Oh, no.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas
  • Thomas: You must be careful when you roll under the hopper, and you must take on coal and water now.
  • Billy: Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Billy.
  • Billy: Stop telling me what to do. You are a very bossy engine.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas was very unhappy. He didn't want to be called bossy anymore.
  • Thomas: Do whatever you want, Billy.
  • Michael Brandon: He wheeshed. This made Billy very happy, and he raced off. Suddenly, Billy stopped. He had run out of coal and water.
  • Thomas: Cinders and ashes.
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Thomas.
  • Thomas: I haven't taught Billy to be really useful at all.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas shunted Billy to the water tower. Then, Billy's firebox was filled with coal.
  • Thomas: I know you think I'm a bossy boiler.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas.
  • Thomas: But I've done all these jobs before. I can help you. Then no one will call you a silly Billy.
  • Michael Brandon: So together, Billy and Thomas collected Farmer McColl's chickens. And took them to the docks. Then, they delivered the diesel oil to Mavis and Diesel at the quarry. And lastly, they delivered coal to the depot. Thomas was very tired.
  • Thomas: Good-bye, Billy.
  • Michael Brandon: He chuffed.
  • Thomas: Sir Topham Hatt will be very pleased you finished all your jobs.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas started to puff away.
  • Billy: Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: Bubbled Billy.
  • Billy: You're not a bossy boiler. You're a really useful engine. And I really enjoyed working with you.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas felt very happy. Billy wasn't a silly Billy anymore, and Thomas had made a really good friend.
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin Dirty Work)
  • Michael Brandon: Dirty Work. James is a shiny, red engine. He always likes to look his best, and he likes his friends to know he's the smartest engine on Sodor. Emily, Percy and Thomas were at Tidmouth Sheds. James arrived. He'd been to the repair yard. He was excited to get back to work.
  • James: I hope I get an important job today.
  • Michael Brandon: Whooshed James. Sir Topham Hatt arrived.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: I need an engine for a special.
  • Michael Brandon: Boomed Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: The Mayor must be taken to the Festival of Lights at the Scottish castle.
  • James: I'm the perfect engine for that job, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: James whistled.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Very well, James.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Sir Topham Hatt. James was delighted.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Thomas, Emily and Percy.
  • Michael Brandon: Added Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: If you finish youjobs in time, you can all go to the festival, too.
  • Percy: I can't wait to see the festival.
  • Michael Brandon: Peeped Percy.
  • Emily: Neither can I.
  • Michael Brandon: Whooshed Emily.
  • Thomas: You'll be the star of the show, James.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas. This made James very happy. He couldn't wait to make a grand entrance.
  • Percy: We have lots of jobs to do first.
  • Michael Brandon: Peeped Percy.
  • Emily: You don't have anything to do all day, James.
  • Michael Brandon: Whooshed Emily.
  • Emily: Can you help us?
  • James: Me?
  • Michael Brandon: Snorted James.
  • James: I can't help. It's much more important for me to look really smart when I arrive with my important passenger.
  • Michael Brandon: And James puffed proudly away to the wash-down. At the wash-down, James was very happy. He enjoyed having his boiler brushed and his cab clean. Percy stopped by on his way to the quarry.
  • Percy: I still have lots of work to do.
  • Michael Brandon: He puffed.
  • Percy: Can you help me, James?
  • James: Sorry, Percy.
  • Michael Brandon: Sniffed James.
  • James: It's much more important that I look smart. Now I need to be polished.
  • Michael Brandon: Soon, James was being polished until he shone.
  • James: Don't forget to buff my buffers.
  • Michael Brandon: He tooted happily.
  • Thomas: Thomas puffed up with a long line of coal cars.
  • Cars: Cling-clang, cling-clang.
  • Michael Brandon: They giggled.
  • James: Those trucks look troublesome.
  • Michael Brandon: Laughed James.
  • Thomas: They are.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas.
  • Thomas: Can you help me, James?
  • James: Sorry, Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: Cried James.
  • James: I need to look smart for my passengers. Now I have to get my funnel swept.
  • Michael Brandon: As his funnel was being swept, James smelled a fishy smell.
  • James: Bust my buffers!
  • Michael Brandon: He cried.
  • James: What's that?
  • Michael Brandon: It was Emily. She was pulling wagons of fish very slowly.
  • Emily: These are very heavy. Can you help me, James?
  • Michael Brandon: She puffed.
  • James: Sorry. I need to have some special flags fitted.
  • Michael Brandon: Sniffed James. At last, James was ready. His flags were fitted, his buffers beamed, and his paintwork shone from funnel to foot plate. Everyone he passed cheered and waved.
  • James: I am the smartest engine ever.
  • Michael Brandon: James puffed proudly. On the way to collect the Mayor, James passed the Scottish castle. It looked wonderful. Everything was ready for the festival, and Sir Topham Hatt was waiting, but there were no engines. James was surprised.
  • James: Where are Thomas and Percy and Emily?
  • Sir Topham Hatt: They haven't finished their work yet.
  • Michael Brandon: Boomed Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: So they won't be here for the festival.
  • James: I must help my friends. Otherwise, they won't be here to see me be the star of the show.
  • Michael Brandon: James found Thomas. He was still having trouble with his coal cars.
  • Thomas: I'm going to miss the festival.
  • Michael Brandon: He sighed sadly.
  • James: No, you're not.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed James.
  • James: Because I'm going to help you.
  • Michael Brandon: James buffered up and he helped, even though he got covered in coal dust. Next, James found Percy in the quarry. Percy was struggling to pull the quarry cars.
  • Percy: I'm going to miss the festival.
  • Michael Brandon: Percy sighed sadly.
  • James: No you're not.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed James.
  • James: Because I'm going to help you.
  • Michael Brandon: James buffered up, and he helped, even though he got covered in quarry dust. Then, James found Emily at the junction.
  • Emily: I can't pull the fish wagons any further, James. They are too heavy. I'm going to miss the festival.
  • James: No you're not.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed James.
  • James: Because I'm going to help you.
  • Michael Brandon: And James did...even though he knew he would be covered in smelly fish. At the Scottish castle, the brass band was waiting. A red carpet was ready, and so were Thomas, Percy and Emily. They were all waiting for James to arrive with his important passenger.
  • Thomas: Here comes James.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Thomas. Everyone cheered as James arrived with the Mayor. But James was worried. After helping his friends, he didn't look smart at all and he certainly didn't feel like the star of the show.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: James.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: You are...a very hard-working and really useful engine.
  • Michael Brandon: James was amazed.
  • James: You're not cross with me, sir? Even though my flags are drooping and I'm covered in coal dust and quarry dust and fish?
  • Sir Topham Hatt: What matters, James.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Is that you helped all your friends "and safely delivered your important passenger. Well done.
  • Michael Brandon: James was very happy, and his friends all thought that James was still the star of the show.
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin Engine Roll Call)
