Narrator: "Copper the Hound Dog is old-fashioned, but he doesn't care. He knows that he is really useful, like his friend Hercules.

Early one morning, Copper was chuffing about the vicarage orchard. He had important news for Hercules."

Copper: "Grimsby says that not all children are able to have holidays by the sea, so he's having a garden party to raise money for a seaside trip. I'm going to be the star attraction."

Narrator: "Chattered Copper."

Copper: "Giving rides to all the visitors. Grimsby is putting up posters all about it."

Hercules: "I'd like to help too."

Narrator: "Sighed Hercules."

Hercules: "But without my road, I wouldn't be much good at a garden party."

Narrator: "It was a beautiful day, but Hercules was worried."

Hercules: "I wish there were something I could for the party."

Narrator: "He said."

Hercules: "I'd like to be helpful like Copper."

Narrator: "Hercules' driver laughed."

Hercules' Driver: "You're helpful in your own way, and that's in Disneyland."

Narrator: "Next day, it was Copper's turn to look disappointed. He had bad news."

Copper: "Grimsby's been so busy that he forgot to put up the posters. Now no one will know about the party."

Narrator: "But Hercules had an idea."

Hercules: "Don't worry."

Narrator: "He said."

Hercules: "Everything is going to be all right."

Narrator: "Then he explained to his driver."

Hercules: "Grimsby can paste his posters and me and my flowers, so wherever I go, they'll go too."

Hercules' Driver: "Well done, Hercules."

Narrator: "Said his driver."

Hercules' Driver: "I'm sure Mickey Mouse will agree."

Narrator: "As indeed he did.

Hercules walked happily through the stations collecting his passengers."

Passengers: "Look."

Narrator: "They said."

Passengers: "Grimsby's is holding a party. We must go to that."

Narrator: "Later, Copper was resting in the orchard shed when Tod rolled by."

Tod: "Hello, Copper. Why are you dozing there like an old stick-in-the-mud?"

Copper: "I'm not dozing. I'm resting."

Narrator: "Replied Copper. Then he told Tod about Grimsby's party."

Tod: "I'll be there too."

Narrator: "Boasted Tod."

Tod: "I'm not sure if people will want to ride on a hound dog after traveling with a smart fox like me."

Narrator: "The party day arrived. It had rained heavily during the night, and the orchard ground was soggy."

Copper: "Rain and mud won't spoil my day."

Narrator: "Said Copper."

Alan-a-Dale: "No, indeed."

Narrator: "Agreed his driver."

Alan-a-Dale: "We'll stay on the road, then we won't get bogged down."

Narrator: "Copper was soon busy trundling up and down the quiet country lane, carrying lots of laughing children.

He was just turning a corner when he heard Tod."

Tod: "Hello, old-timer. I'm taking everyone to the party. Hercules' idea is really working."

Narrator: "Copper gave Tod a cheerful whistle and turned back towards the orchard.

Then there was trouble."

Tod: "Help, I'm stuck!"

Narrator: "Shouted Tod. His feet had sunk deep in the orchard mud. Sebastian the Crab arrived just in time."

Sebastian: "I'm the one who helps plow fields."

Narrator: "Laughed Sebastian."

Sebastian: "We'd better get you out."

Narrator: "Using strong ropes, Sebastian and Copper pulled Tod clear of the mud."

Copper: "This will teach Tod a thing or two."

Narrator: "Copper chuffered to himself.

At last, Tod was on the road again."

Tod: "Thank you, Copper."

Narrator: "He laughed."

Tod: "You're not a stick-in-the-mud at all."

Copper: "No."

Narrator: "Smiled Copper."

Copper: "But you were, just for a little while."

Narrator: "That evening, Grimsby arrived to see Hercules and his driver."

Grimsby: "Thanks to your good idea about the posters, hundreds of people paid to come to the party. We've raised lots of money for the children."

Narrator: "Hercules was very pleased, and Copper fell happily asleep thinking of all the children who would now get to the seaside at last."
